  1. Did you ever get tested for casein allergy? The reason I ask is that goats milk is lower in casein than sheep or cows milk. At least I think that was the major difference with goats milk.
  2. Yep, the gene test only shows us the potential for disease. You therefore have the potential, but may not have the disease without other testing.
  3. Exactly, it's like an onion, layers hiding other layers. In fact I'm betting that some of the things that I thought I reacted to might really have been reactions to other things that I've found recently.
  4. Just started reading this book and it's been pretty darn good so far. Only through chapter 2 though. I really got a lot out of his talk about how the GI system is supposed to work and how gluten affects it. What's funny is that after that explanation and him talking about celiac being autoimmune I'm questioning that it is really an autoimmune reaction...
  5. Nope, their brains must be foggy due to ingesting gluten from their shampoo.
  6. Sounds reasonable to me. Though like you said it could just be the lactose. So some sort of lactaid milk would be a good idea. Lactose malabsorption and milk allergy/sensitivity/intolerance are not exactly the same thing, though they can have similar results. Lactose needs lactase to digest it since it is a complex sugar and the body digests simple...
  7. GasX or any OTC drug (simithcone (sp)) that says it relieves gas most likely only really helps with gas that's in the upper GI, belching/burping for example It does nothing or very little to help abdominal gas. The only thing that helped with regards to abdominal gas is to either avoid/limit the food or take a digestive enzyme that helps to break it down...
  8. Send a letter to the editor (or whatever it is for a website) so that they can correct this info.
  9. What kind of allergy panel came back negative? Was it Skin or Blood, was it IgG, IgA, IgE or other? What lab? Just curious.
  10. One telling thing for you is this particular item from the testing: This is pretty darn high which means that though you are within the numbers you do have some damage to your GI that is causing malabsorption of fat, which as nice as it may sound is a very bad thing. Especially for fat soluable vitamins. Like others have said I'd stick with the...
  11. How can you tell that they are IgA deficient? I thought that the first test listed said that they were within the range or am I again misinterpreting. Must be the brain fog.
  12. Yikes, thanks for the info on Aussie. I figured Aussie "MEGA" was a manly sounding name so I guess it's a guy shampoo... ok I admit it, it wasn't the name, I just liked the smell. LOL Guess I'll change it now. Let me know what manly shampoos you find.
  13. Whew, well since there's dairy I can just ignore that I saw this. *sigh*
  14. I don't get it, from the looks of the numbers it looks like you are positive for Celiac if you only go with the bloodwork. What am I missing that the Dr isn't?
  15. Most likely, but always read the label or call the company to make sure.
  16. The story goes with the H. Pylori that he took some ammount of the bacteria and ended up getting an ulcer just to prove his point.

    ARCHIVED Stress

Even if I wasn't interested in the topic it'd be a great read. Love his style of writing.
  18. I use Aussie Mega. Hmm... don't know if it's a "guy" shampoo, but I like it. And as far as I can tell it's gluten free. If someone knows better, please let me know. Mike

    ARCHIVED Stress

Unfortunatly it does for me. When we are under stress the body releases hormones/chemicals that the body reacts to which can cause GI and other symptoms. When under stress the body spends more energy on resources to respond to the stress thus spending less energy on digesting and healing and other things. When under stress the body can try to eliminate...

    ARCHIVED Sit Ups Cause Pain

Could be gluten. Does the pain feel like the pain you get when you do some new exercise or do something that you haven't done in a long time? How long have you been doing situps like this and notice the pain?
  21. I always thought it was the water content and/or pestisides (sp) that might cause the ill reaction in me.
  22. Hmmm... how about next time you give blood for the regular testing you do this testing at the same time to see how accurate it is for yourself? I'd like to know why the Drs say they are inaccurate, I know nothing about the tests other than Drs like to say things at times that aren't true.
  23. Oh man! Don't remind me. They have got to be filled with crack or something they are... were so darn addictive.
  24. Ok this sort of labeling is starting to scare me. I wonder if in the end all that is going to be done is testing like to say that it doesn't show gluten up to some level of testing and leave it at that. So in the end we won't know which foods are truely gluten free and which are not. Wonder if this is the slippery slope of the new labeling law. Mike
  25. I'm pretty sure I have Fructose Malabsorption. I can eat it in limited quanties, but eat too much I get very gassy, bloated, crampy, loose stools. I'm guessing that due to damage done to the villi by celiac or gluten intolerance causes the fructase (the enzyme that breaks down the complex sugar into simple sugars that the body can digest) is limited or...
