ARCHIVED Canned Sauerkraut
darlindeb25 replied to LynnR's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't had sauerkraut in more years than I can remember. I can't eat cruciferous veggies, or I would have it again. I can't even remember the last time I had it, probably over 10 yrs ago!! -
ARCHIVED Sensitivity To Other Foods After gluten-free
darlindeb25 replied to lbd's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Well, if I eat one Dove bar, once in a while, they don't bother me. I haven't tried lactose free yet. I honestly fear trying anything new anymore, now does that make sense??? Yeah, it makes sense. Too much at one time would definitely cause a reaction. Probiotics always mess with me. I tried them more than once, with the same results. -
ARCHIVED Sensitivity To Other Foods After gluten-free
darlindeb25 replied to lbd's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I never could stand the taste of yogurt. Yet, a few years ago, I decided I would try it, because it is good for us. There was a time when I couldn't stand to smell it, let alone let it touch my lips. I liked Columbo White Choc and Raspberry (when I was still in Mich), but they do not sell that brand here on Long Island. So I settled for peach, which was... -
ARCHIVED Best Dog Breeds For Kids?
darlindeb25 replied to JennyC's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, labs usually run a little bigger than you are wanting, yet they are the best dog for kids. Labs are very loving, and loyal. We had an australian shepherd mix, and she was a sweetheart too, only weighed 45# her entire life. We also had a cockapoo, and she was wonderful too. Sometimes, it's not the breed, it's how the dog is raised and loved. Collies... -
ARCHIVED Sensitivity To Other Foods After gluten-free
darlindeb25 replied to lbd's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your theory makes sense in some way. I have spent so long figuring out which foods bother me, I have nearly come to the conclusion that I will never eat them again. It's difficult to stay optimistic when you have lost so many foods. I worry more about losing the foods I can still have. I know that isn't the way to look at it, yet I do. -
ARCHIVED Isgolden Blossom Honey Gluten Free?
darlindeb25 replied to wakefield's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have never found a honey that contained gluten. I get honey all the time. What else are you eating? Many products that were previously gluten-free, now aren't. You have to read the labels every time, not just some of the time. Give us an idea of what else is in your diet. -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Gene Inheritance
darlindeb25 replied to parker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Now that's an understatement if I ever saw one!!! I have Double DQ, subtype 6 genes, and not only did I develop neurological problems, I also had intestinal problems. Double whammy!!! The intestinal problems came first, to my knowledge. I remember when I was much younger, like my late 20's, with aches and pains, and my mom would say, "You are too... -
ARCHIVED New Here, How Long To See A Difference?
darlindeb25 replied to cnosmom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Everyone is different. 9 days is not enough time to judge. It takes time for gluten to get out of a person's system. Give it at least a month, and she how she is doing. Be double sure you have her totally gluten free. Little ones that age put everything in their mouth! -
Well Rachel, everything is not about you. My statement actually had nothing to do with your report from Dr. Fine. My reaction was to something else you were saying that was in defamation of Dr. Fine's character. Nothing was mentioned about your test results, you were questioning something on his webside. I agree with Fiddle-Faddle. It's no excuse...

ARCHIVED People With Panic Disorder
darlindeb25 replied to jda1292's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My panic attacks started 28 yrs ago, although I had been sick for a few years before that. I have been gluten-free for 8 yrs, and my panic attacks are very rare now, and yes, I have panic attacks if I get glutened too. I too was on Xanax, which I still keep on hand (be aware, not all Xanax is gluten-free), and then I was on Paxil for several years.... -
ARCHIVED Gas-x
darlindeb25 replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yup, Pfizer is the company that said Xanax was gluten free, then later stated they never said it. I do have a gluten-free generic brand of Xanax. I had to search and search for a gluten-free company...my Xanax (alprazolam) is from Mylan Labs...they will always disclose gluten if it's in their product. Originally I had a generic from Greenstone Labs... -
The truth be known, the most educated celiac doctors in the US are from other countries. As a rule, our US doctors were taught that celiac is very rare, and they may never have a celiac patient. It's a wonder any of us are diagnosed!!

