  1. I can't help you make that choice, but I wanted to give you a cheer for making it throught the whole thread. https://www.celiac.com/articles/222/1/Glute...ages/Page1.html Somethings, ya just gotta go for it.
  2. https://www.celiac.com/articles/182/1/Unsaf...ents/Page1.html Scroll down to the bottom of this link. It indicates that caramel color in the US is generally safe. It also states that caramel color must comply with US FDA labeling rules (not to include barley malt) So my conclusion would be that it is not likely, but possible that caramel color in...
  3. You're right, caramel color in the US is no longer considered an issue for Celiacs. Could it have been some cross contamination? Hope you feel better soon.
  4. Currently the Celiac Disease Foundation and Celiac Sprue Association do not recognize stool testing as a legitimate means of diagnoses. Some people here have been satisfied with their result from Enterolabs. Enterolabs can show sensitivity, but they cannot diagnose for Celiac Disease. Your daughters tested positive, therefore you or your husband ...
  5. https://www.celiac.com/ Here is a good start, with various categories on our home page. (or click on the top of this page Celiac Disease Info)
  6. I don't have other food issues (knock on wood), but many here have issues with soy. Others will post.
  7. Hi Robin and welcome! Glad you found this site. Celiac Disease testing is not what we would like at the present time. The Serologic Panel can rule Celiac in, but it cannot rule it out, as the same with and endoscopy/biopsy. The only true test, and the least scientific is positive dietary responce. A positive dietary response will not tell you if...
  8. Hi baby girl. Nice of you to visit and add your expertise
  9. I cook Pamela's Choc. Cake Mix and it's faaarrrr better than Duncan Hines. Just eating it is a celebration.
  10. Hi Lois and Welcome! Let's keep things simple in the begining. You have several things working for you. You have a strong family history, you are symptomatic and you respond well to the gluten free diet. It may be very likely that you have Celiac, a gluten intolerance, sensitivity or an allergy to gluten. If you would like to be tested, this is...
  11. I certainly understand where you're coming from. Most of us here have experienced the frustration you have. Celiac takes and average 11 years to diagnose. We DO need to listen to our bodies and TEACH our doctors. But we must be careful not to play doctors on the internet, unless of course, we are one.
  12. We can talk about our personal experiences, but I always think it wise find information from many sources and then to consult a medical doctor.

    ARCHIVED Symptoms

Hi Laurianne, My name is Lisa and I've been active on this site for over three years. You will find a wide variety of people here. But, there is one thing we all have in common. For the most part, many of us have been very, very ill and in searching for a path to good health, we landed here. Celiac Disease has over 200 symtoms and the group...
  14. Question? Is all consumable alcohol distilled? (aside from wines and beers) Wouldn't a potato source for the alcohol be considered organic? If all consumable alcohol is distilled, and the distillation process is said to remove the offending protein, then all consumable alcohol is considered a safe level for Celiacs, regardless of the source. (other...
  15. Expanding on my original post, do I recall wheat is broken down to wheat dextrin and that is considered safe for Celiacs to consume? ...hum, perhaps it was Irish Dave that posted information on "wheat dextrin". Anyone? (don't try this at home until verified, please)
  16. Rice Guy, wouldn't synthetic be non-organic?
  17. Nope, I wouldn't buy it either and won't in the future, to include all of there products. Pitty
  18. Jealous
  19. Welcome, I would revisit her gluten free diet. Have you checked your used toaster, wooden cutting boards and spoons, lotions, shampoo, meds, vitamins or any contact she may have with her mouth. Contamination at school is very difficult to avoid, with personal contact with food and other children. Are her school supplies safe. Play Doh is not. Have...
  20. I could not find an allergen statement on their website. I think that it would be doubtful that it contained gluten, but as Ken stated, it's always good to call the company. Wheat by law must be listed on the ingredient listing or listed in an allergen statement on the bottle. It is unlikely that barley, malt or rye would be an ingredient. I use McCormicks...
  21. Mustard flour is made from mustard seeds. Not a gluten worry

    ARCHIVED Do I Have Celiac's?

Welcome and it could be a gluten allergy.
  23. All wines are gluten free, regardless of the distillation process. Wine is derived from grapes. https://www.celiac.com/articles/222/1/Glute...ages/Page1.html
  24. Hi Jim and Welcome!! Healing time can vary depending on the extent of damage, length of time undiagnosed and diligence to the diet. We all are different. I have found that I reacted to every food, gluten free or not, until some healing was allowed to take place. Your response to the diet can take several days, several weeks or even several months...
