  1. Thats great Nini! My attitude is improving already. Luckily I'm not like this everyday. If I really pay attention its very obvious. I'm working now. For 21 months I stayed at home...crying everyday, not able to get out of bed half the time, staring at the TV blankly and not wanting to see anyone or go anywhere. I couldnt make it to work no matter...
  2. I posted already on the other thread but I think it could mean Rule Out...but I'm just guessing.
  3. It probably means Rule Out Celiac???
  4. Oh yeah...this is something I do often. I go back to my old journal and I say WOW I've come a long way! I also remind myself of how licking envelopes would cause me to be in tears or how after eating Taco Bell bean burrito I broke out in rash and got very sick. Its funny how easy we can forget these things.
  5. Thanks to everyone for your replies. I appreciate all feedback...nothing is too harsh for me and it does help me to deal with stuff as it comes. This is why I love this board. Matilda, This is what my doctor told me as well. He told me I've done a great job identifying the problem on my own and making dramatic changes to my health with the diet...
  6. This is what I'm hoping for. I dont cheat nor do I ever have the desire to...I would LOVE to eat all the gluten-free foods and bake goodies and order Kinnikinnick donuts...but right now I react to so many foods I have to stick to "simple". It frusterates me... BUT if these things were to improve as my other symptoms did...I will have the confidence that...
  7. Glad you're party went well.
  8. Stephanie, I get what you're saying....as always. The thing is I'm not concerned about what others think. Actually nobody questions me being on the diet and those who are close to me would be VERY upset if I went off the diet or cheated in any way. So far everyone is cool about the diet and they'll ask questions....nobody looks at me weird or...
  9. Well I finally saw my GI yesterday to discuss the results of my biopsy. It was normal which was to be expected after 4 months mostly gluten-free and 2 months completely gluten-free. Even though I expected it I was still sad to hear the results....I was told my biopsy was "text book perfect". I guess I was hoping for a miracle w/out having to do a gluten...
  10. I think that a cheat here and there will probably not result in complete flattening of the villi or anything like that...it will cause small amounts of damage I would assume. By saying "damage" I'm thinking that aside from the damage it could be doing to the villi there is also the fact that your immune system is "fighting" gluten everytime you ingest it...
  11. Elonwy, My symptoms came on the same month I quit somking too. I'm pretty sure there is a link...read something about it before. Where is the thread??
  12. There is no definate answer. I think it could take weeks but probably not likely. It could take months or even years for damage to be severe enough to show up in the biopsy assuming you have celiac disease with no damage at this time. Its not something that happens overnight.
  13. I've eliminated dairy for now because I'm pretty sure I have leaky gut and I've been trying to heal it for awhile now. I've only been totally gluten-free 2.5 months and my Enterolab was negative for casein, yeast and eggs...only positive for gluten. I'm eliminating dairy for now anyways because I do feel worse after eating it and because I dont think dairy...
  14. I would look into the mold possibility for sure. That could really be bringing your immune system down and could have triggered the gluten intolerance and it could also contribute to candida overgrowth.
  15. I get cold after I've been glutened. I'm not sure if its the gluten reaction itself or if its because gluten accidents affect absorption of my thyroid medication. Feeling cold is a sign of low thyroid.
  16. Gluten accidents definately affect absorption of thyroid meds. The whole time I was undiagnosed I had very Hypo symptoms no matter how much I increased meds. I had bad malabsorption (lost 25 lbs.). As soon as I went gluten-free I had to lower my dose... for the first time ever it felt like the meds were working. After about a month I actually went Hyper and...
  17. Thanks, The cereal is actually suppossed to be gluten free according to the website. I didnt know they used the same equipment for their gluten products so I wasnt aware there could be contamination. I've been on this board awhile now so this might seem a stupid question but can contamination like this really cause a reaction in me? Also is it...
  18. Thanks, I feel ok now except for the aches and pains...a little tired too. I actually am very careful (I think). I try to be anyways...when I start to feel very good I tend to take more chances like with the cereal. I checked out the Barbaras Bakery website and there was a special diets section, a drop down list w/ gluten free foods and the first one...
  19. Thanks...my mom says "See, she is more careful....you should be more like her."
  20. Yes, it can be just as bad w/out being Celiac. Have you read Dangerous Grains? It explains alot.
  21. Yes, Ravenwood is right. If I went off my bloodtests alone I'd still be sick too. I had my bloodtests October last year and they were negative so I kept eating gluten until I could no longer get out of bed at all. I had the same problem as you with my food coming out undigested and I lost 25 lbs.
  22. Wow...so I'm not crazy afterall!! I've had this unopened box for a long time and I was scared to try it...it was like I had this "instinct" not to eat it. I knew I felt bad when I ate it before but back then I was really sick all the time... so it was hard to tell anything for sure. After eating it on Sunday I felt fine all day so by the time I got...
  23. 34 and like Ian...on the verge of losing everything. Back on track now.
  24. I used to eat Barbara's Bakery Brown Rice Crisps last year before I even knew I had a problem w/ gluten. I always felt bad after eating cereal. Now that I'm gluten free I thought maybe the cereal is ok but maybe the milk or Rice Dream I used back then were the only reason for feeling bad. Sunday morning I had the cereal again and Sunday night I was having...
  25. I don't know about your husband but I prefer to be left alone when I'm feeling this way. I doesnt really matter how nice or understanding someone is trying to be because at that moment I'm just angry and frusterated and want to be left alone. The more someone tries to talk to me the more irritable I get and I feel like noone could possibly understand how...
