ARCHIVED Scd-coconut Milk Yogurt
Claire replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Are you just following regular yogurt making instructions but subbing coconut milk or have you a special recipe? Claire -
I ate at Outback tonight. The waitress had never served a gluten-free patron before but she put out an all out effort. The kitchen didn't help - they gave her a regular meal. She graciously took it back and asked questions so she would better understand the next time. It was a great meal - as usual. Outback's gluten-free menu is nationwide but...

ARCHIVED National Uniformity For Food Act
Claire posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This may be of interest to some or all of the forum members. Claire URGENT: STOP THE NATIONAL UNIFORMITY FOR FOOD ACT (H.R. 4167) BEFORE IT WIPES OUT HUNDREDS OF FOOD SAFETY LABELING LAWS Keep up the pressure on your lawmakers to stop passage of H.R. 4167, a bill heavily supported by junk food manufacturers that would -- believe it or not -- make it... -

Claire 'EAT WHAT YOU WANT' PILL CAUTION The pill makes the gut less ’leaky’ Experts advise caution about claims of a pill that could enable people with diabetes and coeliac disease to eat foods that are normally off-limits. People with coeliac disease need to avoid whe...

Keep your eyes open for this. Claire INVESTORS GET LEAWOOD BREWER HOPPING Diagnosed at age 35 with a disorder that left him unable to digest gluten, there isn't a breakfast cereal Craig Belser can eat, nearly all restaurants are off-limits, and he struggles daily to match his diet with his body's needs. ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Syndrome & Gilbert's
Claire replied to Bonnie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Believe me, there is such a thing as Leaky Gut Syndrome - though it is rarely recognized by the 'medical community'. There are many techncial articles on the subject online. One clear sign of it is delayed food 'allerg' response to one or many foods. This occurs because tiny particles are able to pass through the permeable wall (otherwise called 'leaky... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitivity Question
Claire posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Does anyone have diagnosed Gluten Sensitivity and a negative endoscopy? If so I would appreciate knowing how close together you had the tests and where you had the tests. Thanks for your help. Claire -
I have to eat crow. I recently posted a topic Good News - Bad News - where I talked about my recent colonoscopy and endoscopy. I said that the doctor had not taken a biospy of the stomach though he found and diagnosed gastritis. I was wrong. He simply failed to record that he taken both stomach and intestinal biopsies. I found this out when my GP received...

ARCHIVED Speech Problems - Following Through With Sentences
Claire replied to Lisa's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have never personally had the brain fog problem. I do know that going gluten-free helps with this. Recently got my daughter's coworker (recently diagnosed with lupus) to go gluten-free. Brain fog was to her a threat to her job so she is trying hard. Very definite improvement. The speech issues are something different. I have ataxia - a gait and balance... -
ARCHIVED Is This A Gluten Problem?
Claire replied to WHYNOT's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you have an endoscopy they will pick up stomach issues like ulcers, gastritis, etc. while that tube in 'on the way down'. Two birds with one stone, so to speek. Claire -
You don't throw out the pulp unless you want to. Veggie pulp is great added to soup stock or even mixed into stir fry. The fruit pulp is (depending on the juicer) quite dry - you can add a little juice back in and eat it like applesauce, add seeds and nuts etc. Also you can add it to homemade yogurt. We have an Omega 8005 here and it's a beauty. ...

ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick Breads
Claire replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use the yeast free tapioca white bread from Kinickinick. I do not care for it unless it is toasted. I toast it frozen and it is very good. It is hard enough to find even tolerable gluten-free bread but to find a yeast free bread that is any good is all but impossible. These are usually as heavy as bricks - not to mention tastless. I think they also make... -

ARCHIVED Apt. With Nutritionist Last Night
Claire replied to danikali's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Who knows why family members tend to be so insensitive. With most of you it seems to be your mother. With me it is my children - at least two of them (both girls). It isn't that they don't believe me - they simply don't want to hear anything about it. If I am going for tests one of the girls just changes the subject without asking why, when or where. ... -

Those who read my Good News- Bad News post already know that my endoscopy revealed gastritis. The full report on the intestinal results is due in 10 days. My doctor failed to take a biospy of the stomach when he found the gastritis so I have half a diagnosis. I know that I have it but do not know what type of gastritis it is. He wrote a precription for Prilosec...

ARCHIVED Good News - Bad News
Claire replied to Claire's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks, Lynne. I was waiting for you to drop in. I really believe when the doctors do a half dozen or more of these procedures in a morning that they don't know one patient from another - you are just another bare arse on the table! If he had really remembered our office conversation then he would have registered 'autoimmune history' and would have taken... -
This is a very good article for people with osteoporosis. Claire Excerpt from BONE BUILDERS - THE SECRET OF AN ALKALINE DIET AND LIFESTYLE THE CALCIUM PARADOX My personal awareness of the importance of this acid-alkaline balance developed as I began rethinking osteoporosis from the perspectives of both an anthropologist and a nutritionist. I quickly...
