  1. Having full blown celiac does not necessarily = lots of pain or symptoms. Some people with positive biopsies for celiac feel perfectly healthy and have no symptoms eating gluten while others with negative tests may be disabled by gluten. Reactions really do vary.
  2. Thats something my old boss would have done! I got a new boss 2 weeks ago. He hasnt been broken in yet so he's still got manners.
  3. I know...I was kinda laughing at myself. Its funny how just seeing those words gluten-free can bring so much excitement into my life!
  4. Yay!!! Another scrapbooker. I scrapbook too...I just recently built my dream scrapbook room but of course now that its done I havent really had enuff time to scrapbook. Well...maybe if I got off the computer once in awhile.
  5. I'm sooo excited!!! In the last couple months I've found a pretty good variety of gluten-free foods at various makets but yesterday I hit the jackpot! A girl from work told me she saw a store that had a big sign in the window stating they had the largest selection of gluten-free foods in the Bay Area. This girl doesnt really know what gluten is....just that...
  6. Yay Matilda! I'm glad you're feeling bouncy this week. I hope you're time has come and every week will be better then the last.
  7. I had those symptoms. My neck was extremely stiff and would crack when I moved it. I stayed in bed all day and I didn't have fibromyalgia. It was from gluten...and I didnt test positive for celiac disease in the bloodtests. I think if you keep waiting for some test to come back positive or for some doctor to tell you you need to be on a gluten-free diet....
  8. I wasn't going to get involved in this but I do agree with what Deb has said. I read everything that was posted and I did not see anything that Kaiti wrote as being rude nor did I feel that Gina was being personally attacked. In my opinion it was the other way around. Now...I don't know Kaiti personally and have no reason to "defend" her...I'm just stating...

If you DON'T want any quotes in your reply just go further down to where you see a button that says "add reply"....there will be no quotes in your reply. Hope...
  10. Yeah...what is that all about? I get that too...or it feels like bugs are crawling on me.
  11. I had terrible PMS...but I dont even know if it was PMS since it was there all month long. Anyways my "PMS" symptoms would get much worse before my period but they never really went away. My periods were also very light...lasting only a day or two. The doctors all said this was just "normal" stuff. I didn't believe it...I had never experienced ANY of it...

    ARCHIVED Wary...

Does your brother have obvious weight loss? My malabsorption was high at 912. I havent seen anyone post anything even close to that until now. I dont have a celiac gene. I'm DQ1 and DQ3. I didnt have a biopsy until 6 months gluten-free...so naturally it didnt answer any questions. I think in my case laeky gut is a big factor.
  13. Before I went gluten-free...when I was at my worst and losing lots of weight all my food was coming out undigested. If I ate rice...it was just as if I had dumped all the rice into the toilet w/out ever eating it. All my food was pretty much visible. I also had some mucous as well. Are you losing weight also? I think this would indicate malabsorption...I...
  14. I was dx'd with severe TMJ over a year ago. I could hardly open my mouth. I was sent to a TMJ class, saw a TMJ specialist and a splint was made for me to wear at night. I knew something was causing the TMJ...it just came out of nowhere after already having numerous symptoms for 2 years. I wore the splint every night for a year and it helped. Ever since the...
  15. I think if I understood correctly if I'm requesting the records for *myself* then I have to pay but if I want them sent to a new doctor I don't. I *think* thats what I was told. I'm going to switch plans this month and finally get out of my HMO...I'll wait till I switch and then try to get the records.
  16. Since you were already gluten-free before the bloodtests that would have affected the results of the test. Even though you went back on gluten for a short time it was likely not enough to show a positive. A positive response to the diet can be just as conclusive as the tests but I think the doctor should have let you know that tests would be innacurrate following...
  17. I know exactly what your talking about...I get that too but its not so bad that it keeps me up at night or anything. It sometimes happens after I eat and it happens alot after I've been glutened. There is no rash involved. Its just a weird feeling.
  18. How can "Failure to Thrive" be a diagnosis in itself? My doctor wrote "Failure to Thrive" on my charts before I figured everything out on my own and went on the diet. He never tried to figure out *why* I wasn't thriving though. Also isnt "failure to thrive" usually in regards to kids who arent growing properly? I'm over 30 yrs. old...I was thriving...
  19. I think if you feel better off gluten and the symptoms go away when your're not eating it then you already have your answer. I wouldn't stress too much about the tests....stress will only make you feel worse. I think the people who test negative w/ Enterolab dont generally hang out on this message board. There is one person that I know of on this board who...
  20. It took awhile for my family and friends to realize how sick I was. For the first 2 years people werent taking me too serious because I "looked" fine on the outside. The doctors figured I was making it up too since the tests always came back normal. I started losing alot of weight the third year...it came off pretty fast so once I started "looking" sick...
  21. I agree, I think the stool tests will someday be used by doctors. The stool tests seem to be proving more useful to people than the bloodtests. At least thats the conclusion I've come to from my own experience and from reading the experiences of others on this board.
  22. No...they gave me a different position in the store...which I actually like better so it worked out. I'm not near any loose flour. I rarely go around the bakery. I have no clue what could have got me. I usually end up in the checkstand for a short period each day (I try to avoid it). The only time I get near flour is when I'm scanning peoples groceries and...
  23. Is it normal to have to pay for your records? I've requested mine but I was told I have to pay 25 cents for each page. I cant imagine how many pages must be in my file. I dont even think I had a file until 3 yrs. ago and now its *really* thick. They couldn't even give me an idea of how many pages there are so I'm not sure I wanna end up paying hundreds of...
  24. I used corn tortillas with hot dogs. I just made it the same as I would a normal hot dog but the tortilla was my "bun"....and it was good. I've used them for burritos too.
  25. Kaiti...how long does your nausea last? I've been having it all week and also lost some weight, brainfog...all the gluten symptoms but I dont know where it came from. Anyways, its been a week now...does yours last that long?
