  1. Shingles usually are stress related, and I'm betting you got shingles simply because you were so worried about having the fillings removed. I have read removing the fillings can be much worse than just leaving them alone. My daughter had shingles when she was 15 (shingles may flare at any time from stress too)because of too much stress in her life, she...
  2. Yeah, probably an east coast chip for now. I live on Long Island, NY and we have them everywhere. I was in Mich in June and couldn't find them, so I bought a bag of original Kettle chips and got sick!
  3. Nature Made will always list if the product is gluten free, as does Natrol, Spring Valley (at Walmart), Jarrow, Country Life. Always check the label though, if it doesn't say gluten free, etc, then absolutely do not buy it. Always go through the ingredients list too, they will say gluten free, then have barley grasses, which some think are gluten free,...
  4. The symptoms have probably been there for a long time, and the gluten symptoms were stronger...now that you are gluten free, other issues are appearing. I had carpal tunnel diagnosed 2 years before I went gluten free...5 years later, I found out about neuropathy, and now I know, carpal tunnel is neuropathy. So you have probably had this for some time....
  5. I know the gluten does not go into the meat, or the milk, although I do not know why. I do know what is in the feed, and no, cows do not eat corn only. My dad created recipes for aninmal feed, especially cows and horses. Farmers came from miles away to get feed made by him. They can not eat grass alone, not as a rule. Also, when you hear they are free...
  6. Exactly. Many things are labeled "gluten free" and still contain gluten...I think it's wrong, but that's how it is. They should be labeled "gluten lite", so we all can make our own decision. For some of us, it takes a long time to realize why we keep getting glutened and that's sad. One day, I hope they change the ruling on labeling rules for gluten free...
  7. My Walmart ibuprofen is fine. If it's made by Perrigo Labs in Allegan, Michigan, it's gluten free. Yes, gluten intolerant's have to worry about CC just the same. Gluten intolerance is much bigger than celiac. Celiac is just a tiny part of the entire gluten intolerance spectrum....the RX for gluten intolerance and celiac is the same...totally gluten...
  8. I have tried, and gotten no where. A few years back, my antibodies were high, my PCP recommended I see an endo. So, I made the appt, this man looked at me and said, "High antibodies mean nothing, it's like saying, just because you have a uterus, you are pregnant...you're fine, come back in a year." I never went back, and never will. My TSH goes up...
  9. Actually, psychological problems are very common. Gluten attacks our brains too. Some people only have psychological problems, and not gastro.
  10. Here's another bit on info, only on the difference between sensitivy and celiac: Open Original Shared Link
  11. Are you sure you are not getting glutened? Sounds to me like you are being glutened by something, maybe a med, or a vitamin. If your blood count is elevated, instead of, then gluten is getting you. Some of us are super sensitive, and even the "gluten free" foods will hurt us. Anything labeled gluten free can contain from 5ppm-20ppm of gluten, and be considered...
  12. It is very discouraging to go to the doc feeling terrible, and have them say, "Your blood work came back normal, you're fine." Mine always tells me I look wonderful and will live another 50 years. I don't feel wonderful, I have a headache every day of my life, the last 2-3 weeks the headaches have been really bad, but, I look good! Your ferritin is...
  13. All I know is, this is what Dr. Green has told us as a speaker. I also know, when I get glutened, often times I am sick for at least 3 weeks and up to 4 months. I have taken my own food to a restuarant, and they were told before I went, that I was. My boss was throwing a going away party for one of our workers, and told them I could not eat their foods...
  14. You are very welcome, and I'm sorry, but I can't remember the other 2 labs. What would be best for you, is too ask pharmacies near you which brand they use, then call those companies until you find one that is gluten free.
  15. There is no definite answer for this one. Dr. Green told us they really don't know why some heal much quicker than others, or why some seem to not heal well. Some people continue to eat gluten at times...they say, each glutening can set you back 3 months. Some never go totally gluten free. Unless you eat whole foods, things that never do contain gluten...
  16. I take Xanax occasionally. I found three labs that make it gluten free, but only one was available in my area. The one I take is made my Mylan Labs, they will always tell you if their product is gluten free or not...I was told nearly all of their products are gluten free. The gluten free name for Xanax is Alprazolam. Do not get your Xanax from Pfizer...
  17. Open Original Shared Link The fact that he serves on the Board of Trustees for GIG says so much to me. I edited my original post, my mistake. Secondly, it doesn't matter to me if he is an MD or not. There are many DO's out there who are not MD's either, do you trust them? Do you see the PA's in your PCP's office? I like what Dr. Wangen has to...
  18. I wish I could just avoid gluten too, even just dairy and soy would be nice. I can't eat any grains, none, no nightshades, no cruciferous veggies, no dairy, no red meat, no shellfish...no "gluten free" labeled foods because most still contain up to 20ppm of gluten, and 5ppm is too much for me. I get glutened by the tiniest amount of gluten, simple CC makes...
  19. Needle sticks is a good description, I called them electric shocks. They are like little zaps, some are little and get your notice, others hurt so much...I get them in my calves. I haven't had this happen for some time..knocking on wood! I would have them every day for a week, then they would just stop, come back in a few weeks or so. Evie, since you...
  20. You accept, and take your lunch along with you. If you don't want to eat there, then sneak out during the lunch break and eat on a park bench or something.
  21. I agree Glutenmommy, your thoughts are very clear, and meaningful. Thank you. It is a great book, isn't it? By the way, I took the advice of Dr. Wangen, and started taking Thorn's Ferrasorb to raise my ferritin level. I took the bottle with me to my PCP Friday, and he said it was a very good choice, that he had read about it, and felt it was...
  22. Yes, it is possible to get a false negative, doesn't always happen though. It's the best test to do first, then go from there. People get false negatives from the biospy too. Depends on the doctor doing the testing, how much he actually knows about villi, if he knows what he is looking at, if he actually gets samples from the right spot, if he takes more...
  23. For starters, 1 week off gluten is not enough time for healing to take place, 1 week should not effect the blood test at all. One thing you will find after reading in these forums, is that everyone has similiar symptoms, and everyone will have some symptoms that others may not. A chronic sore throat could be from GERD, and sometimes people do have silent...
  24. Have you seen a doctor? Have you had your B12 level checked? I have neuropathy, and sometimes have "cold spots" like you mentioned. Mine are the size of a softball, usually on the back of my leg. It feels like a breeze is blowing on the spot. I wake up, and will have my hands, and arms sleeping, all the way to my shoulder. I sometimes have buzzing...
