  1. I just looked at the topic, and it sounds like you're more used to chats than message boards, so I can see how you'd be a little offended when nobody acknowledged your post. Message boards are a whole 'nother thing. This next bit everybody might find boring, but I think it's really cool. Message boards are really interesting because they're kind...
  2. Another vote for Ener-G crackers. I bought a case too.
  3. I agree. I would bet money that there was gluten of some sort in the pre-seasoned meat. There's always the possibility that his stomach is still in the healing stage and is just sensitive. He could always try it with just some plain steak and see if he has the same reaction?
  4. Congratulations!!!!
  5. You insist on a certain quality of toilet paper like other people insist on a certain thread count of sheets.
  6. Yep, could be the flu or a virus. There are a few really miserable strains going around this year. If you eat any mainstream processed foods, you may want to read the ingredients because sometimes they change their recipe and add gluten for one reason or another. It could be cross contamination at home too. There's a zillion ways that can happen...
  7. For the last couple days I've been trying to reply to some PM's and whenever I hit the reply button I get an error page -- ................. The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. ...............
  8. I'm so glad some of your kids are feeling better. Your daughter's blue lips worries me. What has her doctor said about that? It sounds like it may be a symptom of something more related to blood circulation or the lungs maybe? I think I've heard that sometimes it's a symptoms of anemia. Has she been tested for anemia lately?
  9. I don't know how many of you have a Winco Foods that you go to (it's only in a few western states), but when I was at Winco last night for the first time in a couple years, we were on the cereal aisle, and I looked over and right above where they have the Power Bars and stuff, there were two lilttle shelves with GLUTEN FREE products!!! I was SO EXCITED...
  10. During my first pregnancy, the baby barely moved. MAYBE once or twice a day. It was so nerve-wracking. (Now, at 3-1/2, she's like a little whirling dervish. ) I ended up renting a fetal doppler from a company. It's just the little gadget they use to listen to the baby's heartbeat. It was great because if I was ever worried, I could just find...
  11. I've got all sorts of mental health issues on both sides of my family too; depression, anxiety, bipolar, paranoia, schizophrenia... Have you maybe thought about everyone in your family at least trying the gluten-free diet for a while to see if it helps? My symptoms of being glutened are almost all psychological and neurological. Depression, anxiety...
  12. Because if you touch your hair or face without thinking about it, it will get on your hands and you may ingest it. Just think about how many times a day you tuck your hair behind your ears or scratch your nose or rub your eyes. Until you think about it, you don't realize how much you do that during the course of a day. Also, when you wash your hair...
  13. floridanative, As far as having something to print out for relatives to read, the one I like to reference when wanting to explain everything, but not overwhelm is Open Original Shared Link . It got a pretty good explanation in everyday language. It's also from the National Institutes of Health, which is part of the federal government, so who can argue...
  14. Wow! That's wonderful! I'm so sorry you've gone through that. But people are really starting to "get it" out in the real world. Nancy
  15. You might want to let her know that you can have depression without actually feeling like you're "depressed" emotionally. There are physical aspects to depression, even without celiac disease. Being tired, losing your appetite and just being disinterested in things can be aspects of depression even if you're perfectly happy and nothing is wrong. Depression...
  16. I've been thinking about seeing an allergist for food allergy testing, but from what you say it sounds like a major waste of money and time. To go through all of that and end up with more questions than answers sounds so aggravating. Nancy
  17. How FUN!!! I hope you have a great, relaxing, gluten-free time! Nancy
  18. You might want to talk to a lactation consultant, because as long as you are still breastfeeding you should be able to increase your breastmilk supply. What happens in many cases is when a baby starts needing more milk than you're producing (usually because they're going through a growth spurt) is that you'll go through a period of time where it seems like...
  19. Okay, got curious and started looking stuff up. I found some very interesting information -- This quote -- "Research suggests that bromelain may aid in protein digestion and modulate the immune response within the body (3,7)." Is from this article -- Open Original Shared Link On the right side it should so the points where...
  20. Do you have a wheat allergy or celiac? They're two different processes, so I'd have two different answers for your question. Also, how were you diagnosed -- western medicine (M.D.), alternative medicine, or self-diagnosis. There are a lot of people on this board who fall into each of those categories, so it's all good. I'm self-diagnosed, but jumping...
  21. Me. Yea... I've got issues. Nancy
  22. That's a good point Carrie. And to be honest, I know several people, including myself who have lactose intolerance and use Lactaid. But none of them use it regularly, but only when they have to. They have it just in case, but won't use it just so they can eat ice cream or whatever. It's more something they use so that if they go out to eat or to someone...
  23. I agree. Check your soy intake. For me, even though I have a lot of problems with gluten, and get stomach pain from it, my digestive reaction to SOY is much, much worse than my digestive reaction to gluten. At first I had no idea why I still had bathroom problems. I had figured out that I was sensitive to soy already, but I thought the only soy...
  24. I was looking at that too, and wondering the same thing. I was thinking that that would be good to have on vacations. Going to visit relatives, and having your food for the week be delivered so you don't have to worry about cross contamination or butting into someone else's kitchen would be great. I'm thinking about trying it at some point at least...
  25. That's wonderful!!! Nancy
