ARCHIVED Tinkyada Pasta
Rachel--24 replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I love Tinkyada pasta. I was just curious though....does anyone know why when you cook the noodles the water turns sorta cloudy and even sorta thick sometimes? I wasnt a cook at all until I had to go on this diet and in "my previous life" (as I'm calling it now) I ate alot of mac & cheese from the box but the water never turned thick and white like... -

I dont think I need supplements. I just got it into my head when I started reading about Candida that I needed to take all this stuff but the only thing that really helps me is eating right and avoiding the stuff that causes symptoms. When I do this my skin looks healthy, my hair looks healthy and my mind is clear. I never took vitamins or pills my whole... -

I'm pretty sure its in the organic stuff too but I'm not 100% positive. Since they don't acknowledge MSG as harmful they can put it in whatever they want. Its considered GRAS (generally recognized as safe). Because of that label there is no limit on how much gets added into our foods. Yeah....I think its getting to that point of having to grow your own if... -

Ooops, didnt mean to freak you out! There are actually a few other low phenol foods...most of which I cant tolerate. Like soy and dairy. I was going to the extreme so I could really see if the phenols were my problem or not. I havent drank tap water in over 3 years. Before I got sick I didnt drink much water (soda and more soda). I only drink bottled... -

Julie, I did this diet a little over a month ago. I was eating only cabbage, leeks, chicken and pears. These have no phenols but I got WORSE. My face was getting puffier and puffier....I didnt know what to think but figured it was from the chicken or something. I was still on my supplements at the time too so that diet just made things worse for me.... -

I stopped buying farmed fish awhile back. I only eat wild now. I had some really bad experiences with salmon...I figured it was the color they add into it. I've eaten wild salmon since then w/out the symptoms. Christina, I tried to eliminate phenols with a salicylate and amine free diet....even changed my make-up and all that. I didnt get better... -

For anyone interested...this is the most complete list I was able to find of all the names MSG is "hidden" under. Its shocking. -

Calicat, Im so glad I mentioned the whole msg thing now cuz at first I wasnt sure if I wanted to post it. Basically cuz each week it seems like something new with me. I just think each discovery is leading me more to the real problem and maybe this time I got it right. I don't know but sheeesh its bound to happen...by process of elimination alone... -

Mango...they only have to identify MSG in a product if they actually *add* it into the product. Soooo....what they do intstead is *process* it into another ingredient and its labeled as corn syrup, natural flavors, carageenan....whatever. They can even put on the label "No MSG" even though there's plenty....but they didn't *add* it in. It was already processed... -

Dani, thats exactly like me...my face gets really puffy sometimes. It changes my features....noone else can notice...but its there and I can feel it. Gosh...we are one frusterated bunch arent we. Well at least we're a determined bunch. Well...I know I dont have Celiac cuz my problems are different and I dont have a main gene and yeah...people... -

Julie....I was wondering about all this stuff too. Leaky gut occurs in the intestines though....not the stomach...so maybe there is a difference? In my mind I feel that my body can do its own repairing and all this crap in a bottle is getting in the way. All the chemicals in the food are also getting in the way. Also what do you think about this? I was taking... -

Ok....so I had a Dr. appt. tonight. My Dr. wasnt available so I had to see someone else (my Dr's wife). They work together. Anyways I told her about what I discovered as far as the MSG thing. I was telling her everything and about my symptoms and what my experience has been. She told me that she had one other patient that had discovered MSG was her problem... -
I dont get why the doctor said you cant do it? Isnt that the purpose of the diet? If you already know you're allergic to wheat you wouldnt be eating it anyway....you would be eliminating other foods that could potentially be problematic for you.

My GI doctor told me my digestion is very slow....is this the same thing as slow emptying? He didnt seem concerned about it.

Sorry, I dont have the answer about the corn chips but just wanted to say your new avatar cracks me up. Hope you're feeling better today (read your posts from the other night). edit: ooops...you were asking about tortillas not chips. Sorry still dont know but I think lots of people do fine with the Mission corn tortillas. -
Yes, I agree with Lisa.....could you provide more background/info? Also is that all you had? Did you drink anything?

I'm pretty much doing what the site recommended as far as elimininating the potatoes, grapes and berries. I'm not eating tomatos, broccolli and mushrooms either. I only get organic stuff and I peel everything....I've been doing this for awhile though so its nothing new. I dont do well with the skins on stuff. I'm not having any dairy for awhile...I... -

Thats what I'm gonna do! How does it taste? They say its safest to make your own and I have an ice cream maker from years ago that I never use. I'm gonna try it....but not until I've been on my caveman diet for awhile. -

Yeah pretty much all ice-cream has MSG in it. Its never labeled as MSG though. Where do you find ice cream with only those ingedients. I bought Breyers "all natural" and it has milk, cream, sugar, natural flavors. Natural flavors = MSG.....theres really nothing natural about it. Lots of stuff says "all natural" on it but its just to fool us....its not really... -

I've pretty much reacted to all those things off and on...sometimes I can tolerate them. Its only when I'm already really messed up that I start reacting to these foods so I dont know if it has anything to do with the Auxigro....or just cuz I'm reacting to everything regardless. However a couple weeks ago I was feeling good and was eating poatoes from... -

Wow....that would be so awesome. It seems like alot of the people I've seen post on the message board cant tolerate any but I'd rather be optimistic about it. I think some people can handle small amounts...like a couple spoonfuls of ice cream once a week. I dunno if I could stop at just 2 spoonfuls though. Last time I ate the whole quart. My reactions... -

Yeah...thats true....forgot about that!! I always read that peanuts are bad...the're not allowed on any of the various diets but I forget why. Theres something toxic about them. I freakin love peanuts. Dani....thats how my rash looks....its tiny little bumps around my mouth...not on my chin though. The bumps are so tiny only I can see... -

CaliCat, Omg....I cant believe how similar our symtoms are! I have a strong stretching or pulling type feeling too...it hurts my jaw. I get the swollen veins everywhere....I can see them in my temples, hands, arms and feet....sometimes even on my chest. Yes, my neck swells too. When I push on any area of swelling it creates more pressure in other areas...
