  1. Well...I definately had all those. I took strong pain meds everyday till I changed my diet...havent taken any meds in 6 months...although I've had a handful of days where I was tempted. The mood stuff...well...those were the worst. I was a bit out of control for awhile. I think thats why I get so much support w/ the diet...nobody wants to see me glutened...
  2. A wheat allergy wouldnt be the same as a gluten intolerance or celiac disease but you could have celiac and wheat allergy seperately. A scratch test or any allergy test cant diagnose celiac because they are two different kind of immune responses. Celiac is autoimmune and allergy is not. You should still test if you suspect a gluten intolerance. Just make...
  3. Matilda, Thanks for responding. The candida diet I was on prior to going gluten-free was very strict. I was only eating meats and veggies. I was only getting gluten from supplements and lotion and stuff like that. After Enterolab I started "official" gluten-free diet but at the same time I added lots of food I hadnt been eating for 4 months...like...
  4. Thanks for the info. From that description I would say I don't have Ataxia. My muscles and body movements have been fine. The neurologist checked me out more than once and my movements and coordination were good. I had an extreme amount of pain in my head though.
  5. Thanks..my hair thanks you too. For whatever reason going gluten-free caused me to start losing hair. It had finally grown in nice and thick during the summer and now its going through some kind of crisis again. Luckily I LOVE baseball hats! I don't even bother with my hair lately...I'll just wait for it to grow in again.
  6. Hmmm.... my skin seems worse lately but I might be having too many accidents. Not really sure but my skin is really dry too.
  7. Hmmm...I have DQ1 and those are alot like my symptoms. I don't really have bowel symptoms but I did have malabsorption. I had those shooting pains in my head when I first got sick. The neurologist couldnt find anything wrong and I had a normal MRI. I also get numbness, burning and tingling. Brain-fog and depression were my worst symptoms. I did bump...
  8. Sorry to give you a scare. I still have all my Aubrey products...except the shampoo. I'm thinking the shampoo must have been OK so I probably continued to use it...otherwise it would've been with the other "bad" stuff cuz I bought them all together. I was really bummed about the conditioner cuz I liked it alot. The lotion is scary stuff...its what...
  9. I've posted about this before but never really got any responses. I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now. I was getting rashes on my arms but since going gluten-free they havent come back. They were itchy like poison oak. Now I have sores on my scalp and face. I *used* to get these exact sores in the exact same spots but havent really had any...

    ARCHIVED Walking Back

I'm confused. What tests did you have done originally that gave you the celiac dx? Also did the diet help you? Did you feel better? If you did find relief from your symptoms how do you know that this new doctor is not wrong? If the doctor is going by the results of the biopsy alone that doesnt completely rule celiac out. A negative biopsy doesnt...
  11. I wouldn't worry too much if it doesn't say wheat germ oil on the label. The stuff I had said it clearly in the ingredients. Yours must be ok.
  12. Wow! Don't the Aubrey Organics have wheat germ oil in them? Those are the products that clued me into getting retested for gluten intolerance. I bought the hairspray, shampoo, conditioner and lotion and that week I got extremely sick and lost weight. I dont remember about the shampoo but the conditioner (which I loved) and the lotion had wheat...
  13. I'm no expert on the subject but I *think* the 0503 is a seperate gluten sensitivity gene. I have 0301 and 0501...2 gluten sensitivity genes but no celiac gene. I think we get one from each parent.
  14. Yeah for Albertsons! My neighborhood grocery store is Raleys and they have Food for Life, Amys, Mi-Del, Pamela's, Ener-G, Glutino and lots more...I feel very fortunate. I actually work for Safeway and they have NOTHING for me at my store. They are way behind the rest when it comes to gluten-free foods.
  15. Yes, I learned the hard way. I'm going to switch plans when it comes up in November. I need to find a good doctor though. If anyone knows of a good doc in Bay Area CA....let me know.
  16. I'm having the same problems. No corn tortillas, dairy or gluten-free bread. I'm pretty sure I have leaky gut and I'm sensitive to chemicals as well. All of this gets much worse after a glutening or if I eat too many foods that bother me. If I eat very plain and organic symptoms improve and I can tolerate more. My food sensitivity testing (Great Smokies...
  17. What was her shampoo tip?
  18. I don't know if I was deficient or not because my HMO doesnt test for these types of things....they are the worst and also employ the worst doctors around. I was seeing an ND for awhile....she asked me if I felt better when I'm in the sun. I was amazed she was asking me this and I told her I did...I told her I always felt tons better immediately after going...
  19. I was not awake during the procedure. I was probably at the hospital a couple hours. I know I was "asleep" for about 45 minutes. I could not eat anything after midnight and I only drank water the morning of my biopsy but I couldnt drink anything for a few hours before my appt. They hooked all the stuff up to me for the vitals and started an IV...
  20. When I first changed my diet I was WAY worse. I'm thinking it could have been withdrawl. My second week of the diet was a huge improvement. Gluten is highly addictive and some people do experience withdrawl symptoms.
  21. Well...I don't know how you can get some added weight in that area but I *can* tell you that those bra's with the extra padding have helped me out lots. I call them my "false advertisement" bra's. I've never been big and never wanted to be. I was pretty content with my small size. When I first got symptoms 3 years ago I was gaining weight, fluid...
  22. A gluten challenge is when you've been off gluten for some period of time and then reintroduce it and eat it for the purpose of testing or for self-diagnosis.
  23. I have to agree with Carrie on this one. You clearly have celiac disease...a positive biopsy and positive bloodwork = celiac disease. I'm also confused as to why your doctor would want to have you go gluten-free, then do a challenge, and then redo the tests. To me the tests were not inconclusive the first time.
  24. I started having symptoms suddenly after quitting smoking and having lots of stress. My thyroid was overactive and my meds werent working to relieve symptoms. Doctors told me I needed Radioactive iodine to treat the thyroid...I had always been against this but with worsening symptoms and pain I couldnt wait to have it done. My hair was falling out like crazy...
  25. Thanks so much Karen I think I have the ups and downs with doubting myself mainly because its still fresh for me. Just knowing myself I think by next year I'll be "over it" and I wont care about a diagnosis. Today I said I would test myself with gluten next year but I know that when faced with that option I dont see myself actually being able to go...
