ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I get brave and eat something stupid, then get set back 3 weeks. Actually, my diet is very healthy, very little junk food. I had never thought about the CC issue with all grains before, don't know where my head was. I always learn the hard way! -

Very good thread. It's always good to know there are others out there just like yourself. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance Plus
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Some forms of Wellbutrin may not be, but the generic form I am taking is. My pharmicist is celiac, and she always checks anything I need, and will not give it to me until she has an answer. Thank you though. -
ARCHIVED Quaker Rice Snacks Now Contain Wheat!
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you click on the link to Quakers website that I put in my first post, it says it right there on the front page. I have a download from my celiea support group also, but don't know how to put that here. My group sent it out last night, it's current, very current. It may not be in the stores yet, but they will be. One of the Cracker Jack flavors has... -

Ravenwoodglass---I gots to tell ya, I love your avatar. I do like chickens, and this one, it has such a personally. I trusted Quaker Rice Cakes for a very long time, only ate the caramel corn cakes, probably just to have something to put my peanut butter on. I haven't had a rice cake in 1 1/2 years, I do not eat grains at all anymore. I did think... -
ARCHIVED Why Do Some People With Celiac Disease Look So Healthy And Other's Don't
darlindeb25 replied to Ms. Skinny Chic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I haven't been here for a while, this is an interesting thread. I was the fat, sick celiac. As someone else said, our bodies go into overdrive and keep whatever it can stored in fat cells. When I went gluten free 9 years ago, I lost 60#. When I was my sickest, I was my heaviest. Now, whenever I get glutened, or something else goes haywire, I gain. It... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Better But Am I Too Paranoid?
darlindeb25 replied to jensey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Of course, this is a personal decision...I could not do your job. If I was you, I would definitely try to find another position in the company, or try to find a new job. Airborne flour is a huge issue for many. Your incident the other day, getting sick while at work in the flour, would be all the proof I needed. If you can move within the company, try... -

ENF, thank you for saying my diet is very healthy. When people ask me what I eat, I tell them I actually have a very healthy diet, in my opinion. I haven't added magnesium, for one reason, of all my minerals, my magnesium actually is at a good level. Now BeLaugh...we sound so much alike. Itching from dairy, I never thought about that. I too was getting... -
ARCHIVED Should I Ask Dr. About Celiac?
darlindeb25 replied to jaciemack's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, ask him to test you for it, don't ask him what he thinks, tell him you want to rule it out. I always tell my kids, at least rule it out. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Misdiagnosed As Depression?
darlindeb25 replied to Mi55-E's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Me too, first Xanax, then Paxil, for years. It was misdiagnosed all the time, getting better though. People died because of misdiagnosing, and no one knows how many. People will be diagnosed, then they will remember someone in the family who died, and now they are sure that person was celiac too. -

I am celiac/gluten intolerant. I am intolerant of all grains. I actually wonder if it's all grains, or cross contamination. This is something many of us deal with on a daily basis. Have any of you ever been to an elevator, where grains are taken after harvesting? The grains are all put into bins. These bins are used for all grains, at different...

ARCHIVED Coffee Processed Without Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to BuffyWWJD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Momma Goose, try staying on topic, like you insist we do. What I eat has nothing to do with this discussion. I never stated that coffee is dusted with flour. I simply stated that flavored coffee's can contain gluten in the flavorings. Flat out telling people they do not have to worry is irresponsible, they should always be checking products. Many celiac... -
ARCHIVED Can We Trust Internet Site For Gluten Free Foods
darlindeb25 replied to Diva1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It really depends on the site. You have to know if it is up to date, is it the actual company website? Many factors to consider. Webisites like www.glutenfreedrugs.com are not updated as frequently as they should be. www.clanthompson.com updates quite often and their newsletter will list new products or changes in products. It's always best, if you... -
ARCHIVED Coffee Processed Without Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to BuffyWWJD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I simply meant, I do not have to prove to you that I was glutened by flavored coffee, I know I was. Yes, I do not trust these huge companies who claim they will always list gluten, when in all essence, they do not have to list any gluten below 20ppm. That is a proven fact..research the GIG website, it's all there.. Open Original Shared Link If they... -
The foods I still eat are on this list. Many of the things, I can't eat anymore. I did just add coconut milk to my diet, and no longer eat dairy. My nails are pink too---oh wait, that's nail polish! Kidding aside, "I don't get winded" jumped out at me. Yesterday, I went for a walk after supper, which I have been trying to do nearly every...

Not sure who you are asking, but I can answer for me. I am not sure that I am resisting it entirely. My neuro said, "Maybe we should do ferritin IV's." Then he moved on to something else, like it was just a thought and nothing more. He increased my Wellbutrin, told me to set up an appt with another neuro in the same office who does botox, to see his PA...

I hear you and feel your frustration. I have been gluten free for 9 years, and for the last 4 years, my doctors have been telling me I am doing fine. One tells me I am so healthy I will live another 50 years. My response, "Feeling like this! " I didn't have money, nor insurance until 4 years ago, well, I still don't have money! Since then though, every...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free On Long Island, Ny
darlindeb25 replied to Jamie's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi Jamie, are you a member of Suffolk County Celiacs? I can't tell by your pic if I have met you before. I live in East Islip. Our group highly recommends Mama's, they even cater our Christmas parties. Mama's have been catering to celiacs for a few years now. They were one of the first to truly open their doors to us. Everyone in the group rants and... -
I am taking a iron product called Ferrasorb, recommended by a gluten free doctor. I was afraid it would mess up my stomach, but it hasn't. My neuro has suggested ferritin IV's which I would imagine is the same thing as iron IV's, I can't find any info on one without the other. My iron itself is very low normal, but my ferritin is 2 points from anemic.

ARCHIVED How Sick Were You During Pregnancy?
darlindeb25 replied to kathyhay's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for bringing this post back up front. The baby I had, when my iron was so low, will be 28 on Saturday. I wonder if my iron has been low all these years. My ferritin is now 22, 2 points from anemia. -
ARCHIVED The gluten-free Diet Byelisibeth Hasselback
darlindeb25 replied to G-freegal12's topic in Publications & Publicity
Dr. Peter Green's book is very good too: Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic. I got this at the library. If you ask your library for a certain book and they do not have it, they can call out to other libraries for it. Many of the books are redundant, some stand out. The Gluten Free Bible is one that stands out, as does Healthier Without Wheat. Often... -
ARCHIVED Time For Exhaustion To Go Away
darlindeb25 replied to Knoppie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you had your B12 tested? Or your iron level? Most people with a gluten intolerance also have low levels of B12. Do you take vitamins? The fatigue never went away for me. I didn't realize how bad it was until my neuro diagnosed sleep apnea. I thought the way I felt was "just me". I have been gluten free for 9 years, and have been searching for... -
ARCHIVED The gluten-free Diet Byelisibeth Hasselback
darlindeb25 replied to G-freegal12's topic in Publications & Publicity
I have been gluten free for 9 years, and read a lot of books, her book did not impress me. Have you read "The Gluten Free Bible", or "Healthier Without Wheat", much better books, much better info? Also, "Gluten Free For Dummies" is a great book.
