  1. Huh??? I eat Pamela's cookies and as far as I know they are gluten-free. I've never gotten sick. Maybe they were referring to the other Pamela's cookies....I've seen some newer ones that aren't gluten-free...I almost bought some mistakenly cuz I just assumed they were all gluten-free.
  2. I had most of the symptoms you listed plus many more...I went on the diet before getting tested. DONT DO THIS. If you plan on getting tested keep eating gluten. My results were neg. so I went back to my normal diet and ended up severely depressed and pretty much bed-ridden. I finally just recently got tested through Enterolab and came back positive. I only...
  3. I never even had diarreah and rarely have tummy aches either. There are so many symptoms and nobody seems to be exactly alike. I had bloating and constipation yet somehow I lost 25 lbs in 6 months. I ended up at 94 lbs. without ever having diarreah. The only time I got D was after going out to eat...that happened a few times but it was nothing that I would...
  4. I've been getting bumps on my face since I went gluten-free and accidently get glutened. I'm not sure what they are but I got them 3 years ago when I first got sick and then nothing for a couple years until now that I've gone gluten-free. I was also dx'd with Rosacea back then but I don't really have it. I don't think they are pimples cuz they arent like...
  5. I think what the Enterolab casein test is looking for is an immune response to dairy which is totally seperate from lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance sort of comes with the territory when there is damage to the intestine. It will get better when you heal. Of course I have no idea if thats the case for you but definately worth a try. I know lactose...
  6. Stephanie, I've learned the docs think the answer for everything is anti-depressants. I got the same treatment as you. Just take this Prozac and in 2 months you'll be brand new. I tried it for 2 months but nothing changed at all. Oh..well you didn't take it long enough...why dont we try again. No thanks. You need a stronger...
  7. Hi, You might need more than just 5 days to see results and are you 100% gluten-free like with skin products, lipstick, toothpaste...stuff like that? You could also be sensitive to another food...especially dairy. I had Enterolab tests as well...my malabsorption score was 912 so even though my anti-casein was in the normal range (9) I still have...
  8. Yeah...that would bother me too!!!
  9. It sure looked nice in red though. Thanks for the link!
  10. I have to say...some days I envy those of you who get no symptoms. I guess it would be hard to know whats going on though. I looked up sulphites and it was saying typical symptoms are asthma or wheezing type symptoms. I don't know if thats accurate but I don't get those type of symptoms. I'm sure the info. could be false and everyone reacts differently...
  11. Bummer...I was getting excited about the Godiva Cheescake. Cheesecake is my favorite desert....hopefully one of these days I'll have some again.
  12. I'm pretty sure I don't eat anything with msg. I'm curious about the sulphites though...I have no idea what foods contain sulphites. I'll have to look that one up. I do have a friend who's sick (no cause has been found) and she told me just the other day that she can't drink bottled water for some reason. I think lots of foods bother her but she...
  13. Your doctor sounds just as bad as mine. You don't have to be rail thin w/ a bloated stomach to have celiac disease...you can be overweight or of normal weight and still have it. I DID fit that "classic" description however and no doctor I ever saw (and I saw lots) ever once mentioned celiac disease to me. They were just clueless. I didn't know I had a problem...
  14. That does help...thanks Nettiebeads I don't why the doctors would rather bring me down than try to help me. I'ts been 3 years and I'm just fed up now...I filed a complaint after my last appt. Probably should have done that along time ago. I do have a wonderful doctor outside my HMO who really is helpful and she's even given her time over the phone...
  15. Thanks for the advice Lisa I know the docs I have wouldn't give me B-12 shots. They havent done one thing for me in 3 years and also my B-12 tests are normal so if I asked them for that it would just give them another reason to ridicule me. As far as going out with my friends...I wish. Unfortunately I live about an hour and a half away from...
  16. Thanks Ian, Sometimes I just need to be reminded. After the stress of my doctors appt. yesterday I just felt like I had been run over by a truck. I hadn't taken a pain pill in 5 months but really needed to last night. The only thing that stopped me was not knowing whether the meds were gluten-free or not. So I just dealt with my pain and massive...
  17. Ravenwoodglass, Thank you for sharing your story...it really made me feel better about things seeing how much you've improved on the diet. Its too bad they took so long to find out what was making you sick...it was only 3 years for me but feels like much longer.
  18. I feel like so much is getting better on the diet but at the same time I'm still sensitive to alot of things around me. Chemicals or foods sometimes bother me but some days are better than others. I feel like my immune system is not up to par. If I get stressed or angry (like I did yesterday after my crappy doctor appt) my body just doesnt handle it well...
  19. Oh yeah...I don't really feel like I'm getting any "delayed" reactions or any gluten type reactions. Sometimes I just feel weird after eating and other times I'm fine. When I was still on gluten I was getting reactions from everything I ate ...no matter what it was. Thats why I did the Great Smokies test. If I get glutened badly the same thing will happen...
  20. Claire, I did have type II food sensitivity testing done at Great Smokies and it came back totally fine. They said I only had a very low reaction to mustard and alfalfa out of over 100 foods. Not a problem avoiding those even though they said the reaction was so low it was not necessary to avoid them...just rotate them. Sometimes I wonder about the test...
  21. I only started taking some vitamins a couple days ago...I'm hoping it will help with the energy. Does it take awhile for vitamins to start working? Someone said while the body is healing it uses more energy...could it be a good sign that I'm feeling kind of beat up right now?
  22. I don't have the answer cuz I'm wondering the same thing. I'm definately not sick like I was and I don't have depession anymore but I think I feel more tired and a little run down even though I'm not doing much of anything. I had more energy before and also I have bloating constantly now. I'm not complaining since I'm not really in pain anymore but like...
  23. So you were tested more than once and kept coming back negative? How did you end up positive after all that time? Also your sig. says you were sick 15 yrs....how are you doing now after being gluten-free for a couple years?
  24. Thanks for your replies. I think I'm gonna have them test me for that just so its not always in the back of my head and because I never got the full panel or the IgG test...only IgA. Also Enterolab says my malabsorption is most likely due to gluten since I had elevated antibodies but other people have much higher antibodies and no malabsorption. I figure...
  25. Cool...thanks Stephanie!!! I was eating Oscar Mayer but I'm thinking if I wanna eat a hot dog it should at least be a healthy one.
