ARCHIVED Food Allergy Expert Reacts To Mcdonald's News Of Allergens
Claire replied to Claire's topic in Publications & Publicity
Thanks for this piece. PRweb is not in any way disreputable because it posts submitted press releases. Certainly people promote themselves and their works - even that is not disreputable. As a news editor I always check a 'doubtful' story against other sources - if I can find another source on the same subject. If I can't I usually just forget it. Publicity... -
ARCHIVED Parasites
Claire replied to key's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Parasites are real as anyone who has gone to some of the foreign countries can tell you - especially Latin America, To really gross you out, my grandmother had a near relative who was sick for several years. She lost an alarming amount of weight and was expected to die. I don't know how or who it was that a parasite was suspected but she had a big one... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Cope With Multiple Food Intolerances?
Claire replied to covsooze's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have lived with multiple food intolerances for 15 years. I will soon be posting some tips for the 'intolerant' folk on this forum. I am a bit rushed tonight but very quickly - no matter what lab does the testing you will have false positives. I certainly did. Here is where the elimination idea works. Your tests give you a baseline. You will know some... -
ARCHIVED Almost Ice Cream
Claire posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just found this wonderful product. It is called a sorbet but it is unlike any sorbet I have encountered. Rather than being icy it is smooth and creamy - as good as ice cream. Product name is Sharon's Sorbet. It is not labeled gluten free but here are the ingredients: Water, coconut milk, coconut cream, cane sugar, corn syrup, coconut shreds, natural... -
ARCHIVED Food Allergy Expert Reacts To Mcdonald's News Of Allergens

Brief but it gets the message out. Claire FOOD ALLERGY EXPERT REACTS TO MCDONALD'S NEWS OF ALLERGENS IN COOKING OIL Dr. Ellen Cutler is concerned about the hidden allergins in fast food and feels that parents need to know what their kids are eating. San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 15, 2006 -- After years of misinformation to the public about... -
I would bet on - they changed the ingredients. One other thing, sometimes the people who determine the contents to be listed simply aren't sharp enough. Take the recent McDonnell's issue - did they really lie or did they believe they were telling the truth. After all the gluten was not obvious being that it was in a flavoring that was grain based alcohol...

ARCHIVED Parasite - Comprehensive Parasitology Testing
Claire replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Great Smokie Diagnostic Lab is highly regarded and used by many NDs and Nutritionists. Manu years ago my aunt who was woefully thin was told by her doctor to drink half ginger and half pure cream at least once or more each day. She gained weight - not a rapid gain but slow and steady. Claire -

Many people like me who have neurological damage develop swallowing problems. So far I have only the ataxia and hopefully being gluten-free will stop further progression of the problem. I will hunt up some articles that I have on the subject. Claire

ARCHIVED The Pros And Cons Of The Food Intolerance Testing
Claire replied to Claire's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Recommended by NDs and Chiropractor/Nutritionists and, of course, their clients/ I once had a writeup on them from a Health Magazine but couldn't put my hand on that now. I had 30 foods on my list the first time I tested. Some I knew to be accurate the moment I saw them. Yes you do an elimination process but you have a place to start - in many cases... -

ARCHIVED What Is The Problem With Bob's Red Mill?
Claire replied to junieb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Flaxseed can be 'deadly' for those who do not tolerate it well. I am one of those. Even a little bit of it and I can take up bathroom residence. Claire -
I may be getting repetious but I sincerely believe gluten is not always to blame. Most celiacs and thousands of non-celiacs have food intolerance issues they do not recognize. If a person is celiac the first thought when disaster strikes is Gluten. I may well be but it could be dozens of other things given the amount of unknowns - ie - cooking oils, spray...

ARCHIVED Bonefish Grill / G/f Bread Basket
Claire replied to killernj13's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I also have nejoyed Bonefish Grill. They are owned by the same company that owns Outback and Carrabas. I did not like Carrabas as well - thought the menu was too limited. Claire -
ARCHIVED What Unusual Concoctions Do You Enjoy?
Claire replied to jaten's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I was born in Canada, migrated to New England and now live in Pennsylvania. I like okra. I find the trick is not to overcook it so it gets mushy. Herre we can sometimes find it frozen - that's much better than canned. Claire -
Thanks you. Where do you live? I never heard that term before. Claire

I am posting here a comment found on a website. It is an opinion, therefore subjective but I feel is is generally right on. I have used Immuno Labs three times and was more than pleased with them. Immuno LabsL Open Original Shared Link I think the 3-4 days betwween 'trials' here is way off. You need a week or more after a 'positive. " The ironic...

Nothiing but praise for Outback. I think we should not always asssume that a reaction is gluten. If you have even one food intolerance that can be the answer. Likewise food additives, chemicals in the sprays used for grills - etc. etc. Eating out is always at your own risk - whether gluten is the issue or any one of the many reactive foods and additives...

I am not familiar with this test but certainly am well acquainted with food sensitivity testing. Be aware that as good as these tests can be, they produce a lot of false positives. Where you have been given so many 'reactives' you need to pick out the ones that you are quite sure don't bother you and put them to the test. Remove from the diet for at least...

Having dealt with food intolerances for a very long time I can tell you that doing a thorough elimination diet takes a world of patience and a lot of time. One thing is very important. Do not eat a lot of one food the way you are doing. I did that and very soon became totally intolerant of the food that I was eating so frequently. Variety. Don't eat today...

ARCHIVED What Unusual Concoctions Do You Enjoy?
Claire replied to jaten's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
That sounds very familiar. I orginally came from Nova Scotia and a lot of the Newfie food was there as well. I have Newfoundland relatives who now live here in the US and many 'one pot' meals came with them. Claire In gluten-free days: apple pie topped with mustard pickles. Could still do this with a gluten-free pie. Cream of Buckwheat... -
This is generally a good article. I do disagree with the statement "damage done by osteoporosis can be reversed in such patients," Once bone is lost getting it back is no small task. Take it from one who knows. Calcium, ipiflavones, etc. don't do much and even the highly touted meds do only a little good over a long period and they are risky. Also the...
