  1. Your doctor is probably correct about diagnosis being possible after only a 2 week diet. In 2 weeks, the damage cannot be gone yet. He is wrong about candida...a person absolutely can have this problem without having AIDS, or chemo. There are many doctors out there who know nothing about gluten intolerance/celiac.
  2. I've been glutened before though, without this happening. I'm thinking it's probably the weights, they're causing the aggravation. I just came back from my walk, my left hand was complaining, my feet were buzzing...maybe it's this horrible humid weather we are having. It's been the weirdest summer. My CFS symptoms seen to be in a flare, the fatigue is...
  3. Exactly the opposite for me, my left side is worse. My left hand is much worse with the carpal tunnel, and my ataxia effected the left more. Just as Raven, mine is much better now, although when I exercise, anything on the left is more difficult. I still tend to tip easily. If someone is standing very close to me, like in a hug, if I look up, I tip, always...
  4. Oh yeah, for sure. If the people designing these had to wear them, you can bet they would be comfy. Mine are so restrictive, have big metal pieces on both sides. My old ones only had one metal strip. These have a much nicer fastening strip though. I also do not understand why both of my hands have to be bad, instead of just one like some people. My...
  5. My neuro has mentioned doing infusions, but hasn't said anything more about it. My cholesterol was a little high, but had come down the last time tested, was 200. I want my Vit D, ferritin, cholesterol, and glucose level checked.
  6. I'm with Raven...no soy. I can also handle soy lecithin, nothing else. I didn't know this, had never heard it before. I take Folic Acid, was told you should when taking B12. I take 5000mcg of B12 daily. In June, my neuro told me to keep taking the same dose, said my neuropathy has improved slightly. Thing is, this week, my hands have...
  7. Thing is, some of us can't handle a level that low. I would be in misery with that level. My level is 1016, down from 1237, and I take 5000mcg daily of B12. My neuro told me to keep taking this dose, my neuropathy is finally showing some slight improvement. The higher the TIBC level, the worse you will feel. It should be no higher than mid range...
  8. My dogs begged for raw sweet corn..they would happily trot off with the ear in their mouth. They also loved cucumbers. My Aussie liked apples too, she loved to play catch with apples. They did get a little slimmy for throwing after a while though! Our dog when I was a child loved raspberries and ate them off the bushes. Believe me, our mom was not...
  9. Which brand did you try? I use Jarrow Methylcobalamin B12. It contains Xylitol, not Sorbitol, it doesn't bother me. It has no wheat, no gluten, not boy, no dairy, no egg, no fish/shellfish, no peanuts or treenuts. It's the best I ever use. You shouldn't take it before seeing your neuro anyways. It's best to have your B12 level checked before starting...
  10. Here on Long Island, we have Rita's Ice's. They came to our celiac support meeting, and gave out some samples and coupons. If you go to their website, it tells you the items that are gluten free. Last summer I did have something from Rita's, yet don't remember what. I did fine with it.
  11. I recommend everyone read, "Healthier Without Wheat" by Dr. Stephen Wangen. It's the best explanation of gluten intolerance and celiac. Dr. Wangen says non celiac gluten intolerance is not less severe than celiac disease, nor is there any evidence that celiac is the end stage of gluten intolerance. 3 million in the US have celiac, yet many more are gluten...
  12. I wouldn't trust Quaker...to much cross contamination there.
  13. I only have a flower garden too. I am on Long Island, and we have had so much rain this year..sounds like lots of people have. Flowers love rain, but they need sunshine too. In June, we had 26 days of rain. The flowers were all stunted. My impatiens are fine, they will grow anywhere, I have them come up every year. My pansies didn't last this year,...
  14. I find stevia too bitter...I have tried it over and over, and can't seem to make myself like it. My sister told me to stick with Splenda, cause it's made with real sugar. Now, she is suffering headaches too. Our headaches are difficult to pinpoint, to begin with, we come from a family line of headache sufferers. On top of that, I am always told my...
  15. Cold turkey, absolutely. Even if you feel bad for another week or two, you will soon feel so much better, you will wonder what took you so long!
  16. Did you ever have this with other sweeteners? I have used Splenda over the years since it came out, but not entirely. It's more expensive and I only used it when it went on sale. I have had the headaches for years, not always the same though, and they do get worse at times, never gone. Could nutrasweet and splenda effect me the same way? I just may...
  17. You are very welcome. When I saw it this morning, I was very impressed. It touched on everything and explains it so well. It's a little book every gluten intolerant/celiac should have. I am going to try to print it at work, or the library, my printer cant handle that many pages.
  18. I had the metallic taste when using nutrasweet, now that I have used Splenda for a few months, that taste is gone. BUT, I do have headaches, the doctors can't figure out why. I was on Topamax for well over a year, and it didn't stop the headaches. I do have a slightly herniated disc in my neck, so who knows. Maybe I will stop the Splenda for a while....
  19. Happy Birthday from rainy Long Island!!!
  20. I don't swell like you are talking about, bloating yes. Tomatoes are a nightshade, did you know that? If I ate salsa, I would have diarrhea in 20 minutes flat. The only potato chips I eat are UTZ brand. They do not seem to bother me. Corn chips are out, any flavored potato chips are out. I too eat chicken breast, veggies, occasionally tuna, or cod...
  21. This is probably the best read about gluten intolerance/celiac disease I have seen. Open Original Shared Link
  22. I can't stand the taste of stevia, and love Splenda...so yes, we are all different. I would stop eating both, then try one at a time. I am willing to bet the Honey Nut Chex are getting you. There are some people who do get diarrhea from different sweeteners...Truvia even has a statement on the box to that effect. Truvia also is made from the stevia...
  23. Me either. I have read about them, in news articles and such, yet have never met anyone who does it. I know there are many of us here who could write an article, which would be wonderful for the gluten intolerant. This person is not one of us, he is just writing what he has been told. It's difficult to know how we feel unless the person is also walking...
  24. Well, this is a sensitive subject for me. I just went to Turtle Mountain's website: Open Original Shared Link I recently switched to coconut milk...I have been drinking Turtle Mountain's SoDelicous Coconut Milk..one was vanilla flavored (all they had at the time) and unsweetened. I felt so much better with the dairy gone from my diet, and all...
  25. A great respnse BeLaugh86. I am one of those super sensitives.
