  1. I'm eating Cocoa Pebbles all the time...haven't had any problems.
  2. Does anyone know if Coleman all natural beef hot dogs are gluten-free? I tried to call but only got an answering machine and I really want to eat these hot dogs.
  3. Is Iga definciency anything to be concerned about when getting bloodtests? Does anyone here have an IgA deficiency? When I was tested last year I wasn't given the full panel so I only had Anti-Gliadin IgA and tTG done. They were negative but I was off gluten 2 weeks. My Enterolab tests were all positive although my numbers weren't that high in comparison...
  4. You just erase whataver you don't want in the qoute...you can narrow it down to whatever you want. Just dont mess with the mumbo jumbo computer jargon stuff on the top and bottom of the quote....because thats what keeps the quote intact.
  5. Claire, How gluten-free have you been over the last 15 years? If you haven't been eating gluten for such a long time I don't think even the stool test will be accurate. Enterolab says 1 year off gluten can still provide positive results..I don't think there is any guarantee though. 1 year is a long time and 15 years is a REALLY long time. Have you read...
  6. Claire, whenever you post it will automatically go to the end of the topic...regardless of who you are responding to. If you want to respond to an earlier post its a good idea to use quotes so that your post will be understood. Its not that the post is "floating" off seperately...its just that the posts are in order by when they were sent. The last post will...
  7. Yeah...I know how you feel. I had a rough 3 years not knowing what was going on with my health. I've been on disability 2 years and just finally got my positive results last month. I had everything from MRI to Barium to CT scans and tons of bloodwork...nothing ever came back positive till I went to Enterolab. Gluten...who knew?? Well I'm getting better...
  8. I think you can have DH before actual villi damage takes place so therefore I guess you wouldn't be considered "celiac" but would still have to be gluten-free to relieve DH and/or future damage. I think DH is a symptom of celiac even if its not "full blown" yet.
  9. I've had IgG Food Antibody and Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis tests done at Great Smokies. I think they are mainly known for these types of tests..and they have a great reputation. However, I don't think too many people here have used them for Celiac testing. I think they've just recently started testing for celiac disease and I have no idea about...
  10. All I know is you can have DH and have no villi damage but you'd still have to maintain a gluten-free diet. I'm pretty sure a skin cream could cause a skin reaction but no villi damage...unless the cream got into your mouth. I don't know the rest.
  11. My GI doctor told me that the majority of celiacs carry the genes...but there are some who don't. He said there are other genes invovled as well...but not enough is known about the genes right now. I figured what he was telling me is that he wouldn't rule celiac out based on genetics alone.
  12. There was a guy on another forum who's doctor had him tested through GSDL. All I know is that he said he had a positive tTG. I believe it was a bloodtest...I didn't even know they were testing for Celiac now. I will try to contact that guy for more info.

Stephanie, Have you called to make sure they sent the referral over? I don't know how it works for you but some of the "lamer" doctors I've had would forget to do stuff like this and I'd be sitting at home waiting....only to find out later no referral was sent. Hmm..."lamer"....is that even a word? Oh well it was nicest word I could think of...
  16. Sorry missed this one... Its easy for me to stay committed to the diet since my whole life fell apart while I was still eating gluten. Even though pre-diagnosis I lived off fast food and everything gluten my symptoms are bad enough that I have NO desire to eat any of that stuff again.
  17. #1 Does your bf understand the consequences of not staying on the diet? Does he really think you *only* get diarreah from gluten? I think you need to take it more serious yourself in order for him to be able to take *you* and your diet seriously. If he doesnt have a full understanding and the impression that you're giving him is that its not that big a...

Yeah...I was *amazed* myself. After a long string of REALLY bad doctors over the past 3 years I'd pretty much given up hope that anyone at my HMO would ever be of any help. I usually drive home from my doctor visits either very angry or in tears. I prayed for a decent doctor today and I actually got one!!! It was sooo refreshing.

I'm assuming you never had a biopsy then? Have your other symptoms improved since going gluten-free? Its good that he's checking other things just to be sure but yeah....it seems like some people took more than a year to totally heal so maybe you had alot of damage to begin with. I had a barium test awhile back...way before diagnosis....everything was normal...
  20. I think if there is some contamination...its very small. Maybe after I'm healed I wouldn't notice it?? When I tried buckwheat I wasn't "officially" on the gluten-free diet but had eliminated all grains....my system was extremely sensitive at that time but I didn't know I had gluten intlerance yet. Maybe a tiny bit just set me off or maybe I was just reacting...

  22. From what I understand they have a dedicated line for the gluten-free products and they are in a seperate room from the other flours. I remember someone posting that they knew someone who had toured the facility and said that flour was flying around everywhere and contamination seemed likely. I never reacted to the flaxmeal I used but the buckwheat flour...

    ARCHIVED Saw Gi Doc Today...

Well I finally saw the GI today. He was very nice and spent about an hour with me. We are going thru with the biopsy (Oct. 3rd) to try to get a more definitive answer for me. He explained that its likely any damage would be healed at this point but that anything is possible. Also that if its positive it would be "official" for me but if its negative it...
  24. Is Nature-thyroid the same as Armour thyroid? I've never refridgerated my Armour...I never heard you were supposed to and it doesn't say anything like that on the bottle or on their website. Hmmm..now I will have to call my Endo and find out.
  25. Yeah...I know it doesnt contain gluten. Its just processed in a facility where gluten containing flours are processed as well...so buckwheat CAN be contaminated with gluten even though it doesn't naturally contain gluten.
