ARCHIVED Anyone Have Problems With Coconut Milk?
darlindeb25 replied to OliveBranch's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I got very sick from Coconut Milk...positive I was glutened by it. I can't make myself try it again. -
I don't think it is saying that at all. When you read further into the article, they explain what happens to an undiagnosed celiac...which is true, celiac/gluten intolerance can shorten your life if you do not know you have it. It's just an informative article, telling the symptoms to watch for, if you have any of the symptoms, ask your doctor about being...

ARCHIVED How Many With celiac disease Have A Short 5th Finger ?
darlindeb25 replied to irish daveyboy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Not sure how accurate this is...both of my pinky fingers are shorter, and I do not have a celiac diagnosis, I am gluten intolerant though. There is also something about foreheads that is suppose to mean celiac...can't remember what it is though. -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Labbott...does your son have a definite diagnosis from a doctor...a doctor willing to sign on the dotted line that he has celiac disease? That can be used in court, to prove your son has to be gluten free, that his father has to provide him with the proper enviroment, if he gets any visitation. I too got divorced just a few years before I found out I... -
ARCHIVED Is Dq8 A Death Sentence?
darlindeb25 replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are so dramatic! All kidding aside, DQ8 is rarer than DQ2, but not rare. DQ2 and 8 are the two genes they say a person must have to be diagnosed celiac...yet, you can carry these two genes, separately, together, or doubled and never develop celiac. Also, these are not the only genes which can cause autoimmune diseases. I have an autoimmune disease... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Labbot--I would never tell a person that something like this couldn't happen...no one knows for sure, and those who will tell you that it absolutely can't happen, are those who do not have this type of reaction. Many gluten intolerant walk around with their heads buried in the sand, thinking that the 20ppm of gluten in their "gluten free" foods can't hurt... -
ARCHIVED Can Undereating Cause Insomnia?
darlindeb25 replied to Gfresh404's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Do you still use dairy? Dairy causes my insomnia...took me 30 years to figure it out. The food syou are eating are not undereating...it's much healthier than many people. Are you eating fruits with heavy syrup, or do you stick with light syrup, or fresh fruits. Do you drink caffiene coffee? Have you had a sleep study done? I never, in a million years... -
ARCHIVED Negative Test - Need Some Advice
darlindeb25 replied to beanbird's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gluten intolerance is much bigger than just celiac disease. Just because you didn't test positive for celiac, does not mean you are not gluten intolerant. Scientists have, so far, only been able to create testing for celiac, they do not have a test specific to gluten intolerance yet. Did you have gene testing done? There are many genes specific to gluten... -
ARCHIVED Sorghum Reactions?
darlindeb25 replied to Surattius's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have a friend who's entire family has a problem with sorghum. I will not try it, it's too close to corn, and I can't tolerate corn. -
I do have a problem with mold, always have. I was a self diagnosed celiac, and now have been diagnosed as gluten intolerant. I know mold is a problem for me, but I also know gluten will never be a part of my life again. If you feel good eating gluten, then maybe you are ok with it. If you aren't feeling alot better, then maybe you should have a test...

