  1. Yep, I have been diagnosed with Lymphycytic Colitis as well. Did they give you an official diagnosis? As far as mainly diarrhea, yes, but I too suffer with with constipation at times as well. My constipation is very similar to the symptoms of Proctitis. In the past I had lots of problems with diarrhea as well, but after stumbling upon finding Atkins...
  2. My feeling is that an IgA deficiency should always go along with Ttg. Given my recent research I understand the use of Ttg as the main testing. Though along with false negatives this would also have false positives as well.
  3. Agreed, especially the root vegetables. Hell, I've recently picked up a book on Native American uses of vegetation in the Pacfic Nortwest, the defintly used root vegetables.
  4. If by Peppers you mean Bell Peppers I'm guessing the problem might be either: 1) that they are nightshades (like the potato) and folks have problems with those due them containing toxins 2) They were native to Central and South America pre-Columbian times. Meaning they weren't a normal part of the european diet where I'm guessing Cordain gets most of...
  5. My guess is that most folks don't think they have it and don't get tested because they don't fit the "classic symptoms" for Celiac. So what reasons are family memebers giving for not getting tested? I returned my book to the library, but Dr Greene's book on Celiac disease had a good check list to provide family memembers, it had the classic and non...
  6. Oh man, the last time I had cheese I was miserable. I even went for an Aged Cheddar that supposedly wouldn't contain any lactose. I suppose it could have been some other ingredient in the cheese as I suspect the Anneto (sp) coloring, but I've had Milk Protein Isolate (basically all that's left is whey and casein) and didn't see any problems there. Lactaid...
  7. Thanks, I'll have a bit less anxiety about it all now. I'm curious, what were the results of the lactose test?
  8. I saw a GI Dr today and I'm curious about some lab tests I'm getting done. One is for Lactose Intollerance and it's a blood test. What does this entail and how does it work in comparison to the breath test? How do they test for Bacterial Overgrowth? Has anyone done an upper GI x-ray where you drink barium? What was this like? Finally...
  9. From what I've read a sublingual (under the tongue) B12 would work fine as well. The Methyl version is the best absorbed. Here's what I take every once in a while: Open Original Shared Link Though don't take it too late in the day as I've found it can interfere with sleeping sometimes. Mike
  10. Hi Sara, I sure hope that they don't make mistakes in writting up lab results. Makes me wonder about the rest of the results and how accurate they are. I suppose I should contact the company to see what they say. Thanks, Mike
  11. Rather interesting stuff. What I also found interesting that I learned about recently is that Irish Setters (the dog) are known to have Celiac. Supposedly this is what nearly brought them to extinction. The addition of wheat as a filler in dog food nearly brought them in. I have no idea how this could possibly be related at all, but I did find...
  12. Having both Microscopic Colitis (Lymphocytic) and gluten sensitivity (and the gene for celiac) I agree 100% with Dr Fine's connection.
  13. Here's another reason why folks might feel crappy when doing an elimination diet.
  14. I didn't see this thread before, but here are my results from US BioTek. Most everything showed no reaction, but let's look at what showed a reaction. Low Reaction - Whey (protein in dairy) and Almond Moderate Reaction - Gliadin (Wheat) and Whole Wheat - Both were closer to High than Low reaction High Reaction - Gluten (Wheat), and Rye And...
  15. Most everything showed no reaction, but let's look at what showed a reaction. Low Reaction - Whey (protein in dairy) and Almond Moderate Reaction - Gliadin (Wheat) and Whole Wheat - Both were closer to High than Low reaction High Reaction - Gluten (Wheat), and Rye And what, quite curiously, is missing with regards to reaction. Barley and Oat....
  16. Yeah, the one I was eating said Wheat free "Puffins", but reading the ingredients I saw Malt listed. This was a while back, and I thought I was eating gluten-free.
  17. Wow, talk about heads up their... oh wait, heads in the sand.
  18. Don't know if mine would have been covered but I'll check when I can. Here are the numbers for your insurance company from my invoice. One Gluten and Milk sensitiity stool/gene panel complete ($369) Itemized costs of Stool tests included in panel Antigliadin IgA (CPT 83520) $99.00 Anti-tissue transglutaminase IgA (CPT 83520) $50.00 Anti-Casein...
  19. When did you ask and get the reply?
  20. Well, I'm not sure what to make of this now. Look what came in my email today:
  21. Same here. I've thought about trying some glutened food to see what symptoms I get and to see if they match up with what I think the symptoms are for me when I think I accidently ingest it. Haven't had the guts (ha ha) to do it yet.
  22. I'd like to learn more about how this works. I have a general idea, I just have some unanswered questions. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike
  23. I only have DQ8 not DQ2. I also have a gluten sensitivity gene.
  24. Somehow I missed this topic but I ran across some very interesting research with regards to Bromelain. That leads me to believe that in the right quantity it won't cure, but I'm guessing it can help. Here's what I posted elsewhere with regards to this. Here's more: And more:
  25. Some of your symptoms sound like Proctitis. An inflamation of the rectum and lower colon.
