  1. Does yours contain malt diastase too? I'm still going to call them and find out what that is cuz I feel like the vitamins are what was making me sick. I havent had any gluten-like symptoms since I stopped taking them....it took a week to recover but I'm good now. My hair stopped falling out so much too.
  2. The brand is Utrition..
  3. Oh yeah...this always makes me laugh. Great Smokies sends an info. packet with the results and a little card to carry around listing all of your sensitivities and the various levels of those sensitivities. So I have this card that just says Alfalfa 1+ & Mustard 1+ and then big empty blank space. Out of over 100 foods thats what I got! I'm definately...
  4. I'm curious to know how your results come back. Thankfully I'm not reacting to any foods now (that I'm aware of). I'm feeling alot better and have gained over 10 lbs. If I'm glutened I'm sensitive to foods for a few days while I recover. Obviously I had so much malabsorption from the gluten that I must have had damage causing me to react to everything...
  5. There are some tests for candida but none that are completely reliable. Candida is a yeast overgrowth in the intestines it is treated w/ antifungals, probiotics etc... If your docs are looking at you like you're a freak for having UC & celiac disease....they will likely think your crazy for sure if you mention candida! This is my experience anyway.....
  6. I don't get tummy aches so I'll have to sue them for making me lose 5 lbs that I worked hard to gain and also making me lose more hair! I called the company but was told there was noone there to help me...to call back later. Lame. I'm noticing that alot of vitamins and digestive enzymes have the malt diastase in them and also are labeled gluten...
  7. I did this type of testing...is it the IgG delayed-onset type your talking about? I did that test with Great Smokies...I didn't get a kit though..I had blood drawn at the doctors. Maybe you don't need a doctor to order the test through York? I've heard good things about them by the way. I had the test done 5 months back (pre-dx)...at the time I felt I...
  8. Yeah...I know. Neither do I.
  9. The label says free of all gluten & wheat products. I know about malt and Rice Dream but the labeling on this product has me confused.
  10. Ahhh....there you are...I just knew a full explanation was on the way.
  11. Same here...I eat only organic meats and Applegate Farms sausages.
  12. Well it would definately explain alot. How come the label says its gluten free? Can they just put that on the label even if its false? I would have figured it out alot sooner had it not been for that. Sheeesh. Thanks for letting me know.
  13. There is something toxic about farm-raised salmon with color added. I haven't done any research on it but I work in a grocery store and I know by law they have to put those little "color added" stickers on the package now. I kept buying salmon and everytime I ate it I felt worse...I always felt bad anyway so it took awhile to figure out the salmon wasnt helping...
  14. Mandigirl, He's talking about chronic conditions which may leave the immune system weakened and vulnerable to bacteria overgrowth. Any undiagnosed condition I suppose could lead to this. It would be most dangerous to a person with a very compromised immune system though...such as an AIDS patient.
  15. I have to admit I was pretty amazed myself...I thought he was an adult at first too. I read alot of his posts and was VERY surprised to find out he was 14!!!
  16. Thanks, Well noones said I could pass out from one of these episodes so thats a relief. I'll just keep munchies with me if I leave the house.
  17. Yes, there are brands that are gluten-free. Here are some: Act II Jolly Time Orville Redenbacher All variteies gluten-free except the caramel pour-over popcorn & Ultimate Theatre Style w/ BBQ Flavour pouch I'm sure there are more...I just got these from the list right now.
  18. Malt Diastase is an ingredient in my liquid vitamins. Does anyone know if it contains gluten? I read on another post that its from barley. The vitamins say "does not contain gluten products". The last time I had the vitamins was 1 week ago...I got a reaction later that day but assumed it was something I ate. Everytime I get a reaction I'll stop all supplements...
  19. I've never heard of that brand of popcorn. Do you have the Delphi list? I found it to be very helpful. I printed the whole list and then stapled each section. I filed each section into one of those folding type file thingys. I labeled each section so its very convenient. If I want to look for popcorn I just pull out the "snack foods" and just pick something...
  20. Nancy, I certainly wasn't "scolding" anyone. If it works for her I think its great. I'm simply saying that all I've read regarding those tests is negative. I wasn't spefically looking for info. regarding LEAP but when searching for accurate methods of allergy/sensitivity/intolerance testing I've seen LEAP mentioned numerous times as being a scam type of...
  21. George, Have you looked into other reasons for your osteo.? I'm thinking you probably have since you seem like one to do lots of research...like me. But just in case...overactive thyroid can cause osteo. and malabsorption as well. I'm sure there are plenty of things which can cause it but I'm only aware of the thyroid link since I have Graves disease...
  22. I think the blood tests can be innacurate....they might not have run all of the tests either. When I was still eating gluten I got down to 94 lbs....I could see undigested food just like you described. It was everything I was eating...lettuce, veggies, cookies, crackers...I'd see a whole bowl full of rice as if I hadn't even eaten it. My doctor told me this...
  23. I haven't read anything about LEAP testing that would lead me to believe it has any validity. I'm surprised a GI doc would order this type of testing???? If it makes you feel better though....who am I to question.
  24. I have 3 books..The Gluten Free Bible, Dangerous Grains, and Wheat Free, Worry Free. I don't think The Gluten Free Bible has harmed me in any way. However I don't read to find out what foods to eat, ingredients to watch out for etc...I already got all that info. from this site. Therefore I wouldn't consider it my gluten "bible" just another fun book to read...
  25. I know this to be true with thyroid testing so I'm sure the same things goes for most tests. I think since it's only happening after a glutening it may just be something my body's going through as it tries to recover. If it continues to happen in the absence of gluten I may have to ask you for some meal advice.