ARCHIVED If Oats Can Be Cc'ed In The Field And Factory, Why Can't Soy?
darlindeb25 replied to StacyA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The problem with 20ppm being the standard amount of gluten that is safe, is it isn't safe for everyone, may not be safe for any of us for that matter. I react at 5ppm and less of gluten...saying 5ppm because they can not test any lower than 5ppm. Many of the labeled "gluten free" foods do contain 20ppm of gluten. Some of us definitely react to this amount... -
ARCHIVED If Oats Can Be Cc'ed In The Field And Factory, Why Can't Soy?
darlindeb25 replied to StacyA's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
All grains have the same potential for CC, not just oats. Soy can be CC'd just the same. Often times, a person will think when they have tummy upset, or other symptoms, it just can't be what they ate because it didn't contain gluten, it was soy, or corn. Any grain grown on a farm has the potential for CC. That's why so many of us who are super sensitive... -
ARCHIVED Feelings Of Guilt
darlindeb25 replied to positivenrgfairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No, I didn't. This isn't something we do on purpose, it's a poison we are trying to stay away from. Being gluten intolerant is not different than saying you are diabetic...people tend to understand daibetes a little bit more, yet it's the same type of principle...we have to eat differently, period. People just do not understand how serious being gluten... -
ARCHIVED Neuro Symptoms
darlindeb25 replied to Elizabeth Ann's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Actually, neuro problems are very common with a gluten intolerance. I had neuro problems caused by gluten all along, I just didn't realize it. Many people suffer anxiety caused by gluten, anxiety is a neuro problem. Neuro is not just neuropathy, join pains, and such. Some people are diagnosed bipolar, when actually gluten is the problem, and bipolar is... -
ARCHIVED Help! Jerseyangel/momma Goose/ravenwoodglass/sensitives-very Sick!
darlindeb25 replied to oceangirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you called the company for Enrico's to see if they have changed the ingredients? Maybe try a different tomato product and see if you have the same symptoms. I was gluten free 3 years when out of the blue, I could not eat anything tomato, not fresh, not stewed, not sauces, nothing tomato. My nightshade symptoms are the same as being glutened used to... -
That's wonderful, and you have a very good doctor. There are still many doctors out there that feel, if you do not have celiac, then gluten doesn't matter. That's just not true. Celiac disease is just a tiny part of the gluten intolerance spectrum. When gluten intolerant, there are many other diseases and syndromes a person may develop other than celiac...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free, Healed, Yet Becoming Increasingly Anemic?
darlindeb25 replied to DreamWalker's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Have you tried dairy free? Maybe just lactose free? All those meds, are you sure they are all gluten free? Do not go by some list on the internet, I find those aren't updated enough, and they do not cover the spectrum of generic drugs. You have to call the individual generic labs. I learned the hard way. www.glutenfreedrugs.com still lists Xanax as... -
I think I missed this thread the first time through. I think my daughter may be dealing with this. I never connected her problem with gluten, although I do believe she needs to be gluten free. Are you going to get tested for this? What are the tests? Feel free to email me: darlindeb25@aol.com Thank you, Deb

ARCHIVED Please Help Me Save My Daughter!
darlindeb25 replied to kaleesmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Your daughter may be super sensitive like many of us are. Any of these products would make me ill, just as it bothers so many of us. The "gluten free" label does not necessarily mean totally gluten free...it simply means the level of gluten is lower than 20ppm, which 20ppm makes me very ill, as does 5ppm. It has taken me a long time to figure... -
ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Items That "got You"
darlindeb25 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I find it so depressing that so many people tell us to trust them, and then gluten us. I'm with Steph, there is nearly nothing labeled "gluten free" that will not gluten me. for a long time, I didn't even realize I was being glutened...my glutened symptoms have changed over time, so I didn't realize they were symptoms of being glutened. Now, these incidents... -
It is very possible your worst symptom of gluten intolerance is MS. They aren't sure what causes MS, yet they do know that vitamin and mineral deficiencies aid in the development of MS. Gluten intolerance causes vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Just as Brigala says...if you stick to the gluten free lifestyle, your MS symptoms may improve. I too, am...

ARCHIVED Soy/gluten Intolerant People, I Have A Question
darlindeb25 replied to RacerRex9727's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Soy causes the symptoms I used to get with gluten...stomach cramping, diarrhea, and I am sick for at least 3 weeks...gluten now is mostly neurological symptoms, yet my tummy isn't right for 3 weeks to 4 months. -
ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Items That "got You"
darlindeb25 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The mention of coconut reminded me...SoDelicious Coconut Milk got me...definitely CC. When I notified the company, they first told me it wasn't possible, yet when they sent me a refund, they thanked me for letting them know there was a CC issue, and they would be looking into it. I just found the SoDelicious Coconut Yogurt in our local Stop-n-Shop yesterday... -
ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Items That "got You"
darlindeb25 replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This surprises me Patty, I eat the regular UTZ all the time, and never have a reaction. Did you eat reg or flavored? I can't eat any "gluten free" labeled foods. The cereals make me ill, as do any of the bars, cookies, crackers, anything with other grains in them. I feel the CC issue is my problem. All the other grains are CC'd by gluten to begin with... -
ARCHIVED Early Childhood Celiac Symptoms
darlindeb25 replied to Kilpatrick's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, and welcome to the forum. After reading your post I thought I should tell you about someone that has those same symptoms when glutened & that she (& other family members) are also very allergic to sorghum flour & the whole sorghum family. I have a friend, this happens to her & to her grandchildren. My friend is 60 & gluten...
