ARCHIVED Let's Talk About Poop For A Minute.
Rachel--24 replied to frenchiemama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That is definately the strangest thing I've read on this thread! A little scary too! -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
Rachel--24 replied to kallie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Drew, Thanks for your response. I did read everything Dr. Fine has said but for whatever reason I have days where I start questioning these results and doubting that gluten is the root of my problems. Not that I would think of actually eating it again...I just never realized that an "intolerance" to anything could cause so much damage. As stupid as... -
ARCHIVED Let's Talk About Poop For A Minute.
Rachel--24 replied to frenchiemama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yup Stephanie....everytime I see that face from now on I'll be thinking orange what??? Well I wasn't really too sure if I wanted to join in here but I just have to ask...what is up with the mucus? What causes that? Can it be caused by gluten? I guess I've become a little fascinated with whats in the toilet myself...I don't remember ever looking when... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms
Rachel--24 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for your reply I'm sure you're right...I just found out today that I've been eating some tortilla chips which are no longer guaranteed gluten-free. That could very well be the cause of my ups and downs the last couple weeks. I'll just have to wait it out...again. Oh yeah...I haven't eaten out in months and I dont plan on trying it till... -
ARCHIVED How Sensitive Are You To Gluten?
Rachel--24 replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Stephanie, Thats pretty interesting stuff. I was wondering why I'm so sensitive....I thought maybe its because I just started out. I have those intolerance genes so maybe it does cause extreme sensitivity. Also my symptoms come on strong but they are never in my gut. I don't feel anything in my gut but a couple days later I start dropping the pounds. Sometimes... -

ARCHIVED Celiac And Infections
Rachel--24 replied to thomas3000's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
*sigh* Yes...I filled up several of those small speciman bottles...over a 3 day period plus gave normal stool sample. Like I said, I've repeated this procedure 3 times now. Please don't ask me if the moon was full when I did this because I forgot to check. I've also done one blood test. I think we are done now. Take Care -
ARCHIVED Flu Like Aches
Rachel--24 replied to deb.h.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah...thats what I'm starting to figure out. I'm glad I saw your post cuz maybe now I have an explanation for these reactions I've been having. I also reacted to Glutino blueberry breakfast bars (which are really good). I don't know if there can be any contamination with these but I'm just going to stay away until I'm healed. Maybe then I won't be as sensitive... -
ARCHIVED Gluten On Apples - Reply From Company
Rachel--24 replied to Misa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for info. Misa! I recently discovered that I need to peel the skin off all my fruits. I guess I'm just super sensitive right now. I thought maybe it was gluten at first....but I'm happy to know that apples are safe. -
ARCHIVED Flu Like Aches
Rachel--24 replied to deb.h.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It was a list of gluten-free foods I printed from the Whole Food's website. I took the list shopping with me and only bought stuff off the list. I have the Delphi list too but I use that for the trips to the regular supermarkets. Like I said I'm new at this so I'm basically trusting these lists. DAMN...I just looked at the Delphi list. They will no longer... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Infections
Rachel--24 replied to thomas3000's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for your concern Thomas. Honestly I have no interest in testing again....its very costly and I've already got the results I needed. I've been gluten free for over 4 months now sooo...if they were hiding somewhere I'm sure they woulda come out by now. I also tested twice previously with negative results. Parasites may not be visible in the stool but... -
ARCHIVED Flu Like Aches
Rachel--24 replied to deb.h.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
OMG...I've been having symptoms for over a week now. I've been sooo careful with everything I eat. I've been eating the Garden of Eatin tortilla chips... I'm just learning...I've only been eating the "safe" foods. Those chips were on WF's gluten free list. -
ARCHIVED Still Sick; Korean Market?
Rachel--24 replied to musikate's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants

Good for you!!!! -
ARCHIVED Met With Nutrition "specialist"
Rachel--24 replied to redheadheather's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
From all that I've read it's the IgG which is less reliable for Celiac not the other way around. I think this "specialist" is giving you BAD advice. I would pursue further testing. Did he have the full panel? I think its 5 different tests. If he's going to be on the diet...what is the point if he's only going to do it part-time. I don't think that is the... -
Are you symptom free (other than the dry hair)? Did you have bad symptoms before going gluten-free that have gone away? Its possible you're still getting some gluten since you didn't change your beauty products. Have you had your thyroid checked...that is another possibility.

I saw the topic title and got all happy...I was ready to list all my fav. magazines. Got dumb for a second and forgot we were talking about celiac disease here. I guess I never read any gluten-free magazines so I can't respond

ARCHIVED Celiac And Infections
Rachel--24 replied to thomas3000's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thomas...if you're still around, I have nothing against alternative medicine..in fact I see an alt. doctor. My conventional doctors were only good for handing out prescriptions for meds which were unnecessary and only masking the underlying cause. I am on nobodys side here. The problem that I DO have is when people go to various message boards promoting... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Infections
Rachel--24 replied to thomas3000's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks...I know alot of people who would probably beg to differ! -
It seems like after I get an initial reaction I might feel bad for a day or two. Sometimes after this I'll start to feel better...maybe for a day...but then the symptoms will return. It will go back and forth like this for a couple weeks. Is this normal or is something else causing me to start feeling bad again? I'm wondering if other people get these "off...

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
Rachel--24 replied to kallie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do some Celiacs show up positive in the bloodtest (tTg) and still have no malabsorption or detectable damage to the intestines? I'm noticing that with Enterolab many people come back with positive IgA and tTg but with no malabsorption...I on the other hand had a high malabsorption rate but my IgA and tTg weren't off the charts or anything. Do the numbers... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
Rachel--24 replied to kallie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So...are they saying that an elevated tTg can be caused by *any* autoimmune disease or is it specific to gluten sensitivity only? I don't get it . What is the point of the test then? I already know I have autoimmune stuff going on since I had Graves disease...are they saying this can cause an elevated tTg? Their response just has me more confused. -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Infections
Rachel--24 replied to thomas3000's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My thyroid was overactive...to stop this autoimmune response my thyroid was intentionally destroyed with radioactive iodine...it is now underactive (which is the point of the procedure). It will never function normally again...no books...or second opinions are gonna change that fact. I take thyroid replacement and have no thyroid problems now. Thanks for... -
ARCHIVED I Want To Slap My Doctor In The Face
Rachel--24 replied to Lena's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I could be wrong here but I don't think that you can rule out celiac disease or gluten intolerance based on not having a certain symptom after eating gluten for a day. At least in my experience reactions are not reliable or predictable...they seem to vary. I've eaten pizza before and felt perfectly fine and other times I've had severe symptoms from eating... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Infections
Rachel--24 replied to thomas3000's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've had radioactive iodine treatment for Graves...so if they can reverse that and somehow give me my thyroid back I'd be very intereseted.
