  1. Any way you can stock up on all the stuff she *might* want to eat if she gets in the mood? She probably doesnt have alot to choose from at once. Could you designate a place with all her food that noone else can eat so that she cant make excuses that there is nothing to eat?? Let her pick out what she wants and enough different items that she wont get bored...
  2. Mango, I dont know anything about Sydney but Australia is one of the places I'd like to visit someday. Mostly I just wanted to say that I'm sooooo jealous of the gluten-free pizza you're eating in your avatar. looks yummy!
  3. So far so good. I havent had any side effects from taking it. Its only been 1 week yesterday so still to soon to tell if its gonna help me or not. I'm feeling pretty good now that I'm getting over the mess I got myself into last week.
  4. Judy, you are on a roll today! Your friend is jealous cuz she gained all her weight back and you're looking good. She's not blind....just green with jealousy! Patti, thats how I'm figuring I'm gaining a couple pounds back...without the scale all I have is my pants to clue me in.
  5. Julie, your post made me laugh. I dont really have a new sweetie....just a friend. I'm not trying to rush into anything yet....just getting to know people. He is very sweet though so ya never know. I'm not usually much of a "gusher" so maybe thats a good sign?? Andrea...My mom isnt that much bigger than me but like most women she is obsessed...
  6. My mom went on vacation this week and apparantly she brought the scale with her! I cant tell if I'm gaining my weight back but it seems like I am...I know for sure I'm not losing anymore. I've been hanging out with someone new and having alot of fun. Tonight he said when I get better he's gonna take me out for a big juicy burger....apparantly...
  7. Are you trying to get tested for Celiac? First no GI will test fecals for Celiac...thats not how they diagnose....they do bloodwork or biopsy. Isnt a sigmoidoscopy something like a colonoscopy but less complete? Thats not how they test for Celiac either. You would need bloodwork done and there are specific tests that should be ordered as far as that goes...
  8. I dunno. Again, maybe I'm weird. Clearly in the minority. I got a regular cake for my birthday from my boss and everyone at work and I was just "stoked" to have a cake (gluten-free or not). I found out later they had discussed it and one person was against the idea but my boss decided to go ahead and get the cake cuz what would it be like with no...
  9. I know of good doctors here in CA. Sorry dont know about Iowa. I had alot of doctors who knew nothing about Celiac....I had already done lots of research and been on this board awhile and could easily tell that these doctors were clueless. I never thought I'd find a doctor more knowledgeable than I was but by chance I did....I found a doctor who I could listen...
  10. I don't think people (for the most part) intend to be inconsiderate or rude. Its just that its not their diet and so its not on their mind the way its on ours....at nearly every meal. It doesnt bother me when people eat other stuff in front of me. Maybe I'm weird but I want to see it and smell it and know that someone else is totally enjoying their meal...
  11. You dont have to have any more tests. You dont have to prove anything to the doc....only to yourself and it sounds like you're convinced. The scope is not going to give you answers now that you've already been gluten-free....it will likely be negative regardless. Why does he need to scope you from both ends? A colonoscopy has nothing to do with ruling celiac...
  12. Yeah! If theres nothing to match the shoes...that can easily be fixed....just buy more clothes! How was everyone's holiday? I had a great view of the fireworks last night...we were on top of a hill. I could see the firework shows all over the Bay Area from Santa Clara to San Francisco. It was awesome. Those were all previews though...we had the...
  13. Hmmm...When I was first researching all this MSG stuff I came across alot of info regarding studies that were done on lab animals. I never bookmarked any of them but I'm sure I could find it again...I'll post some links when I have time to look for them. Getting ready to go see fireworks now. Happy 4th everyone!! Oh....as far as the learning disabilities...
  14. Yeast will always come back if the intestinal lining is damaged (leaky gut). My Naturopath says treating yeast is kind of pointless unless you've adressed the underlying causes first. If you've got an overgrowth...theres a reason for it....something is weakening the immune defenses. My doctor treated people for yeast for several years. Diet and supplements...
  15. I agree with all the previous posts. Whenever I read a post such as yours where a person has found out about this before they've had to go through many years of pain and illness I think to myself "This person has just been given a gift". Its almost like a free pass...you get to see into the future and you have the ability to prevent all the bad stuff from...
  16. The endoscopy was a piece of cake. I was a little out of it for a couple hours but then back to normal. You should be fine to work the next day. For my colonoscopy the doctor told me if I work on my feet then its best to take the following day off...so they gave me a note for 2 days off.
  17. I think if a guy's gonna like you he's gonna like you regardless of what you can or cant eat. A "good" guy will anyways. Theres alot of good guys out there...you just gotta wait till the right one comes along. Since I've been sick I've met even more nice and caring guys than when I was healthy. I seriously cant eat hardly anything and I cant drink anything...
  18. I had a stool test. Its done over 4 days. Different samples each day. I didnt have any parasites but had a bacteria overgrowth and candida overgrowth. I took antibiotics for the bacteria and was suppossed to retake the stool test but havent got around to it yet....still need to do that. Nobody could ever find a cause for my ongoing symptoms....I wasnt getting...
  19. Yeah...thats pretty much how I felt when I found all this out. I actually react to the MSG in the produce so it really sucks....there is no way to know whats been treated with it and what hasnt. I just keep gambling and I was doing real good for awhile and then I lost with some Auxigro treated sweet potatoes and yams...now I'm real sick.
  20. Hi...I'll try to anser some of your questions as best I can. First I just want to point out that DQ3 is not a Celiac gene but a sensitivity gene instead. I have DQ1 and DQ3 also and they are both sensitivity genes. The Celiac genes are DQ2 and DQ8. A very small percentage of diagnosed Celiacs do not have either DQ2 or DQ8 so they have not yet determined...

  22. They treat the crops (both organic and conventional) with a growth enhancer/pesticide called Auxigro which contains 30% MSG. They claim its safe and "natural". Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  23. Does anyone know if when we are not absorbing well (i.e. undigested food particles, weight loss, etc) are we also not absorbing meds as well either? I just wanna make sure all mt ketotifen is getting absorbed....not that I can really do anything about it if its not. All last week when I had the loose stools I didnt feel any drowsiness from the meds...
  24. Hehe....it really was the sweet potatoes though! Are you gonna call the pharmacist? Talk about giving someone hope...he talks so highly of the Ketotifen you cant help but get excited. I cant wait till my next doctor appt. My doctor had put some other people on the med before me so they had a head start and I'm wondering how they're doing...
  25. I get burning on my face, shoulders, and upper back. I dont know if I get it from gluten ingestion....for me its mainly from MSG and Sulfites. It also causes IBS symptoms, tissue swelling in my upper body and a bunch of other symptoms. Alot of aching in my shoulders and my whole upper body. The burning happens on my tongue too. Not fun at all. Oh yeah...I...
