It does?? I guess my whole carpet is one gigantic magnet for dirt now. I have a hard time with hair products mainly because of the fragrances...but I've also had bad reactions to some of the natural ones because of salicylates (I think). I use Garnier Fructis shampoo. It works good and doesnt make me sick. I used to wash my hair daily... -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
haha.....hairspray is definately a priority. I use Finesse....its gotta be unscented....it works really well. Its one of the few things that I was using BEFORE I got sick and didnt have to switch. Some of the other hairsprays totally kill me. One thing I had to do without was mousse. I used to use it to "scrunch" my hair when I got out of the... -
ARCHIVED Reacting To Not Common Things
Rachel--24 replied to nfady's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am sensitive to alot of things....aside from gluten. If what you're using is gluten free....then the reactions are most likely caused by some sort of intolerance that you havent yet identified. Since you mention oils, lipstick, creams and vegan bars....you may want to look into "salicylate inolerance".....thats just one of many possibilities. Good... -

Andrea, bummer that you cant keep the appt.....but holding onto the money right now isnt a bad idea. I'm trying to do the same....but not too good at it. The economy stuff has me kinda scared. Paula.....last time you had mother/daughter day I think you had a really good day. Hopefully this one will be just as enjoyable. The fact that... -

ARCHIVED Gut Imbalance And Dysbiosis Behind Everything.
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
LOL...somehow we went from the effects of dysbiosis.....to the effects of antiperspirants. I agree with this too. In the months preceding my illness I was in more need of deodorant than ever before. I thought it was odd but during that time I still felt healthy. Obviously, my body was becoming more toxic and the increased body odor was a symptom... -

ARCHIVED Gut Imbalance And Dysbiosis Behind Everything.
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I totally agree Fiddle Faddle. I havent used any of the store bought antiperspirants/deodarants for a long time now....not even the ones that are aluminum-free. I actually use just plain ol baking soda. Its not blocking my sweat glands....but it totally controls odor. Works better than anything I've ever used...and it costs way less. -
ARCHIVED Casein Intolerance Linked To Gluten Intolerance
Rachel--24 replied to moldlady's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Raen....an allergic reaction is a different type of immune reaction then what's being discussed with regards to gluten and casein intolerance. An allergic reaction involves IgE antibodies....its an immediate reaction to a food that results in allergy symptoms. If severe, an allergy can cause anaphylactic reaction....and even death. Celiac Disease... -

Its amazing to me how much info. is available regarding MCS....compared to just 5 years ago. I remember that when I first started looking at this much of what I found was not helpful. Alot of it was suggesting that MCS was an "all in the head" type of illness. Also, there was not really any good info. as to specific causes....and most everything... -

I'm kind of jumping all over the place tonight....just randomly responding to stuff in no particular order. Thats just kind of how my brain is functioning today. I'm a little "jumbled". I think Christina asked me several pages back if I'm still using enzymes?? I'm still taking AFP Peptizyde (the brownies are not gluten-free/cf). I sometimes... -

Thanks Andrea....I cant wait to TELL you guys about it!! It seems like the day is never gonna come! Unless something changes...I'm looking at 19 more days. I think I might be the least patient person on this thread. -

Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Welcome Mslee! I would think that if you are becoming increasingly sensitive to chemicals that you might want to consider looking into things that might be burdening your liver. These would be the most common factors in MCS (according to my doctors). Heavy Metals Toxic Mold Exposure Toxic Chemical Exposure Lyme Disease In most cases... -

Hope its going well Paula. Never worn a vest!! Ok....now I know how you felt when you read that I'd never worn pink! Another thing we dont have in common. Its baby steps with the pink.....so I definately havent reached the point of actually purchasing a pink vest. Maybe next year. I wonder if somewhere out there... -

ARCHIVED Gut Imbalance And Dysbiosis Behind Everything.

Stress is a major factor in chronic illness.....and definately up there at the top of the list. I dont know anyone with any type of chronic illness in which stress didnt play a role (to some extent). The thing is that when we are under stress and especially when the stress is chronic....the immune system is suppressed. Also, stress increases the toxicity... -
ARCHIVED New Mystery Illness
Rachel--24 replied to btshea's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would look into what is causing the inflammation (especially infection but could also be additional food intolerance). Most likely this is why you are having issues with malabsorption. If the problem is yeast.....antibiotics would likely make it worse. You might want to consider testing to see if its SIBO before taking any antibiotics. It could be yeast... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Vs. Gluten Sensitivity
Rachel--24 replied to happygirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
What I meant to say is that when IgA deficiency is found....they would have to repeat the Celiac tests and check only IgG antibodies. The Celiac panel consists of 4 tests....plus the one for IgA deficiency. Every test is checking the IgA antibodies....except for the antigliadin IgG (which by itself is not specific for Celiac). So when IgA deficiency... -
ARCHIVED The Lyme Disease Thread
Rachel--24 replied to CarlaB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Nora, I had read through some of that thread on LymeNET Europe awhile back. Some of the people posting there (including the one who started the topic) were banned from LymeNET for basically being rude and constantly bashing the alternative treatments. They were not allowing people to freely discuss these topics, share experiences, etc. Its ok to disagree... -
Same here...my reactions to coconut had nothing to do with its antifungal properties.

I have gotten mouth blisters from foods containing sulfites. I would say that the mouth ulcers you get from wine are caused by some type of sensitivity....sulfites would be a strong possibity. Unless a product specifically states that the coconut is not preserved with sulfites...I just assume that it is. Unless its coming right out of the shell I think...