ARCHIVED Gas-x
darlindeb25 replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have read something about Gas-X too, but can't remember what, or where. Glutenfreedrugs.com are still listing Xanax as gluten-free, and it's not, they never took it off the list. I no longer trust that site. Some of these companies do have their info lines out of the country. If you do get a line you can hear on, often times you can't understand... -
ARCHIVED Did I Eat Any Gluten?
darlindeb25 replied to amcoops's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was under the impression that only plain, and vanilla Dannon yogurts were gluten free. Dannon has been well known for it's gluten content. What about the tomato soup?? Creamed soups often times have flour in them. -
ARCHIVED Gas-x
darlindeb25 replied to GlutenGalAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The best confirmation is to call the company itself. Glutenfreedrugs.com has too many errors in it. It doesn't get updated, you have to be very careful when referring to their website. CVS Softgel Gas Relief is gluten free, as is Walmart's Equate brand. -
Bubba Had Shingles Those of us who spend much time in a doctor's office should appreciate this! Doesn't it seem more and more that physicians are running their practices like an assembly line? Here's what happened to Bubba: Bubba walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what he had. Bubba said: 'Shingles.' So she...

Yes, please provide us with that link. I just read through his website, and I find nothing to that effect. Open Original Shared Link This looks very impressive to me. Patients with gluten sensitivity should be evaluated for nutrient malabsorption Now this doesn't sound like he is telling anyone they do not need a doctor. Furthermore...

I was thinking the same thing, and none of us are going to tell you it's ok to eat gluten. It's never ok for a celiac/gluten intolerant to eat gluten. You are poisoning yourself! Sinenox, you are looking at this the wrong way. Many of us who have been gluten free for years, sometimes do not have as severe a reaction when glutened, or we have a very...

This is not such good advice either, not when you have a problem with iodine. https://www.celiac.com/articles/177/1/The-G...rmis/Page1.html Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link

Someone with a stronger intolerance to iodine will probably come along, so I will bump this up. I do have a problem with iodine on my skin, not so sure about how much of a problem I have when eating it. I use sea salt now, and do not get much iodine otherwise. My vitamin does have the daily allotment of iodine in it, so I can't help you there.

ARCHIVED 2nd Period This Month!
darlindeb25 replied to julirama723's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
How old are you? At 42, I began menopause, which, sometimes, celiac women do go through menopause at a younger age. If your cycle has been messed up for a year, then I doubt doing a gluten challenge is causing the problem. -
ARCHIVED Misleading gluten-free Labelling At Whole Foods
darlindeb25 replied to NicoleAJ's topic in Publications & Publicity
Open Original Shared Link Feedburner is a great program. Click on the link, then scroll down to the Chicago Tribune, and you can listen to Steve and Johnnie (Steve is a celiac too), interview the writer of the article. It's in 3 parts, and very interesting. -
ARCHIVED Misleading gluten-free Labelling At Whole Foods
darlindeb25 replied to NicoleAJ's topic in Publications & Publicity
I had not seen Nicole's thread, sorry. The forum is very irratic as of late, wouldn't open again this morning for a time. I would have joined hers had I seen it first. Thank you happygirl! -
ARCHIVED What Soap And Shampoo Do You Use?
darlindeb25 replied to frec's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Softsoap for the shower, I always make sure there is no oats in whatever I buy, along with gluten. For my hair, I use Pantene, or Garnier Fructis, both gluten free, with the exception of the Pantene for brunettes, redheads, or blondes. My lotions are always gluten-free, some Bath & Body Works are gluten-free. I use Sweet Pea, White Tea &... -
ARCHIVED Any One Over 60 Living With Celiac
darlindeb25 replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, I am 53, went gluten-free 8 yrs ago. My sister aslo went gluten-free 8 yrs ago, she is 50. Our dad, after being very ill for some time, and having stomach issues for years and years, and years, went gluten free at age 69. That was 4 yrs ago this month. He was down to 135#, from nearly 250#. It took some time for him to feel better, now, he is doing...
