  1. Our cats were both from a rescue foundation. I hate pet stores that sell animals and I'm also hugely anti-declaw. My bf thought declawing was fine and then i explained what it actually is and he was appalled. My kitty has feline herpes in her eye ( little squinty cat) and they came with some heath problems but we've taken care of most of it and for having...
  2. I've been feeling bad about feeding my cats brand cat food for a while, this is just the impetus I needed to change thier food. Have to go to the special Pet food store in addition to the special me-food store. I have boycotted Petco due to some questionable practices in this area with thier pets they sell. I used to go to Centinela Feed, which is a SoCal...
  3. I might have to switch to gluten-free cat food, just cause my kitty Tulip is a licker. We have two cats, mine is the snuggly one and his is the aloof no-nonsense cat - that plays fetch. But Tulip likes to lick my hand when I'm petting her, or my arm, or my cheek, etc. Kitten kisses! I do have a seperate kitty food sponge already. I'll check out the suggestions...

    ARCHIVED Sports Team

I'm a red sox fan because my boss is and 'ware anyone who isn't - lol. And I don't know a single thing about baseball, so I just go with it. I'm not a big-event goer to, except for maybe RenFair. Elonwy
  5. I was having such a good day yesterday. I felt so good. Wasn't that hungry for dinner, had a late lunch, had that horrid pasta disaster, decided to have rice bread toast with some melted cheese for dinner. Clean out toaster oven, wash hands, put new foil down, insert my bread. Cats are bugging me. Grab dry food bag, dish out cat food. Think to myself, hmmmm...
  6. I had my second major YUCK today. The first was trying to make Buscuits from Arrowhead Mills gluten-free Baking mix. It was like eating sand. Today I tried to make DeBoles Rice Shells & Cheddar. It started out well, I've been having good luck with Rice pasta, but then I noticed some of the shells would NOT come off my stirring spoon. I drained , then...

    ARCHIVED Wendys

Whoa - sour cream!?! My Knudsens ( kraft) doesn't say gluten-free but doesn't have anything in it's ing thats scary and I thought kraft was good about thier labeling. Is it not gluten-free? I don't feel sick and I had some saturday. AAAAA! Elonwy
  8. I'm sure. We have game night parties where I have my friends over and we play stuff like Cranium or Spoons ( a really fun -crazy card game). My boyfriend and I have lego wars, and we're both 27. I have a humungous stuffed animal collection. Just because you grow up doesn't mean you have to stop having fun and playing. My therapist says its healthy so I'm...

    ARCHIVED Anger

One of the biggest reasons I pushed to try to find out what was wrong with me was I was turning into a b@%ch. I'm a very easy-going, hard to ruffle person and over the past six months I was snappy and grouchy and sad and ANGRY! I'm starting to feel like myself again, but there is lingering sadness and a little bit of grouchyness, some caused by just dealing...
  10. I actually realized, this is a teenagers only section - oops. I'm 27, so a bit older, but I still play with legos and board games Elonwy
  11. I had some friends that were on the Vegan Raw diet, absolutely no cooked food and nothing from animals. I was sooo sick after eating at thier house. I eat alot of veggies and everything, but my system could not cope with that much Raw food. I would not suggest jumping into that one feet first, especially for us sensitive tummy types. My bf was also sick as...
  12. Welcome. I'm in Los Angeles, but I've only known about celiac disease for a month and been gluten-free for two weeks. The bad news is - its really scary, and overwhelming and huge. The good news is - the people here are awesome, and talking on this web site has made my life so much easier and allowed me to put so much in perspective. And its only been two...
  13. Went to Laguna Beach for the weekend with my bf and his mom and his mom's bf. BF is awesome, is right along for the ride with the gluten-free thing now that he's adjusted. Mom is super-sweet, brought corn chips and gluten-free salsa so I would be sure to have a snack, and talked to me for a long time about what I can and can't have, as this is new to all...
  14. I get the same thing! What is that about? I'm just now getting to the point where I'm not peeing constantly. It started when I began to go gluten-free. Elonwy

    ARCHIVED Stomach Pain

I got glutened on Wednesday and had a stabbing burning pain in my upper chest area ( esophagus- felt like BAD reflux) that turned into a dull stomach pain/nausea that spread to my back. It was starting to hurt so bad I was having trouble breathing and downed some Pepto to fix it. I'm on Acid blockers and shouldn't be having an reflux problems. I think it...
  16. Being a teenager sucks, and being a sick one even worse. It gets better, I swear. Don't feel bad or guilty for being sick. It's not your fault. And kids exist for parents to spend money on. It's just life. It all comes round in the end, because after a while when you're older you'll start helping them out and it all goes round full circle. I agree with...
  17. I'm a girl. I read somewhere that there were more girl Celiacs than boys. We definitly talk more than they do Elonwy
  18. Open Original Shared Link I know alot of people here go to this web site but I wanted to draw attention to the fact that we can email in our responses to the questions to help them determine how to create better gluten-free labeling. The more the merrier I say! Elonwy
  19. I got my dining card from the celiac sprue association's intro packet. Its more in depth than the other ones, and makes recommendations for what you CAN have too, which i like. www.csaceliacs.org hth Elonwy
  20. I think people don't like being reminded of how frail we are. My cousin's husband seemed to cringe from it. And "Forgot" constantly. I now have a larabar on me at all times just in case. They are yummy, but you may want to work up to the Cherry Pie, its a little tart. That way I'm never left hungry and feeling left out. The suggestions for gluten-free BBQ...
  21. Its definitly a struggle. We have a staff lunch coming up, and they ordered nothing I can eat. I got the list of what they ordered and called the catering company and they are sending me a plain peice of meat with some veggies on a special plate with my name on it. Work is easier because they can get in trouble. As far as BBQ's .... I'm going to one next...
  22. So here's my problem. I was really bad with lotion until I discovered Aveeno products, which I'm no longer comfortable using because of the oatmeal and occasional wheat germ. I can't find another lotion that's close enough that I like. I really liked the thick gooiness, and I hate these lotions like olay and suave and caress because they make me feel sticky...
  23. Details- details. I'm in Los Angeles, for reference on the locations. Sorry about that. Elonwy
  24. So my cousin was in town for her birthday so I was a tour guide for three days. Which means we ate out constantly. I wasn't really ready yet, but what'r you going to do. Not like they're gonna let me bring an Amy's meal into the restaurant. First day we had sushi for lunch, that was fine, bland without soy sauce, but whatever. Second day went to Cafe Laurent...
  25. I have the same thing. It drives me crazy 'cause I'm a bit of a work out nut - and since I started getting sick haven't been able to because I haven' thad the energy. It's kind of nice to know that it's not just me slacking off that's causing it but grrrrr. Elonwy
