  1. Here is the second part of the article. It focuses on Whole Foods practice of using the label "Good manufacturing practices, were used to segregate" potential allergens such as tree nuts, soy or milk". Open Original Shared Link
  2. Perfect, exactly how I feel.
  3. Thank you Lisa, another celiac double DQ1. I know there are more of us out there. Happy Thanksgiving!
  4. Not necessarily true. Doctors were taught that celiac disease is very rare, and they may never come across someone with it, so, it's not upper most in their thinking. If you feel you may be celiac, ask your doctor to have you tested. Just in case s/he says they aren't sure which test to run, be ready to list the tests you know of. If the doctor is really...
  5. Yes Laurie, this says it all!!! It's a personal decision as to seeing Dr. Fine, or not, just the same as it's a personal decision to see any doctor. Just agree to disagree and move on.
  6. Thank you for posting it under it's own title. I was thinking about doing it myself. I have no interest in Willshire Farm products, so I had not read that thread, simply because it does not pretain to me in anyway. Nope, it's no surprise. I have been saying, since the law came out about allergen labeling, that unless the FDA polices these companies...
  7. I agree, totally, with gfpaperdoll. She's right. I too, believe that celiac is a small piece of the gluten intolerance problem. I do however, believe we all have the same chance of having any of the health issues mentioned, plus more...simply because I believe gluten intolerance, and celiac are one in the same, just different stages of the disease. I...
  8. Some celiac's/gluten intolerant are much more sensitive than others. No, you don't put it in your mouth purposely, but do you touch your hair? I'm sure you do, we all do. So, you touch your hair, it's on your hand, you eat something, it's in your mouth. In my experience, it's just best for us to use all gluten free products, then we are much safer....
  9. Correction, there are 2 Mama's...one in Oakdale, which is raved about, and the other is in Sayville. No one has mentioned as to whether the Sayville location serves gluten free, or not. I think I heard that it isn't. Mama's caters our support group's Christmas party every year.
  10. I finally saw the first show "House" did about celiac disease. It was in his 2nd season, and until today, I had not seen it. My friend Sherrill had seen it twice, and told me how interesting it was. USA channel has "House" on every night. This one was about a mother, who while taking a bath with her baby, has a seizure. The father finds the mom seizing...
  11. Happy Birthday Jess!!!
  12. My eyes are very dry, and blowing air, fans, air conditioners all drive me crazy too. When winter comes, the dry air from having the heat on is an irratant too. I too have the blood veins in my eyes, yet my doctor tells me it's just hormonal. He will not admit it could be auto-immune, possible allergies, but probably hormonal because of my age. I am ...
  13. I agree totally with you. I work in a small office, everything has it's place, and change is not welcome. I do the accounts payable, and my invoices sit right next to where the others all bring in their gluteny treats, and it is a tough thing to handle. I have worked there 4 yrs now, and I do not ask for special treatment, yet I do ask them to be careful...
  14. I think the jury will always be out on this one. Some say the grasses do not have gluten, but I can't trust that theory. Besides that, the cross contamination issue is too huge on this one. I will not use either.
  15. I watch "House" all the time, and yeah, I saw the show last night. He didn't say that celiac disease and a wheat allergy were one in the same. He said, it could be one or the other. I found the show very interesting, even though the patient didn't have celiac. After the who, I switched to the USA network and watched a rerun of "House". In this show,...
  16. Happy Birthday Deb!!!
  17. Well Ross, to begin with...NO, do not go back to gluten! That would be the worst mistake you could make. This is what I found: Open Original Shared Link Are you postive you are totally gluten free? Medicines, soaps, shampoos, lotions...everything. Maybe it's time for a new doctor. I am not sure, but please do not go back to gluten.
  18. Gentleheart, don't give up. I have been gluten free for over 8 yrs now, and I have never felt great either. The problem for me, and maybe you, is, I was sick for so long before finding out about gluten. Well over 20 yrs, and doctors gave me so many bogus diagnoses. Imagine, how can a body handle all that, for so many years. Going gluten free is the road...
  19. Well, as it turns out, it wasn't celiac disease, the man had lead poisoning from shell fragments left in his hip. As Missy'smom says, there is a connection between mental illness and celiac. Anytime a person has severe malnutrition, there can be mental problems too...like panic attacks. I love "House", and I would love to have a doctor like him!...
  20. Your dietician is wrong. If you liked your instant coffee, check to make sure it is 100% coffee, and enjoy. It is also true that some people find they can't tolerate caffeine. I drink decaf for my health, and I do not miss caffeine in any way. Coffee has never bothered me, but for a while, I couldn't drink tea, now I can again. I have problems...
  21. Exactly Raven. Well said. This is a perfect example, and yes, I have felt looked down on by you and others before. Gluten free is not a lifestyle choice for me either, nor for most everyone on this board, it is essential for our survival too. If you are gluten intolerant or celiac, the prescription is the same. Many celiac's get diagnosed by accident...
  22. Welcome to the board Laurie (LBD). No railroading is allowed!!! I have never heard celiac disease, and gluten intolerance explained quite the way you explained it, and man, does that make sense. Thank you. Wonderful points!!! Sometimes I wonder too. Most of us do not really care who is celiac, and who is gluten intolerant...
  23. I honestly think most of the people who hear him speak, or try his product, do not really care if he has published anything. They are buying from him, his experience with the product, and the results they have heard from others. They don't care if he has reported his findings to his peers, that means nothing to them in their lives. I do not. I think...
  24. I use Softsoap, with mouisturizers. I do not get any burn from them. Dove Cream Oil Wash is nice too.
  25. I have removed nearly everything with high fructose corn syrup from my diet. I do still eat M&M's. I broke out of the mode and, a candy bar last weekend, and my tummy broke out in a nasty rash. I do not eat corn in any form anymore, no grains. I also do not use lotions or powders which contain corn.
