ARCHIVED Can Someone Help Me With My Test Results?
Rachel--24 replied to melisadki's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
From what I can tell your results are negative for Celiac. The only way to know for sure (since you were positive with Enterolab) would be to go on the diet 100% for at least a few weeks to see if there is a difference in symptoms. If you plan on having the biopsy wait till after its done to go on the diet. -

From what I understand gluten cant be absorbed into the skin but lots of people do experience reactions from certain products. I know I felt much better after changing all my products to gluten-free but I was definately getting lotion, shampoo, etc...into my mouth. -

ARCHIVED Nutritional/snack Bars
Rachel--24 replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love the Lara Bars! I have only found them at Whole Foods so I can only buy them when I'm at my Mom's house. There is no Whole Foods where I live. I cant eat all of them because I'm sensitive to cinnamon. My favorite is Cherry Pie. I bought Apple Pie (not realizing it had cinnamon) and was planning on exchanging them. I left them at my Mom's and... -
I didnt read the article...just skimmed through this thread. I already dont eat gluten...obviously. I dont eat casien for now and I hardly eat soy since I have thyroid disease which makes soy bad for me anyways. I just recently started noticing when I eat corn tortillas I dont feel too great...I think its hard for me to digest right now? I'm hardly...

ARCHIVED Confused W ?'s About Diet
Rachel--24 replied to brice1401's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Even if trace amounts didn't cause significant damage seen in the biopsy....wouldn't the trace amounts still be triggering an immune response? Wouldnt that immune response be a strain on your immune system and as a result your body may not be as healthy as it could be? -
ARCHIVED Small Intestine Biopsy Scheduled
Rachel--24 replied to Baston8005's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree, I think you should go gluten-free right after the biopsy. Why wait for the test results at that point? By the time you get the results back you may already have noticed improvement on the diet. If the results came back negative and you wanted to "test" youreself...you could then do so. Reintroducing gluten after a couple weeks gluten-free should... -
Hmm...I havent switched my pets food. For one thing my cat only likes one kind of food...the expensive kind. My birds food has gluten and so does my dogs food...if I wash my hands everytime how can I possibly be glutened?

ARCHIVED Trying To Understand, So Forgive Me!
Rachel--24 replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think everyone here has Celiac Disease....I dont even think I have it. I wanted test results to prove something to me so I had all the tests done (for lots of different conditions/diseases) The only positive test I've ever gotten was from Enterolab indicating an immune response to gluten. I wasnt able to work for 2 years before getting these answers... -
I got some dining cards and they are so cool. Cant remember what site I got them from but they came in a set of 6. They are in different languages depending on what type of restaraunt you're at. Dont know when I'll ever use them...I'm not going to attempt it until I'm feeling 100% or close to it. The last time I ate out was in April and I ended up in...

ARCHIVED Help From You With Other Food Intolerances !

What about stuff that has corn syrup in it...is that the same as eating corn? Also Jenvan, this thread is old so I'm wondering did you eliminate those foods afterall? Did you notice improvement? -
ARCHIVED Anybody Ever Had Or Heard Of This?
Rachel--24 replied to mopsie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
About the sores. I've gotten these on my face off and on the past 3 years but I don't know what they are. I cant pin point if they came when I was glutened because if I *do* get glutened I usually cant figure out how it happened...just know I feel sick. I hadnt had the sores in awhile but 2 months ago they came back and are still there. I have one on each... -
ARCHIVED Help! I Am Not Getting My Topic Replies
Rachel--24 replied to melisadki's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I think she was referring to email notifications of replies...not actual replies to her post. I've seen her posts and I've responded to them so I know she does get "hits". For whatever reason shes not getting notifications though. Maybe someone who knows all the "tech" stuff can help you. -

ARCHIVED I Need Help
Rachel--24 replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What I did was first I read through the older posts and found out which products people use as far as soap, shampoo, stuff like that. For my make-up I called the companies and asked about each product I used. They were all helpful and emailed me the ingredients for the products I use and then another ingredient list which lists all gluten-containing ingredients... -
ARCHIVED Newbie! - How Long Until I Feel Better?
Rachel--24 replied to Puckster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It really depends on how careful you are (as the last post already mentioned) and how much damage was done. Everyone's healing time is different. You may find you also have other food sensitivities, which is common. Eating out is risky...there is always a chance of getting sick when you eat out...no matter how careful you try to be. -
I noticed a big difference when I switched my products. It wasnt really a big deal for me...I only had to change a few things and it was worth it for me. I was getting bad reactions and it was coming from wheat germ oil in my lotion and wheat in my shampoo. They were getting in my mouth though.

ARCHIVED Just Got Back From My Endoscopy
Rachel--24 replied to bellybattle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wasn't alert at all. The nurse pushed me out to the car (was in a wheelchair). Apparently I was chatting with her the whole time but I have no recollection of what was said...I also barely remembered how I even got to the car. -
ARCHIVED Glutino Pizza Sticks
Rachel--24 replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't hate anything I've tried because I'm just happy to be able to eat some things w/out getting sick. I know I would've hated most of the stuff if I'd tried it back when I was healthy. I even eat Amaranth cereal...which is not tasty but I still get happy to eat it. -

ARCHIVED Non Celiac - But Are These Symptoms?
Rachel--24 replied to Mo92109's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, those can all be symptoms of Celiac/Gluten Intolerance. The brainfog/memory problems were one of my worst symptoms. If you are still having these symptoms after 6 months you are probably not completely gluten-free....assuming you are Celiac or gluten intolerant. Those symptoms could be caused by other things as well so you would need to be very diligent... -
ARCHIVED Non Celiac - But Are These Symptoms?
Rachel--24 replied to Mo92109's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah...there are specific tests for Celiac. I'm thinking you didn't have those tests if they told you that you're wheat intolerant. Gluten intolerance is more than just avoiding wheat. I think they are giving you wrong information. -
ARCHIVED All Or Nothing?
Rachel--24 replied to JenM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm sure you are not misinterpreting anything he has ever told you. Different doctors have different opinions though. For example my doctor feels like there are other genes linked to Celiac and not having DQ2 or DQ8 doesnt 100% rule out Celiac. I have a feeling your doctor would not agree. Who's to say who is right? Also Dr. Fine from Enterolab obviously... -

This is why I just use stuff that I know for sure is safe. I use Dove soap but then again...I've always used Dove soap anyways.
