  1. Have you looked into whether or not this product is safe for you? Its not a gum (as far as I can tell) and its made specifically for those who cant tolerate xanthan or guar gums. Open Original Shared Link
  2. Ditto for me. I never noticed it until after being off gluten a long time and now that I've also eliminated corn I really can tell when I've eaten something wrong. Reflux is new to me and I dont like it. I get it in conjunction with bloating, cramping and a fast heartbeat.
  3. I don't have to do it now. He feels its not necessary plus I don't wanna go through it again.
  4. How long have you been gluten-free? It could be that you are going through withdrawls but then feel better when you give in and have some gluten. Its like a smoker whos trying to quit or an alcoholic who's trying not to drink. They will feel better when they give in to the cravings but ultimately they are harming themselves. If you havent really been off...
  5. Robbin, I believe its grown on corn. I think yeast is grown on corn too. I've read so much in the past 2 weeks its hard to remember everything but I think thats what the deal is with xanthan gum. Thanks for the ingredients. See how easy it is to miss things when you don't really know what the heck you're trying to avoid in the first place...
  6. I hope everything goes well on Monday. I think you are in good hands with him. I really feel I can trust him. My other doctors from Kaiser were nothing like this so I'm still kind of shocked when I see him and he is so thorough. When I was really sick and could hardly stand (pre gluten-free) I was begging Kaiser to send me to Stanford or Davis or *anywhere...
  7. Julie, OMG.... Back in December I discovered those tortillas and started eating them everyday for a couple weeks. I got so much sicker but I was always sick so couldnt tell what was what but I stopped eating the tortillas. I actually returned an unopened package to the store cuz I just didnt want to eat them anymore. They were good though and I was sad...
  8. Donna, I get the nerve headaches too. I actually get facial swelling and I can see and feel the veins pulsing in my temples and other areas on my head. My veins get swollen all over my body but since I went corn free its only happened a couple times when I've made mistakes. Its been 2 weeks now and I still have the 10 lbs. I gained! This never happens...
  9. Thats awesome Dani! I'm glad you're feeling normal again...I knew it would happen! Now you just have to make sure your wedding cake is gluten AND corn-free.
  10. All of the problems you listed can be caused by celiac (not too sure about the blood sugar though). Are you not on the diet? If not, you really need to be. If the test was positive and the numbers were triple the normal range its not something to be ignored. Most if not all of your symptoms are probably due to the fact that you're still eating gluten.
  11. Wow, we do get alot of the same reactions. My hardest to deal with reaction is also brain-fog. It gets to where I cant really function at all. I had been on disability for 2 years and when I finally returned to work I wasnt able to go back to my old position because of the brain-fog. My work was very accomadating and I have a new position that doesnt require...
  12. Texas Celiac, I wouldnt get too worried about other foods right now....going gluten free is a major adjustment in itself. If you find the gluten-free diet isnt working for you then you may want to look into other possibilities. Lots of people do just fine only eliminating gluten. I tried a few different thyroid meds....levoxyl, levothroid, cytomel...
  13. I always react to Bob's...I cant say if its gluten, corn or both. It seems alot of people with only gluten intolerance react to the flours so I just dont trust them. I cant use them because all of the gluten-free flours are contaminated with corn....they dont clean the machinery in between runs. I ordered Miss Roben's and Bette Hagman's flour and I sometimes...
  14. Oh...another really obvious symptom I get is after I've eaten something wrong..my tongue turns white. I used to think this was candida because it was always there but once I started elimination diets it would come and go and I figured it was part of an allergic reaction. It shows up pretty much right after I've eaten the offending food....tons of fluid retention...
  15. Hmmm...I dont think I've seen any millet flour either (besides Bob's). I wasnt looking for that particular one because I've used the Bob's millet in the past and I didnt really like the taste. I'm still feeling good. I'm on my newly formulated thyroid meds now. I've made a few mistakes experimenting with new foods. The things I have the most trouble with...
  16. The symptoms you describe have been happening to me the whole time I've been gluten-free. I would get these "attacks" of feeling light headed, dizzy, shaky, sometimes a rapid heart beat and a feeling of extreme hunger. I would start binge eating. I posted about this a long time ago....I thought it was from gluten or maybe part of the healing process. Sometimes...
  17. I've only been using Ener-G rice flour this past week. All the mixes seem to have corn in them and Bob's is contaminated. I ordered a bunch of mixes and some flour from Miss Roben's allergy site. Its a dedicated facility as far as gluten goes and as far as corn....they thoroughly clean machinery after each flour so the risk of cc is very low.
  18. Last week I bought the Cuisinart bread machine w/ gluten free setting. It was $99. I havent gotten to try it out yet though...I ordered some mixes from Miss Roben's allergy site so I'm waiting for them to arrive before I break in my machine. I cant use any of the mixes I've found in the stores because of corn intolerance.
  19. After RAI my TSH went to 25.5 so I figured my fatigue and other symptoms were due to that but it persisted loooong after my TSH was normal...in fact it got worse. As soon as I changed my diet the fatigue improved dramatically.
  20. Texac Celiac and Nancy, I've alway wonered about this. I'm sure you could answer this one Nancy. Since we've all had RAI does this mean we no longer have Graves? Technically hasnt it been treated? Can it still harm us in any way?
  21. I think I'd be worried about Bob's the most. From what I read they dont clean after corn runs. Unfortunately I've only used Bob's all this time but am now going to switch. I've seen several posts on the corn forum mentioning contamination from Bob's but havent seen any other flours mentioned. I'm sure the possibility is there w/ all brands but especially...
  22. Iodized salt is derived from corn but sea salt is ok. I think this is one of the harder ones to remember and so many things contain salt.
  23. Anyone familiar with Togo's sandwiches? Maybe its just in California but I used to work there as a teenager and I've had hundreds of Togo's sandwiches over the years. Today I was really craving one big-time. A large turkey avocado with lots of mayo and some cheese sounds sooo good. I like Subway too but Togo's rules....the bread and meat is WAY better.
  24. I miss everything McDonalds...mainly Big Macs (my all-time favorite). I want cheeseburgers, nuggets, Egg McMuffins, fries...I want it all!! Nini, You're not gonna believe this but even though I'm a donut lover I've never had a Krispy Kreme donut. Maybe thats a good thing cuz I have no idea what I'm missing. I miss donuts in general....
  25. Julie, You also get alot of the same symptoms I get. I've had the fluid retention for 3 years now and before I restricted my diet it was really bad. All of my regular weight had been replaced by fluid and I'd wake up covered in lines and imprinted with whatever material I was wearing. Back then I was really messed up and had bruises all over and my hair...
