ARCHIVED Night Terrors/fear/paraoid
Nantzie replied to tiffjake's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I find that when I'm glutened, I get obsessive, negative thoughts. I'll just start thinking about everything that's going wrong in my life, has gone wrong in the past or may go wrong in the future. It's constant racing thoughts, and I'm really mean and negative to myself in my thoughts. I used to say one of the reasons I hated doing anything that... -
ARCHIVED A Couple Questions
Nantzie replied to Clark Bent as Stupor-Man's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I do Threelac for 30 days. One box has 60 packets, so two packets a day. It totally clears it up for months for me. I usually am symptom-free by day 5. It does come back every once in a while for me. But we're talking once or twice a year. I'm pretty sure that's because I'm really lazy about taking probiotics like you're supposed to to encoourage... -

ARCHIVED Beano Commercial Mentions Whole Grain Breads
Nantzie replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know if Beano has gluten in it. Wouldn't surprise me because I remember taking Gas-X several times, which always made things worse. Once I found out about celiac, and Gas-X has gluten in it, it all made sense. Geez... Those are all such great / horrifying commercials. Makes you want to go down to the grocery store and stick pamphlets about... -
Ooooo... That sounds sooooo goooood... I'll definitely do that. Nancy

ARCHIVED Anyone Heard Of Hlc Mindlinx By Pharmax?
Nantzie replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oooo... That sounds very interesting. Let us know how it works. I've always been into alternative medicine, so I might give it a shot after hearing how you do with it. I'm not looking to actually EAT gluten. But, it would be nice to just do things like use my favorite pre-celiac conditioner that has wheat in it without having to wash my hands... -
ARCHIVED Beano Commercial Mentions Whole Grain Breads
Nantzie posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just saw a beano commercial. Lady A saw the beano on the table, and asked Lady B about it. Lady B said, I just keep it out so I remember to take it with the first bite. Lady A says, You must eat a lot of beans huh? Lady B says something like, No it works with everything. EVEN WHOLE GRAIN BREAD. ACK!!! All the undiagnosed celiacs... -

I'm a big fan of Threelac. That stuff works without any detox symptoms, as far as my experience, as well as that of my husband, and a couple of our friends. I don't restrict my diet when I'm on it at all, and it works great. The first doctor who ever mentioned candida to me used Thorne supplements and I took SF722. He had me on so many other things... -
I'm so glad you're feeling like you're getting better. I'd never heard of Epsom Salts for back pain. I'm gonna have to get a 20 lb sack of that myself. LOL! Epsom Salts were just always one of those things in an old box that I would see in my grandparents bathroom. I never knew what it was for. We all learn somethin' new every day huh? Nancy

ARCHIVED Article On The Brain/gut Connection
Nantzie replied to Nantzie's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm glad you guys found it as interesting as I did. I actually found the doctor's email address at Columbia and gave him a short description of how much celiacs deal with psychological symptoms and how his research may provide some answers. I think that celiac researchers are focused so much on the damage it does to the intestines, that they may not be... -

ARCHIVED Help, Please. Cooking For A Celiac Relative
Nantzie replied to lavenderhoney's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
What a great SIL you are. She's very lucky to have you. ((Hugs)) There is a mix called Pamela's Ultimate Baking and Pancake Mix. It makes great pancakes! La Choy soy sauce is gluten free. I've heard San-J is much better, but if you can't find it, La Choy works. The main thing that gets celiacs sick when eating in other people's houses, even... -
Tiffany! I was hoping you'd see this. That's what I was wondering; if antibiotics deal with yeast. Yep, must have been some sort of low-level infection of some sort. Although the placebo effect wouldn't bother me in the least either. Sometimes that just happens too. I was thinking my low energy was situational depression due to some really...

Ya know, I read a similar article regarding the same researcher maybe 6-7 years ago and didn't keep a copy of it. When I was discussing my symptoms with my very nice, interested GI doctor, he said that my psych symptoms because of intolerance to gluten made a lot of sense because the digestive system is the biggest nervous system outside the brain. ...

My energy level has been horrible for about three months or so. The strep has only been for a few days. Even if you factor in how long it takes from exposure to symptoms, that's still only a week. So it's not that the strep was when the energy level dropped. It's kind of sad that my energy was so low from whatever that I didn't even notice a dip...

ARCHIVED Fat Intolerance

I always heard that trouble digesting fats can be a sign of gallbladder problems. You guys might want to bring it up with your doctors to see if that's an issue. Nancy -
ARCHIVED Confused?
Nantzie replied to melhopkins02's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I haven't heard this. I drink WAY too much soda, and never have a problem with the high fructose corn syrup in it. I know for sure it isn't healthy, but other than that I think it's okay...? -
I ended up getting strep throat, so they put me on Amoxicillin. Not only did my sore throat go away, which I had had for 3-4 days, but my energy level is great. I feel just as good as I did right after going gluten-free. I had been having problems with my energy level a lot, not wanting to do anything, just blah and getting worse, for a few months...

Yea, with your family, I wouldn't trust them further than I could throw a gluten-free donut. Plus with all the touching of food that's done when a non-gluten-free person is preparing food for a big get-together... Nobody thinks to wash their hands before handling gluten-free food so you won't get cross contaminated. I always bring my own...

ARCHIVED She Just Does Not Want To Eat ...
Nantzie replied to manja's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I agree with what everyone says. I do want to add that I've been going through an absence of appetite myself lately, so I've got an adult perspective on it that I've never had before. I've got a 2yo and a 4yo, and I've had trouble getting them to eat a variety of things, or even very much. I never understood how they could not be hungry. But then, after... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawel
Nantzie replied to DrMom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had my pain just disappear after years too. Mind-boggling isn't it? As far as the headaches go, have you been eating more of something in place of the gluten? It's common to have other foods that don't sit right with you. Sometimes it's just part of the healing process. Your body also becomes more sensitive to gluten after you've been off of it... -
ARCHIVED Best gluten-free Baking Flour Mix
Nantzie replied to emcmaster's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
For things like pancakes and cookies, I like Pamela's Baking Mix. It's got almond meal in it which gives a really nice flavor. For gravy, I like Bob's Red Mill gluten-free Flour. You use it the same way you would flour. It tastes just the same as regular to me. I use it with butter to make a roux just like you would to start a regular gravy. ... -
I agree, definitely go to the doctor asap THIS WEEK. The discoloration must have been scary. I too remember hearing that gall bladder pain will hit you in the back right between the shoulder blades and you can have a real hard time breathing. I don't know about the discoloration though. I can't remember hearing anything about that. I see that you...

ARCHIVED I Can't Sleep!
Nantzie replied to lightningfoot speakin words's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
When I'm glutened, it's a horrible experience trying to fall asleep. My thoughts go out of control and I start obsessing about just about every negative thing that's ever happened to me. My thoughts race out of control to the point where I feel like my brain is almost vibrating. Just trying to lay in bed with my eyes closed and waiting to fall asleep just...
