  1. So, I've been doing searches all week but I can't find any reasonable responses. So I thought I would reach out to the forum. I've been diagnosed with celiac disease for 2 years. And I'm pretty legit at controlling it. My numbers have all normalized and I don't really have too many issues. With the exception of nerve issues from time to time in my arms and...
  2. What do you guys think about this new test/study in the world of alcohol? Open Original Shared Link I've read through it and it seems kind of promising. Especially for homebrews. Thanks, Jesse
  3. I think I am developing thyroid problems but I was wondering if anyone could relate to this story and how I should present it to my doc. He's a pretty nice guy but sometimes I feel like he thinks I am making up a lot of my symptoms. For the past few weeks my hands and feet have been getting really cold. Then my pulse slowed down. Resting is now between...
  4. I agree. I eat Portias at least once a week. Everything is gluten free and vegan so you don't have to worry about ordering off the menu. . I also enjoy the Papaya Fusion Grill. The owner, Burt, is a super nice guy and goes the extra mile when it comes to allergens. The menu is kind of limited for celiacs but I feel safe there. I've literally been there...
  5. So my doctor switched up my medication and I'm now taking Rabeprazole from TEVA. The pharmacist did not know the gluten-free status so I tried to call the company and their hours are 8 to 5. Of course, I will call them tomorrow but I wanted to take a dose before 8 AM tomorrow to get this acid business under control. Does anyone take this or know its status...
  6. Yeah, I've been raging pretty hard over these "scientific" social media ads lambasting the gluten free lifestyle (regardless of the reason). Who cares? It's no ones business and it's certainly not hurting anyone other than the person partaking in the diet. (which is isn't). Oh, you don't like to hear someone talking about gluten free? It's annoying to...
  7. I had a nightmare I went out to a bar and had a grilled cheese with a lot of beer the other night. I woke up in a panic anticipating the symptoms. It happens to the best of us. Especially when it's on our mind all the time.
  8. Both my dog and cat are grain free. My other cat is also grain free but having some issues with his diet, so that's just something that needs to be worked out. Pets need the right foods just like humans. You'll be fine. It's going to be rough at first, especially with kids, but you'll figure out a routine that works for you. I went militant my first year...
  9. Phew. I'm visiting relatives and have been sooooo good. Figured a treat was in order.
  10. Anyone know if this herseys xl almond bar is gluten free? Their site says just the 1.5 oz but no word on xl? The ingredients on the bar look okay.
  11. Yup, although I credit vegetarianism for actually helping me diagnose Celiac disease. Back when I was fat and happy I didn't give diet much of a thought. Then when I went vegetarian/vegan for a slight period of time - all the increased wheat products really kicked my behind. That's when I decided to go to the doctor and receive the dreaded diagnosis. ...
  12. I think it might be from the incessant burping/belching. It's definitely annoying. but I'll look into those issues. I don't eat much dairy at all, but a bit here and there. That would also be annoying. Thanks for replying and take care!
  13. I was hoping someone on this board might be able to relate and point me in the proper direction. Over the past few months I have had a strange sensation on the left side of my neck. Sometimes it' s near the base of the neck and sometimes near the jawline? I am thinking maybe a muscle. I went to the doctor for this and he recommended a specialist. My...
  14. Yup, I take Tylenol with no problems. It was on the gluten free list of medications last time I checked. Always check the labels though
  15. About a year ago my doctor told me that my TTG IGA score was 700. However, I haven't seen anyone else with that high a number floating around here. Is that even possible or was he exaggerating? (I was never released this test. I didn't even think to ask for it) I then dropped to 45 after going gluten free. (I now keep my tests on record). Now I...
  16. What would be the safest thing to eat here?
  17. I went to Logan's Steakhouse with family last weekend. I didn't eat anything (of course) but I still like to go out. The waitress asked me why I wasn't eating. I told her I have Celiac and I was worried about contamination. She laughed at me and said. "I'm a bio major. I know that gluten isn't a contaminant." This is why I don't eat at many restaurants.
  18. I'm half and half on corn. I can't eat whole kernels but I can eat processed corn with no major problems. Hopefully it all evens itself out in the end. but I've found with a little creativity the options are endless. Make a spreadsheet of everything you can have and then do a little googling on recipes with those ingredients. Substitute and have a little...
  19. I was bloated quite a bit by cauliflower right after I went gluten free. I had a whole bunch of it and it put me in the ER with what I thought were really bad chest pains at the time. I can tolerate it a little bit better now. I eat broccoli like it's going out of style. We're all different. It might be something other than the B & C also. I had a glass...
  20. Bring your own. Donatos and against the grain are pretty good store bought pizzas. I like ATG better when cold.
  21. Thank's Colleen. It normally does.
  22. I got my latest test score back... T-Transglutaminase IGA AB score: 15. So I'm trending in the right direction and that makes me happy. Off the charts to 45 to 15 in 6 months on a gluten free diet. Let's hope some of these symptoms lift in a few more months! Take care Celiacs! Jesse
  23. karen is right. When I first went gluten free I went out and bought all kinds of gluten free products and my symptoms didn't subside. However as I started eating more natural food things started to get a little better. It still took a little while to heal and I'm not completely 100 percent but I definitely feel a lot better. It's really hard to track down...
  24. I'm an avid Columbus Blue Jackets fan and it has been tradition for 8 years now to have what we call a "stinger doughnut" before the opening game. This is basically just a tim horton's plain doughnut with green frosting and blue sprinkles. Nothing special. Well, 8 years until CELIAC decided to be like Walter White and come knocking. I was pretty bummed about...
  25. It was the blonde ale. Which surprising wasn't too bad! Everyone has always told me awful things about new planet. It'll be nice to be able to get back to enjoying the occasional one and watching a hockey game with friends. I actually have a raspberry one in my fridge. It's been sitting there for 7 months. I bought some earlier on in my diagnosis but...
