Donna....sounds like a plan. I'm crossing my fingers that you'll be able to see Amy next time. I've heard this too. Jin....I'm so glad that you finally got a Dr. who's spending some time with you and that you're feeling good about. YAY! Its been a long time coming for you. -

Most people using salt do have some symptoms as it can cause "die-off". Some people have ended up with kidney problems or other issues while taking large amounts of salt....so there are some risks involved and its wise to go slow. Also, never take table salt this way....it can be toxic. -

Have you ever been tested for Lyme Disease or other chronic infections? Salt is actually used by many to treat intracellular infections such as Lyme. Salt/vitamin C is a well known protocol used in treating Lyme as well as other infections (parasites, viruses, etc.) Many people feel relief from their symptoms while taking salt. Its used as a treatment... -

Yes...you would have to be eating gluten in order for the tests to be accurate. If you take gluten out of your diet antibody levels go down. 10 weeks gluten-free can definately result in a false negative. -

ARCHIVED Please Help With Blood Test Results
Rachel--24 replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would pursue more testing. You were only tested for one antibody (tTG). Also, some people will have a positive biopsy despite negative bloodwork. I would request the Celiac panel. The IgA Serum is to make sure that you're not IgA deficient. As previously mentioned you could try the diet to find out if gluten is your problem....just be sure that you... -

Totally!! But yeah...after talking to Dr. Amy the other day I was kind of prepared for this and we had already talked about how we'd proceed if the porphyrin test was normal. She wasnt looking at it like it we'd be hitting a roadblock...but more like we'd be getting something out of the way and kind of narrowing things down. So I feel good about... -
It could be this ingredient... "Sodium Metabisulfite". Are you sensitive to sulfites?? If you are it would definately explain the head pounding. If you notice that you experience the same symptoms when eating foods containing... Sulfur dioxide Potassium bisulfite Potassium metabisulfite Sodium bisulfite Sodium metabisulfite Sodium sulfite...

I didnt get my blooddraw today and I didnt get my "OAT" test kit ...but I did get the CDSA test kit and I did get the porphyrin results. So I guess I accomplished 50% of what I wanted to get done today. The nurse forgot today was Friday...and there are no blooddraws on Friday. I had thought that somehow I got "lucky" and that this *one* time they... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing

Well this is the same thing that I've been posting all along....so it seems that we are on the same page here. I dont see how your statement differs from anything that I've said in my previous posts. When the gut is leaky, gluten becomes a huge antagonist. Its also one which would be constantly passing through the gut....due to the high prevelence of... -
Yeah...Epstein Barr causes mono over 90% of the time. Some other organisms can cause mono occassionaly....but usually its EBV.

ARCHIVED Blood Test And No Endoscopy?

No, the positive antibodies indicate an autoimmune condition....not a sensitivity. -
ARCHIVED Blood Test And No Endoscopy?
Rachel--24 replied to hilwacat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
With both of those tests being positive there is really no reason to go through with a biopsy. The positive EMA and tTG is enough for an official diagnosis. The biopsy can be false negative because damage can be "patchy".....if samples are taken from an unaffected area you can have a false negative. A negative biopsy does not rule out Celiac Disease. ... -
I used to have this problem quite frequuently but not so much after I did a major overhaul on my diet 3 years ago. The stabbing pain is pretty much a thing of the past and the "sunburn" feeling is a "once in awhile" thing now. I'm not sure exactly what causes it...but I *think* one of the triggers for me is MSG...or "free glutamates". No doubt there are...

Could also be that something in your home "environment" is contributing to the insomnia. If you slep fine elsewhere....and are never able to do that at home...it could be something you are exposed to. Just a thought. About neurotransmitters. Hmmm....I guess my test kit for that is sitting in my closet at home...for almost 2 years now. Yeah...I... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Gluten doesnt just "travel" around the body and get into the brain....or the joints...or the thyroid....or anywhere else...UNLESS the gut is leaky. Increased permeability...the "gateway" for autoimmunity. If gluten is CAUSING the leaky gut....then the "cure" is pretty darn simple. Just remove gluten and the gut is no longer leaky...right?? Unfortunately... -

Well, I suppose we can make up our rules as we go along...we can say 1 out of 3 has Celiac even without positive test results, we can say that gluten is the main reason for most people's ailments and we can NOW say that Celiac is not an autoimmune disease...despite all of the evidence that it is autoimmune....and despite what every Celiac expert in the nation... -

I agree with everything you posted. I've said it many times and I'll say it again, I think one of the biggest mistakes some of us can make is to focus ALL of our attention on *one* condition....and to blame every symptom on that one condition. Our bodies are all very unique and MANY different things can go wrong. Often I will see someone post something... -

I'm taking AFP Peptizyde and No Fenol but those are kind of specific to my own problems with phenols and such. You might be able to tolerate a more broad spectrum formula. Heres a list of some different enzymes for people on the gluten-free diet. -

What is the tooth issue? Do you have root canals? No, I dont think the toxins produced by that are considered to be biotoxins. Mercaptans and thioethers are a different type of poison I think and its not just coming from bacteria but also dead decaying tissue which remains in the body (because the tooth is dead). Something seems to holding you... -

I understand that very well because at one point I was one of those people without the ability or the mental clarity to help myself....and I'm thankful for what I was able to learn from people on sites such as this one. Now I would like to pay-it-forward. Some people will appreciate the info....and others will not. Its here for those who are interested... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Testing
Rachel--24 replied to AliB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Celiac Disease is considered to be an autoimmune disease....I didnt just pull that out of a hat. The definition of Autoimmunity: Autoimmunity is the failure of an organism to recognize its own constituent parts (down to the sub-molecular levels) as self, which results in an immune response against its own cells and tissues. Any disease that results from...
