  1. I'm confused. Were they checking for vitamin deficiencies or Celiac Disease? What tests did they run? If they ran the right tests they'd be looking for antibodies to gluten not lack of nutrients due to gluten.
  2. I'm pretty new to the diet myself...I'm also new to the kitchen so I cant help out too much there. Better to leave that to the more "experienced" people here. Just wanted to say thats very sweet that you are showing interest in learning about Celiac for her. Even if she's just your friend I'm sure the gesture won't go unnoticed.
  3. I was having these episodes for awhile but I think it may have been from too much thyroid meds. I started a thread on this a few weeks back....apparantly lots of people get these "attacks". Open Original Shared Link
  4. Julie, What kind of thyroid problems did you have? Were you Hypo? Do you take meds? When I went gluten-free I got headaches and hairloss related to overactive thyroid. It was because more of my meds were being absorbed as I started to heal. I had to decrease the dose.
  5. Alot of people don't have the typical GI symptoms. My GI symptoms paled in comparison to everything else I had going on. I didn't really notice or pay attention to the GI symptoms until after almost 3 years of being sick. Thats when I lost alot of weight and started getting really bloated. I get mild cramps occasionally but thats about it...never had diarreah...
  6. I notice I've *totally* been doing that when I see commercials or basically anything that has to do with food that I can't eat. I work in a grocery store. I dont usually have to check out groceries but when I do I find myself thinking "Can't eat that"...*beep*....."can't eat that"....*beep*...."can't eat that"....*beep*. This is what I do the whole...
  7. Your doctor should have sent you to the GI *before* you went on the diet. Now you cannot be accurately tested for Celiac. It sounds like you could have Celiac. Are you 100% gulten free? How careful are you? You may be getting symptoms from gluten slipping in.
  8. My GI told me to wait 6 months before trying dairy again. I guess I wont know till then if I can eat it w/out symptoms or not.
  9. Nini, Do you think we can get these reactions w/out any damage occuring? The reaction is no big deal to me if I know its not hurting me. I'm still in the begining stage and don't want to have a setback everyday. I'm still trying to gain my weight back.
  10. Well...I'm back at work. This is my second week and everything is going great! I'm not doing my old job that was *right* next to the bakery. Instead I'm doing various jobs throughout the store (I work in a grocery store). They are waiting to see if I stay healthy and if I do they'll figure out what to do with me. I may be moved to another store...which...
  11. Stephanie, They wouldn't let anyone be in the room for the actual procedure. My mom was there during the preparation but then they sent her away until I woke up. Then they brought her back in. There wasnt really any time for questions. After it was over I *think* I saw the GI holding pics of what looked like my intestines. I had a million questions...
  12. I've been confused about this for awhile now. If tTG in blood is positive its highly indicitive of Celiac...right? If tTG is positive in stool (Enterolab)...what is that indicitive of? Many of the people with positive tTG don't have a celiac gene. I sill don't get it.
  13. Well I don't have to worry about any *false* readings with my tests. My IgG delayed-onset tests were negative for ALL foods. I only reacted to mustard and alfalfa (barely). I had these tests done when I was at my abosolute worst. Not absorbing anything...losing weight...reacting to EVERYTHING. I'm pretty sure I had leaky gut which was causing all the...
  14. Your doctor is wrong. From what I've read more celiacs have constipation than have diarreah. I don't know whether I have celiac disease or Gluten Intolerance. I think I cant have celiac disease w/out the gene but my GI says not-so. I'll probably never know "officially" what I have but I *do* know that I lost a ton of weight from malabsorption w/out ever having...
  15. Well I'm back and I survived the procedure. I'm pretty groggy right now...just want to sleep. I don't remember anything once they started the drugs. I was getting nervous during the preparation though. As many times as I've been poked with needles the last 3 years you'd think I'd be used to it...but I still don't like it. That was the worst part of...
  16. Hi, I'm having mine done in a few hours. I'm not scared or nervous at all. I only wish they would've done it when I was still eating gluten and sick. The test probably wont show damage now but at least I'll know if anything else is going on or not. Everyone says its no big deal...I'll let you know when I get back. Remember keep eating gluten...
  17. Erika, I know its alot to take in at once. I cried when I got my results too. From what I understand the numbers arent actually that important. A positive is a positive. They don't indicate severity of symptoms or damage. Of course you will want these numbers to come down and they will once she's been on the diet awhile. I wouldn't worry about those...
  18. Also I'm still in the beginning stages of the diet. (2nd month). When I slip-up my appetite sharply decreases. I have to force myself to eat because I dont want to lose weight but I always do regardless of how much food I eat after I'm glutened. After about 5 days my appetite will pick up and I'm starving...can't get enough. Very much like those Hyper days...
  19. Mary, Guess what! You are right on the money when you say it could be my thyroid. I test my thyroid quite frequently (every 3 months). I used to test every month when all these symptoms first started. My numbers were all over the place back then but always in the "normal" range. Well we both know the normal range is quite big. Ever since I started...
  20. Even though I'm sure I'm totally gluten-free I'm still reacting to something in my diet. I had ghee for the first time last week and had a major reaction. Looking back at my food diary I guess I've eaten dairy most days since I got my Enterolab results back. I was only worried about gluten since my milk test came back as a 9 (10 being positive). Now...
  21. Thanks Sue! Guess I will have to eat plenty today.
  22. I'm having my endoscopy tomorrow but I cant find my instructions and they are closed today. All I remember is the GI told me not to eat after midnight. Anyone know if theres anything else I need to do...can I drink water? By the way I started work last week after 21 months on disability. I made it the whole 40 hours with no problems! I was unable to...
  23. Since you have a moderate amount of yeast in your stool you may have a yeast overgrowth. This can be treated with antifungals such as Nystatin. Overgrowth can occur when their is an upset between the balance of yeast and beneficial bacteria in the gut.
  24. Hi Mel, I saw your post to me on the other forum but was unable to respond cuz I'm on a different computer this week and for some reason its not letting me log onto CureZone. I apologize. I had the IgG food sensitivity test done at Great Smokies...it was $350 and it came back negative for all foods. I had no IgG response to any of the foods...
  25. This is why I go around to various health forums and try to make people aware of celiac disease. Not surprisingly most people have never heard of Celiac even though they have all of the symptoms of it. Some are even aware of the fact that their bodies do not like gluten...but they have no idea what Celiac is. I figure its a win win if alot of these...
