  1. I have had a horrible time trying to find gluten-free face wash in Canada over the past few years... it either doesn't work for my skin or the company fails to respond to my emails. I am looking for a cleanser that is good for dry, sensitive skin and fights aging. Please help!
  2. For up-to-date information on Victoria, you can always check www.victoriaceliac.org There are lists of restaurants and grocery stores that have gluten-free food. As for the Olive Grove, I have found them to be very accomodating. They even give you gluten-free rice crackers and hummus instead of bread to start.
  3. Hi guys, Anyone in Canada know of a gluten free sunscreen? Thanks in advance
  4. Email from Stride July 23, 2008: Thank you for your inquiry concerning the presence of allergens in products produced by our company. We are a food company committed to very high standards and we have a clearly defined policy of complying with food regulations. Additionally, we work closely with legislative authorities and other interested parties...
  5. Open Original Shared Link Under events and local info, there is a large list of restaurants. Be sure to visit the conference too!
  6. I have decided to record all my gluten free travel finds in a blog that I have listed in my profile. All of the information I compiled about being gluten-free in Shanghai is there. I hope it helps!
  7. Hi everyone, I just wanted to share some information I've found out. I've had all the vaccinations now before my trip in December and wanted to tell everyone they were all gluten free. This includes: MMR Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis Typhoid fever Influenza Menactra (Meningitis) Dukoral (oral vaccination for traveller's diarrhea/cholera) Malarone...
  8. I know there are a few topics on China around here, but I was hoping there might be some new information. I'll be in Shanghai for a month this December and would appreciate it if anyone could tell me about specific restaurants that were good or any other tips. I already know about La Rose Noire, but that's about it. Open Original Shared Link Thanks...
  9. Does anyone know if the alcoholic drink Alize is gluten free? Thanks

    ARCHIVED Japan

I would like to do a work term in Japan for my degree...so I would have to stay there for 8 months. Has anyone here been to Japan and had a good gluten-free experience? Thanks
  11. Hi, I was in Vegas for 6 days in August and had a great gluten free experience. People should not be discouraged from going, I had the most options there than any other places I have ever been to. I stayed at the Venetian and ate only in the restaurants there. I should add that they were pricey, but even breakfast at the Grand Luxe Cafe I had no problem ...
  12. I believe that someone mentioned Infusium hair products and I just wanted to add that I contacted the company by phone a few months ago to discover that they cannot guarantee their products are gluten-free. It could be hidden under 'fragrance'. gluten-free products I use: Dove Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash Lancome Juicy Tubes, Star Gloss, black eyeliner...
  13. Yep, the Smirnoff Twists are gluten-free, my drink of choice! The strawberry is my favorite. My question is about liqueurs....are all of them okay? I don't really know much about their ingredients. Thanks
  14. I couldn't really find out for sure when I tried. I think I ended up on a UK website that said they contained a small amount of gluten so I have avoided them, but who knows about North America. I use Fisherman's Friend, all of their flavours are gluten-free.
  15. I would bring your own gluten free pasta out for dinner with you...every place was accomodating when I did that. As for the gluten-free restaurants on the Italian website, I would ask the concierge at your hotel to phone and ask what the options for you are there.
  16. I know you can get the Bumble Bars in Canada. The one I tried was absolutely disgusting though. Theres ReBar bars that were alright and organic fruit bar things (yellow packaging)...if you look at the bar section at health food stores a ton are labelled gluten-free on the box they are in.
  17. Hi, I know you said you knew about the Italian website, but it is helpful and you DONT have to speak italian to use it. I can't speak a word and I was able to figure out all I needed...you just print out the restaurants for the regions you will be in, they all will be able to serve you. I went to a few of them and, at all of them, had good experiences. I...
  18. There was no problem bringing the food I brought across borders: sealed granola bars, bread, peanut butter, cereal. I actually brought a ton of stuff home with me, there are lots of goodies you can get in Italy but not at home...croissants yum! From my experience, I would say do not go to Germany if you are staying in hotels. Italy worked out ok.
  19. Hey, I'm also a university student so hopefully I can help. I often make all my meals first thing in the morning to take to school with me (and leave them in my boyfriend's fridge), so they need to be fast! My toaster is my best friend. I eat tons of Kinnikinnik honey brown rice bread with pb and honey. Almond butter's good too. I also use that bread...
  20. I have eaten the chips on the gluten free list with no problem. I'm in Canada too and have not seen Lays Staxx labelled as gluten free. I think it is only labelled that way in the US. I have never tried the Staxx kind.
  21. hey, I have been to those places, but not while I was gluten free. I have only been on one trip (to Munich and around Italy) while on this diet and it wasn't too bad. For Italy, I printed out a list of gluten free restaurants and gelateria places. I did end up at some of them and they were quite good (I even got pizza once!). It can be a bit of...
  22. Can anyone tell me if cold-fx medicine is gluten free? Can't call them on the weekends
  23. Wow, thanks for sharing everyone! Its interesting to see how many people seemed to have been triggered by illness. I definitely thought a lot more people had symptoms from birth.
  24. Hi, I didn't really know where to put this but here it goes... Just out of interest, I was wondering how everyone here acquired celiac...born with it? induced by illness/pregnancy? Its been confusing for me to try and figure out how long I have actually had celiac disease and what actually caused it so I am interested to hear people's stories...
