  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. I think I missed this thread the first time through. I think my daughter may be dealing with this. I never connected her problem with gluten, although I do believe she needs to be gluten free. Are you going to get tested for this? What are the tests? Feel free to email me: darlindeb25@aol.com Thank you, Deb
  3. I had panic attacks for years before going gluten free. I was diagnosed with panic attacks, anticipatory anxiety, and borderline agoraphobia...I even was in therapy for them. Now when I look back, I was given Xanax for the panic, and of course, Xanax contained gluten,,,feeding the monster, so to speak! I was on Paxil when I went gluten free, and eventually...
  4. Sometimes, when you go on a gluten free diet, and you still do not lose, it may mean you have another intolerance. If you are eating a lot of processed gluten free foods, they are much heavier than regular old wheat flour products. Try eating natural foods, nothing processed, stay away from high fructose corn syrup, and sugars. When I was my sickest...
  5. I have never heard this before. Have you ever been tested for spastic paraplegia? This is a ligament/muscle problem. My grandson is now 10, and was diagnosed at 5 yrs old of this disease. He walked on his tip-toes from the day he started walking. His sister, my granddaughter has the disease too. She never walked on her tip-toes, but she stubs her...
  6. I just went to their website, and this is their disclaimer, also listed as their last question in the FAQ: http://www.benefiber.com/fiberHealth/index.shtml
  7. Thank you Kathy. I have no idea why this was sent to me, but I have no intention of using it. Thank you for replying.
  8. Yesterday, I received a container of Benefiber in the mail. I find it questionable. The only ingredient listed is "wheat dextrin." It states it is sugar free, sodium free, and gluten free. It states there is less than 10ppm of gluten, so it's gluten free. I will not try it. I feel if it has one ingredient, which is a wheat product, then how can...
  9. I have been researching coffee, just to see what I can find. http://www.hollandbymail.com/coffee/coffee_bean_to_cup.html A very informative link about how we get coffee, I have never read this before. You learn something everyday! http://www.diagnose-me.com/treat/T112792.html http://www.vanhoutte.com/us_en/about_coffee/nutritional/ Now...
  10. Well golly Richard, I guess you can't back your opinion. You want all of us to believe you on your say so, but you tell us to back everything we say with links. SPICENATOR3000---I have never liked flavored coffee's so that hasn't been a problem for me. The vanilla bean idea is a good one for those who do like flavored coffee's. There was a time...
  11. I have read this somewhere before too, right now I can't find a link, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. When we hear something that may be a problem, it's always good to mention it, that way others do know enough to check and make sure what they ARE using doesnt contain gluten. Thank you for the warning Whimsikay!! I was glutened by Hazelnut Coffee...
  12. No--sorry, they should have said that all coffee's with any flavorings added MAY CONTAIN GLUTEN!!! You can never be sure with flavorings, unless it's specifically states gluten free. I was glutened by hazelnut coffee years ago. Many of your flavored teas now state they contain gluten!!! Folgers, Maxwell House, 8 O'Clock, are some of the gluten free...
  13. There is so much confusion about silent and latent celiac. A silent celiac is someone who does have damage, but no other symptoms. The villi does show damage, yet the patient doesn't know they are sick, a silent celiac is usually diagnosed by accident. A latent celiac is the one who has no visible damage yet. Here is an article I found from medicinenet...
  14. I still swear by my Pantene. I get remarks about how pretty my hair is all the time. How thick and shiny it is, how good it smells! I must be doing something right. I have used Garnier too, but much prefer Pantene. I was told Dove is just as good, but I really do not agree. Aussie products are good too, their 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner is great.
  15. Petemoss, you have to understand, everything can not be blamed on celiac disease. There may be something going on with your eyes that has nothing to do with your celiac disease. Some people have terrible night vision, my night vision is getting worse. I am 52, it happens. Go to an optometrist and get an eye exam. Don't just assume celiac disease is...
  16. I want to add here though--never take anything with your eyes for granted! Don't think--I must have been glutened because my eyes are blurry just because it happens to someone else. Bellyfat knows this happens and is aware of it from past experience. The other day, we had a patient come in for a regular exam. The doc asked her if she was prone to...
  17. Yup--me too, my daughter, my mother, my granddaughter--we gots it too. Seems to happen often, more often then many realize. My daughter can not have any metal jewelry touch her. So far, she has not complained about the zipper in her jeans, but then again, I am not sure it touches her, she wears them so big. I bought her a stone cross on a rope and the...
  18. I too find I can't tolerate tapioca starch or potato starch, which leaves me with cornstarch, which thankfully doesn't seem to bother me even though I have trouble with corn. It always amazes me how a food can bother a person, yet there are certain parts of a food we can tolerate.
  19. Covsooze, a B12 level of 387 is not high at all, it is very low in the range of B12 and some people need a lot more B12 then others. With celiacs, many times we do not utilize our vitamins the way non-celiacs do. Some doctors do not know enough about B12 to give good advice, be honest, a doctor can't know everything! The fact that your GP isn't concerned...
  20. Does it make a difference if test was fasting or non fasting ? Yes, the results from a non-fasting test are not anywhere near as reliable as a fasting test. covsooze--I do not know much about thyroid problems, but I do know that low levels of B12 will cause all kinds of problems. Also, celiacs does cause chemical imbalances and I am a firm believer in...
  21. Normal levels of B12 are way too low for a person with neuropathy. I belong to two different periphreal neuropathy forums and B12 is discussed often. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel 8 yrs ago, 3 yrs before I went gluten free. At the time, my left hand was worse, yet both hands were involved and I wore braces for 2 weeks straight, along with taking anti...
  22. Mine is from "The Vitamin Shoppe"---many CVS vitamins are gluten free too and it says it on the package. Nature Made may have one too. Nature Made always states on the container if they are gluten free. Deb
  23. Read the ingredients--if it says 100% coffee and nothing else, then it is fine. Be very leary of flavored coffees, they do many times contain gluten as do flavored teas. Always read the ingreds, never take anything for granted. I just found this info on an MSNBC website, by Phil Limbert: Hidden sources of gluten: Many vitamins and medications can...
  24. I use Walmarts brand of Gas-X------Equate Gas Relief, Extra Strength--its gluten free and works very well. Deb
  25. pantene is gluten-free--i use it on all of this hair--it is the only product i use that lets me comb all this hair out with ease--i tried equate's brand of pantene and i couldnt comb my hair---vidal sassoon is gluten-free too, but i still prefer pantene over anything else--never use tressemme--it contains wheat------ deb---by the way--my hair is 22" long...
