  1. Guess what? We have another symptom that we are curious if it related to Celiac. My husband has had dry skin on his upper back, chest, top of forehead around the hairline & around his nose on & off over the years but ever since he got sick & then diagnosed, it has been much worse. Is this at all related to Celiac? Does anyone else have this...
  2. It could be the sodium. I'm not sure. He ate a massive amount of Lays Stacks this weekend. They seem to be a bit better but when he sits for long periods lately, his hands & feet swell. They weren't hot but just felt like they were going to burst they were so tight. I just thought that circulation problems could be related to Celiac.
  3. This weekend, my husband & I went to the Nascar race in Bristol. This was our first adventure after being diagnosed with Celiac. He seems to do fine with finding foods that he can eat but for some reason he had trouble with walking & swelling in his lower legs & hands. His calves were so swollen that it looked like they were going to bust....
  4. Thanks! I'll check that out soon. I've already gotten some good information on here & hope for more.
  5. Welll, I guess it is a toss up with Cracker Barrel. I still can't get a response from them on anything to do with gluten. I'd say that is a sure sign that they don't have anything that would be good for my husband to eat or they just don't care. So I guess no more Cracker Barrel for us.
  6. I was wondering what everyones take was on salad bars. How safe do you think they would be as far as being gluten free? Lots of cross contamination? Certain items better than others?
  7. Well, I'm not glad to know that lots of people have the same problems but I am glad to know that it is "normal" for celiacs. He does so much better when he is totally away from gluten. I guess you can't help but slip up here & there. The past few days he has been doing really well as far as the anger goes but instead he is achy all the time. I guess...
  8. Thanks for all the advice. We are going to give it a whirl & do our best to stay gluten free. What about salad bars? Anyone have any thoughts on how safe they are?
  9. Well, atleast it sounds like it will eventually subside. He says it seems to get worse each day. I hate that for him. I just wish I could make it all better. Anyway, he has an appointment with a nutritionist & hopefully that will help. I'm thinking he may be having gluten from a source we are unaware of & they will be able to steer us in the...
  10. My husband & I eat the Land o' Frost lunchmeats. They sell them most everywhere & I have several varieties to choose from.
  11. My husband & I are getting ready to go on trip for 3 or 4 days & I'm sure we will be eating out quite a bit. We are aware of certain restaurants with gluten free menus but my question is what type of foods would be the safest to order without actually having a gluten free menu for places we stop to eat that don't list a specific separate menu for...
  12. I didn't want it posted under friend & family of celiacs though. I wanted it under coping with celiac.
  13. How do I delete a topic once posted? I posted to wrong area & then reposted so I need to delete the old one.
  14. I was curious if aching bones & pain in general are part of having Celiac. My husband seems to ache & hurt all over. I would like to do what I can to help him feel better but am unsure what to do. Has anyone else experienced this & if so what can be done. It seems to be an ongoing problem for him.
  15. I don't think anyone is mad. I just think it is a touchy topic & people take stances on it & stick with it. I think overall everyone wants to help but we all go about it in different ways. I have only been on here a few weeks but I have found so far that everyone seems to be very helpful & full of tips & such. Stick with it & keep researching...
  16. When I found out my husband had Celiac it was just a natural reaction for me to learn all that I can & help him in anyway possible because I love him so much & want him to be well. The only reason that I could think of for your husband to be that way is simply not understanding. As soon as I read about it before he was diagnosed, I knew how serious...
  17. Does anyone know a website where I can get some Celiac merchandise where the money, or part, will go towards research of Celiac? I am looking for maybe a tote bag & a couple of cute tshirts for my daughter. I have heard alot about a Silly Yak website but wanted to see what everyone else knows first. Thanks!
  18. Heinz ketchup & French's mustard are what we use. Hellmans mayo is also big in our household.
  19. Anyone know of a gluten-free bread place in Kentucky or nearby?
  20. A lot of people don't understand & just think it is a simple allergy & don't realize all the damage that can be done by not strictly being gluten free. I think maybe some people just don't want to understand. I've even run into people who seem to think it is some new diet or something. Anyway, all you can do is try & educate people or move...
  21. Could I have a copy also? Thanks so much!

    ARCHIVED Wendys

I would assume it isn't totallyunsafe to eat fast food. I thought I saw a lot of posts about what items are good at McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc. My husband eats at one of those most every day when he goes for lunch at work.
  23. Can anyone tell me if it is common to people with Celiac to have major mood swings & sudden outbursts of anger and to get very irritated for no apparent reason. My husband is the sweetest man alive but sometimes since he started to get sick & lose weight through now he has - out of the blue - mood swings, sudden anger & gets very irritable. ...
  24. My husband loves Cracker Barrel restaurant. We searched & searched & can't seem to get any info on their gluten free items. Does anyone know? It's an emergency. Ha!
  25. He received pretty much the same instructions but I thought most broths & bouillons were not gluten free. I'm getting mixed info.
