  1. Thanks Bette That makes me feel sooo much better. Maybe I'm just finally having some healthy bm's which I'm not used to. They look foreign to me. Hopefully I'm on the raod to recovery.
  2. Occasionally I'm having very long and narrow curly s-shaped stools. I guess they look like the shape of the intestines?? Not really sure but they freak me out. They are unusually long. Its not happening frequently but I have seen these a few times. Is this something to be concerned about? I'm a little scared about it.
  3. Why would they refuse to test the kids if you were dx'd there? I thought that they would automatically agree that any family member should be tested??????
  4. That made me laugh!!!! Funny thing is if I never had to learn about this diet I would probably be one of those people who says "pasta has wheat?" I don't think I had ever read a food ingredient label in my life.
  5. Yup...I had zero sex drive for 2 years. I mean NO sex drive at all. It was the furthest thing from my mind but I was also extremely tired, depressed and in alot of pain. Who would be thinking of sex under those cicumstances? Well...my relationship didn't survive after 6 months like that. Now that I'm gluten-free my sex drive is back but I'm single now...
  6. My hair was falling out quite a bit when my symptoms first came on 3 years ago. I don't know if it was excessive back then because I had hyperthyroid going on at the same time or if it was just gluten. I didn't have bald spots but it was pretty close to bald at the temples. Its been off and on since then but never as bad as it was back then. I'm sure if I...
  7. You should NOT be eating corn pops. Just because you are not experiencing symptoms does not mean that you are not causing damage to your body. If I were you I'd definately stop eating Corn Pops and stick with the gluten free cereals. Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles are gluten-free.
  8. Cool...thanks Vydorscope! I thought I was losing my mind.
  9. OK...thanks Carrie. I'm pretty sure its ok cuz I'm almost positive I saw it on a list somewhere. I think I know where the gluten came from anyways but I got all freaked when I didn't see the Swiss Miss anywhere on the Delphi list...thought I was making mistakes all over the place.
  10. The package says its a Con Agra product. Does Con Agra hide anything?
  11. I bought Swiss Miss pudding and ate it (1 cup) about 5 days ago. I've been having mild symptoms all week but wasnt sure where it came from. I could have sworn Swiss Miss was on the Delphi list...thats why I bought it. Now I'm not seeing it anywhere and I'm freaking out that I made yet another careless mistake. Its got modified food starch but I thought...
  12. Has your wife been 100% gluten free? I have depression and lack of motivation when I have gluten in my system. She may have sensitivities to other foods as well. Has her thyroid been checked? Thyroid problems are common with celiac and can also cause depression.
  13. Cover Girl Continuous Color is gluten-free.
  14. I have loose floating stools also. Sometimes I can see clumps of lighter colored sections in my stool. I don't exactly know how to describe it but could this be undigested fat clumps??
  15. I know how you feel about "not knowing". My Enterolab results were positive for IgA, tTG and malabsorption. I had all the symptoms as well. I obviously need to be gluten-free and its definately making me feel much better. My malabsorption score was very high which would indicate alot of damage but my gene test revealed that I do NOT carry either of the main...
  16. Thanks for the ideas Jnkmnky, I'm having the same problem with all of a sudden spending tons of money on food. I used to eat all the cheap stuff like Top Ramen, mac & cheese and Taco Bell. I'm only buying the specialty gluten-free foods plus organic meats and veggies. I hardly get any food for the amount of money I'm spending. I used to get a whole...
  17. No kidding Stephanie! It was the OBGYN that first prescribed Prozac....I had refused it from the other docs in the past. This guy was real nice and he somehow talked me into trying it. He said I got all these symptoms cuz I was type A and I pushed myself too far and ended up with depression. He said if I took the Prozac for 2 months I'd be brand new...
  18. Huh?? That was a really dumb thing for them to say. Well I am Spanish. Mexican/Spanish/Italian....I always thought it was the Italian in me that got me here. Never heard anything about Spanish. Anyways...obviously you know by now that you don't have to be Spainsh to have celiac disease.
  19. I think you may have misunderstood this. DQ2 is present in 31% of pop. DQ8 is in 12%. Those are the Celiac genes. The DQ1 gene is in 38%...but this gene is a gluten sensitivity gene rather then a Celiac gene. The 81% is not all Celiac genes...its a total of all gluten sensitivity genes. Also the statistics say 1 in 133 *have* active Celiac Disease...
  20. I have VERY bad reactions to aspartame. I never had a problem with it when I was healthy but now I don't even chew gum anymore. I'm still traumatized from the reactions I got more than 2 years ago. I've never tried any other artificial sweeteners...I don't drink/eat diet products.
  21. Awwww....sorry you had to deal with all that. You're much braver then me though...I haven't even thought about going to a restaraunt yet. Now that I've read you're post I'm sure it'll be even longer till I decide to eat out. I can't stop thinking about fresh bread and pasta now. I haven't thought about all that yet...I've just been sheltered...
  22. Just go to "my controls" and then go to Edit avatar.
  23. Lots of people eat raw eggs. They just dump em into a glass and drink them just like that. Suppossedly its really healthy but I don't know...I thought you could get salmonella from raw eggs?? Personally...I always stick to eggs that are cooked.
  24. I'm sure there is a specific antibody test or something to detect Hashimotos's. I'm not sure what test though...I was dx'd "hyperthyroid" in 99 and 3 years later I was told I had Graves Disease. It was probably Graves all along. I'm not sure what tests they used to determine Graves but I know I had an iodine uptake and a scan done. I saw pics of my thyroid...
  25. I lost tons of hair and then it grew back...then I lost it again. Its been off and on for me before diagnosis. Since I started the diet I seem to be losing it again. Its general hairloss so noone really notices but me. Luckily I had alot to start with.
