  1. I'm looking for suggestions regarding a new women's multi-vitamin that meets the following specs: -no gluten, dairy and soy -preferably organic -nutrient dense -only has to be taken once a day and can be taken on an empty stomach I am currently taking New Chapter Organics Women's Once Daily, but it contains soy, so I'd like to get away from that...
  2. hi dozey, it seems to be a personal choice whether to use gluten free hair, skin and makeup products. I've also read that the molecule is too large to be absorbed through the skin, but especially with hair care, what if some happens to run down your face and get in your mouth, or you don't wash your hands after touching your face with makeup containing...
  3. Hi casharp, Before you take gluten out of your diet, have you been blood tested for celiac or undergone an endoscopy? You must be consuming gluten for both of these tests, and do NOT let the doctors tell you otherwise If not, it would probably be a good idea to at least get the blood test done for it. Your PCP can order this test. A full celiac...
  4. ok here's some more of my deductive reasoning skills of why I believe I have celiac vs. gluten intolerance. hopefully it seems logical, or at the very least...entertaining positive is my HDL is pretty good! Warning: I searched for pub med articles to back my ideas, but unfortunately I had a hard time finding studies about too low cholesterol and triglycerides...
  5. So my hair had been getting really dry, and I decided it was time for a shampoo change. I went in search of finding gluten free products, and ended up in Target looking around and found Shea Moisture products, which are labeled gluten free. It's only been a week of use, but my hair is already softer and my scalp is not as dry. Before spending the money...
  6. yeah there have definitely been days that have been really hard, but as you know then you see their smiling faces full of joy and eagerness, and think ok time to make them excited about music, and then suddenly it's the end of the day i teach 1st-5th grade. what grades did you teach before getting into the college level?
  7. posting a small victory! do you know when you do ab exercises and you feel that lift from up under? I can finally feel that again, and it's been sooooo long the bloating is much better, as is the reflux. I am on the path to bathroom regularity, and that makes me soooooo happy!!! I am trying to get back into exercising, and I finally have more energy...
  8. I completely agree about the mentality of sopranos. one word comes to mind...Diva my whole family is musical...sometimes we even perform as a family band. It's pretty cute My Mom is a soprano 1 and voice teacher, and growing up she always wanted and tried to give me voice lessons. it's hard trying to be taught by your parents because they're extra...
  9. anti-soprano, thanks for the idea I've actually thought about low stomach acid and bought HCL pepsin capsules. I've taken them with higher protein meals, but sometimes I'll take only one capsule with a meal, it's a 650 mg dose, and get burning in my throat, so I'm not sure if that's my problem. Someone on the forum recommended reading Why Stomach Acid...
  10. meant to come back earlier to post, but my doctor said that shouldn't be happening, and they should be broken down more. In the meantime, I've realized my body also does the same with coconut. I'll try reintroducing them in a few months, and if it still happens, I'll try some digestive enzymes. He couldn't give me an explanation as to why it was happening...
  11. see if your doctor can give you the full blood panel for celiac. it consists of: DGP igA (newer test) DGP igG (newer test) ttg igA ttg igG EMA (you already had this one done) total igA (you already had this one done) also when you get them done, ask for a copy, and you can post the results here. good luck!
  12. so far no one has been able to come up with a reason for a raised DGP score besides celiac. here's a thread I started regarding it https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/100245-other-known-causes-of-high-dgp-igg-besides-celiac/
  13. I feel like I'm looking at my results I also had only a positive DGP igg, and negative everything else, and I am not igA deficient. I had an EGD with 8 biopsies, and since they came back normal, my GI diagnosed me with gluten intolerance. I am also vitamin D and K deficient, and low in potassium. I still say if it was only gluten intolerance, why is...
  14. excellent news, and it's great he took that many samples!!
  15. it looks like all they measured is the immunoglobulin results for control tests with everything in range though the igG is almost out, but it doesn't seem that they actually did any celiac specific tests. celiac tests are: DGP iga/ igg ttg iga/igg EMA is it possible to get an actual copy of the tests, or is this it? on my report it was listed...
  16. does your chapstick definitely have gluten in it? though i'm not sure if chapstick would be enough to raise it anybody have any ideas on that one?
  17. hi Connie, has the gluten-free diet made you feel better? if yes, then your answer is stick with the diet To be honest, I have no idea why your DGP-igA would be raised more, if you have been following a strict gluten-free diet. Does that include gluten-free cosmetics and toiletries? Did you ever have a biopsy? Can anyone else answer, is it possible...
  18. hmmm at the rate celiac diagnosis is going, what if you have a family member who has silent celiac, and doesn't even know it yet? If you show symptoms, why can't she order the test. it's frustrating that some doctors don't want to give a simple blood test. Yes, they won't make money off you if you just need a dietary change, but aren't they supposed to...
  19. glad you are getting some answers!! hope you're feeling better today
  20. sounds like a plan!
  21. thanks for starting this thread! I'm a little over a month gluten-free as well, and I've noticed my GERD getting better. I've recently tried a little more strenuous exercising after a long hiatus from it. I stopped because exercise no longer made me energetic, but actually made me more tired and sore, but not a good post-workout sore I'm happy to say...
  22. did you get a copy of the results? Was the complete panel run? ttg iga/igg dgp iga/igg EMA total iga
  23. Lisa, I agree about the High DGP score indicating celiac. From everything I've read, if I had gluten intolerance vs. celiac disease, I would not be producing any antibodies against gluten, but I feel like a dog chasing its tail Too many things point to celiac...except the negative biopsy Mushroom posted a great article in another thread of an interview...
