  1. Likewise, Lisa! Much love for the list!! I continued to have symptoms about every third day on a low histamine diet for 4 weeks. After reading up on the low histamine chef's site, I recently changed every rackin frackin beauty product I use and things seem to be getting better (knock on wood). I don't smell either, which I see as a distinct plus. ...
  2. Thank you for the research! I was looking before I saw your second post and NEVER would have found that. If you have any crunchy tips- let me know. I'm new at this!
  3. Hi All- I picked up some peppermint spirits yesterday because I'm getting really crunchy an making my own toothpaste. They have 100% gluten free on the label, but it is 85-90% distilled grain alcohol (which I know can be made of corn or something else gluten free). I called the number on the bottle to interrogate the poor people, but only reached a distributor...
  4. Somehow, I always seem to get things in my mouth... I checked Method hand soap because I got a bit of a cleaning product in my mouth when, apparently, full contact cleaning my bathroom. I went right to the sink, got some soap and put it....oops- have to call Method right away! The hydrolyzed wheat protein is what got me in the hand sanitizer. That...
  5. Good Luck today!! Just FYI- I've been forced to eat out a lot due to business trips and travel. I have NEVER (knock on wood) been glutened by a restaurant. I like the change you made to your profile too. It's more fitting of your personality. Also, Congrats on your snow day- favorite day of all teachers!! I'm on snow day #2 here. My husband walked...
  6. Thanks for clarifying my awkwardly placed comment, Adalaide an Karen! I only added it because I know that some people have gotten ill from things which are labeled gluten free- whether from being super sensitive or from something else. Since she's so sensitive, I just wanted her to be aware. But my intent wasn't to scare anyone or give bunk info. ...
  7. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease around 23 years old. I have eye symptoms, which rules out radio active iodine (Mmmmm, sounds yummy), and I'm a professional singer, so there's no way I'm going under the knife when the knife cuts so closely to my laryngeal nerve. I'm 40 now and have been on meds on and off as needed for Graves the entire time. I was...
  8. Logic says you can't have it both ways. If you didn't get glutened by wheat noodles being in with your gluten free food, odds are you're not sensitive enough to get glutened by CC in your own home while you are in control of your food. There are a lot of possibilities here, non-Celiac gluten intolerance, silent celiac, other food intolerances, combinations...
  9. It seems that some people do have actual heart problems associated with their disease. But I can tell you I had the exact same pains as you have experienced and have no diagnosed heart issues, despite several EKGs over the years before diagnosis and a stress test after diagnosis. The pains are mostly in the sides of my ribs and wrap around to the breast...
  10. You may also want to consider your family background and health history in considering if you are at risk for being celiac. It is genetic, so you may have other people in your family with Gastro health issues. Also, other autoimmune diseases put you further at risk for developing the disease. Italian and Irish have high rates of celiac in their population...
  11. If you're that sensitive, also consider that "certified gluten free" usually tests to 20 ppm and some people react to that amount. I've seen some baking mixes (Fresh Market) that tout most of their batches test to 5 or under ppm. I'm not sure that applies in this situation as it seems that others have experienced this type of food sharing problem. But...
  12. Maybe you should try a gluten-free restaurant with a good friend before going out on a date? For me, the pressure of eating out for the first time combined with a first date would push me over the edge. You get better at asking the right questions as you go (I guess that applies to both restaurants and dates). Best of luck! Sounds like that Positive Attitude...
  13. We are different, as celiacs. This dilemma of going out with friends on the fly will always exist for us. It will take time to figure out how you will deal with it. Personally, I choose to put the focus on being out with friends. It was difficult at first, eating plain rice at the Japanese restaurant, or just having a soda at the pizza place that doesn...
  14. You've been talking about a rash that sounds an awful lot like DH. I don't have it, but you should search the forum for information. They could biopsy the rash and give you a diagnosis just from that. Some general info on DH including how to test it is provided in the link below. If you have DH, you have celiac- no endo needed. Please note that the...
  15. Yeah!!!!! You don't have esophageal cancer! (Celebrate that a bit more!) I share in your ability to make a medical mountain out of a mole hill. Many, many, many google searches on worst case scenarios. So, I get it and you are definitely not being "judged" here. My advice to you would be not to worry about it too much, but to still advocate...
  16. Wow- so glad to know about the magnesium! Katie, at least you know you're not alone!!
  17. Even though I have checked my hand soaps, I haven't come across one that contains gluten. I wasn't sure how prevalent gluten would be in hand soaps, so I looked it up. Turns out you're right to be suspicious! Open Original Shared Link
  18. I often get tingling in my hands- as if they were asleep and blood was flowing back into them- as well as slight dizziness. I don't believe these symptoms are from celiac, but another issue. However, that doesn't mean that your symptoms are not caused by the celiac. Low blood pressure can cause both these symptoms, I believe. Are you on the low side?
  19. I don't think the mustache or silverware are a problem as long as they are clean. Does you're husband drink beer? Have you read posts on beer kisses??
  20. I know you're not completely new at this, but have you checked the things that might be making it into your mouth that aren't food? Lotion, hand sanitizer, shampoo, dental floss, mints/gum. It's winter and we're all trying to avoid colds. This time last year I glutened myself on an almost daily basis for about three weeks before I read the ingredients on...
  21. How was he diagnosed? A positive diagnosis doesn't seem likely from what I know. There's a stronger chance he is more sensitive and needs to back off other foods as well, as suggested above. How old is he? Is it possible he's cheating on his diet at school- swapping items at lunch? I don't mean to offend with that question. I just know that even...
  22. The cardboard box is a great idea! That may be your first step. If you're not sure what's safe in your pantry, look it up on the web or call the number. If it's glutenous, throw it in the box. At first when I was eating gluten-free, my husband was still eating gluten. I remember getting very upset with him a couple of times when he handled my food...
  23. One of them is actually called "Cup 4 Cup" Open Original Shared Link They sell it at William-Sonoma and Whole Foods. I don't have either of those stores in my town, but bought some when I was visiting. I haven't used it yet, so I can't tell you how it is. McCormick is pretty good about listing ingredients. They are a friendlier company. When I first...
  24. Hi- Here are some links on DH for your docs, if you care to educate them...or for your Uncle and other family members. Open Original Shared Link This one states that an intestinal biopsy is unnecessary if DH is confirmed with biopsy. Open Original Shared Link This one states that only about 40% of people with DH test positive with the blood test...
  25. Adelaide- My mouth is watering over here from reading your post! I have such a sweet tooth, I'd probably go all junk to put on some lbs. Nutella, nutella, and nutella. Dairy is a great idea if you can handle it- as well. Except I would go for the ice cream/froyo and greek yogurt (tons of protein!) instead of the sauces, sour cream, etc. Pie. Pancakes...
