  1. I'm wondering if L-glutamine comes in a pill. For some reason anything I take in powder form I seem to react to...including the L-glutamine. I'm wondering if its due to leaky gut...which I'm pretty sure I have. Anyways I want to heal my gut but not with something that causes a reaction.
  2. A couple days?? I don't know about that...I've been on the diet 8 weeks and I'm not "normal" yet. I do feel better but everyone tells me this didn't happen to me overnight and its not gonna go away overnight either. It will take some time to heal...I dont know what your doctor is talking about...if that were true what are any of us doing here. We shoulda...
  3. Thats OK...ask away cuz I never got an answer to that question.
  4. Yes...I do live near SF. I was born there and lived there when I was small. My Dad and brother still live there. I have friends there and as much as I love SF....I really have no desire to live there. I'm happy just visiting and I love the night-life, ball-games and shopping but then I love to go home where I can actually park in front of my house.
  5. My teeth used to hurt..my whole jaw hurt as well. I had TMJ and for some reason my teeth would hurt alot. It wasnt my most bothersome symptom but it must have been related cuz it all went away after the diet.
  6. I lost 3 years running from doctor to doctor as well. They didnt help me and of course just wanted me to see a shrink and an antidepressant would magically fix everything. I only tried Prozac for 2 months and it didnt do anything for me...I didnt really think it would since I knew whatever was going on wasnt in my head. I refused all the meds they were writing...
  7. How funny....thats exactly what I do. If its just an OK day I have a face with just a straight line mouth. No smile or frown.

    ARCHIVED Wary...

Personally...I believe in the validity of Dr. Fine's methods. At first I wasnt so sure but after lots of research I don't find anything to discredit him. As Tiffany already stated he has not published peer reviewed studies yet. The reason for using Enterolab is that some people dont want to go back on gluten for blood or biopsy tests. Also there are a larger...
  9. Ummm...I don't mean to disappoint you but its not necessarily a "milder" form of gluten intolerance. It can still cause you serious health problems including autoimmune diseases. It can also still damage the intestinal wall....its just not likely to cause the same villi damage that is seen in a Celiac but it is not a "milder" version. You can become just...
  10. No...it doesnt mean you're immune to Celiac. It just means that you dont carry the main Celiac genes so the chances of you developing villi damage that can be seen in the biopsy are pretty slim. You do carry Gluten Sensitivity genes which means if you're results were positive then you should remain gluten free. Were your results positive or did you only...
  11. Mine was a stool test...not blood. I'm not really sure what the difference is but here's my results. Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA 15 Units (Normal Range <10 Units) BTW....I was not consuming gluten for 4 months prior to my test but was still glutened from supplements, etc. Does anyone know if after 4 months this number would have come down...
  12. My symptoms usually last from a few days up to 2 weeks. I think it depends on how much gluten I have. These are my symptoms: -fluid retention -fatigue -depression/crying/irritablity/super overly emotional -brainfog -weight loss -increased food sensitivities/chemicals -burning/tingling sensations -muscle/joint pains -burning or blurry eyes -headaches...
  13. When symptoms first started 3 years ago I actually gained weight...I've always been small so I was happy to gain weight. I rememeber people commenting on me looking chubby and I knew my stomach was kind of looking pregnant but I didnt think too much about it. I stayed "bigger" looking for over a year but I was getting sicker during this time. I started noticing...
  14. Wow! No wonder you were dreading the scope so much! I didn't know you were partially awake last time! I cannot even imagine being awake for all that... I remember the mouthpiece and getting sprayed but right after that I was out. I would have been terrified if I had even *seen* the tube....let alone feeling them put it down my throat. The sedation...
  15. I lose weight FAST. Within a day or or 2 I'll notice about a 5 lb. loss and then I'll gain only water weight for about a week. I can get bloated and gain up to 7 lbs. in one day but then its gone the next day. My butt will totally disappear and I'll have wasted looking buttocks.
  16. Before the diet I was progressively getting worse. The only time I'd start to get better was if I was too sick to get out of bed and eat. If I didnt eat I'd start to feel better and of course as soon as I felt good I'd eat and be sick again. Back then EVERYTHING I ate had gluten in it. I lived off gluten which is probably why the first week of the diet I...
  17. Shannon, When I first lost alot of hair due to the Graves disease it took months to grow back. I remember thinking I'd surely go bald with the amount of hairloss each day. My doctor assured me that I wouldnt go bald and I didnt. Eventually I forgot about it as I started developing more worrisome symptoms from the gluten. Next thing I knew my hair had...

ARCHIVED Going Back To Gastro! Help!

My appetite is greatly reduced after I have gluten. I didn't have a healthy appeteite the whole time I was sick...I had to force myself to eat so that I wouldnt lose weight but it didnt matter because since I was eating gluten I lost weight anyways.
  19. That is a really cute story. Hopefully your daughter will always find friends like the one she has now in kindergarten.
  20. I guess I've been pretty fortunate about my workplace being supportive and understanding (for the most part). Even with all the sick days (too many to count), coming in late, leaving early and going off and on disability....they never gave up on me. Now I'm back to myself and I think everyone can see the difference.
  21. In my case I think I probably had the gluten sensitivity before I had thyroid disease. I've learned that Celiac or gluten sensitivity can be active long before symptoms appear. Like Kaiti said undiagnosed gluten sensitivity can lead to other problems. I cant really be certain of which came first but Thyroid and Celiac have a very strong link. I became aware...
  22. David, I know how you feel. I was sick for 3 years and had thyroid problems as well. I didn't know I had gluten sensitivity until only 2 months ago. I had alot of the symptoms you mentioned plus many more. At first I thought it was only my overactive thyroid causing the symptoms...I eneded up having my thyroid destroyed with radioactive iodine. This...
  23. I agree with the other posters...get your daughter on the diet. There *is* a strong connection between Lupus and Celiac. She will most definately benefit from being gluten free. I would also recommend reading "Dangerous Grains".
  24. I asked this question awhile back and it was determined that malt diastase is in fact gluten free. Here is that thread: Open Original Shared Link
  25. I don't drink alcohol of any kind right now and I dont intend to until I'm feeling 100% or very near it. I think it will definately cause problems and delay healing.
