ARCHIVED Ted's Montana Grill, Carrabbas, Etc.
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to glutenfreeheather's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Ditto with Jen on Chang's -- though it is best to go there when they are not busy as I worry about the items getting confused, them using the wrong soy sauce, bringing the wrong plate, etc...(I order the Chang's chicken, steamed cucumbers and white rice) Carrabbas is great -- I love the pollo rosa maria (stuffed chicken entree), the sauteed spinach, mashed... -
The last time I knowingly cheated was in 1998 I was at a party at OSU and I thought it would be a good idea to enter a "shotgun" race with my buddy (this entails cutting a can of beer open with a knife, placing your mouth over the newly cut hole and then opening the tab on the beer (which then flushes all of the beer down your belly)... Good times...

I don't understand the rationale of cheating Cheating = Stomach Pains, Diarrhea, Loss of Energy, DH, etc One bite of something could never tempt me to cheat (on purpose) Its all willpower...

ARCHIVED La Jolla (san Diego)
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to Nantzie's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I would not eat the taquitos at Rubios' -- I have never heard them say they use dedicated fryers. Those suckers would be covered in gluten-laden oil.... While you are in SD, check out Donovan's steakhouse -- they do an incredible job and have several gluten-free items. Fleming's in La Jolla is also really good (the flemings potatoes are incredible... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Breadbasket (order Online)
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Someday, one of these places will open up on the West Coast (or Nevada)... Sounds like an idea I need to jump on... Actually, I have an ambition to make the first gluten free "saltine" -- lord knows we need it -- I was thinking of ordering the Crumb Cake and the Coffee Cake from this place -- it has been too long since I have had those things (oh... -

We do sell to most major food ditributors, however. Please contact us and we will help you find our product. How can I get more information? Email us now at mrsleepers@aipc.com, telephone us at... -
Open Original Shared Link The blurb on allergies is interesting -- although I am sure there is a ways to go until gluten can be registered/measured by this technology, it could be available in the near future.

ARCHIVED Email From Cracker Barrel
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to glutenfreeheather's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I Canary, Did you ask them if they were baked or fried in dedicated fryers? They may be just reading the ingredient labels and then telling you the fries "seem" ok. Have you asked about cross-contamination with the fryers directly? Sorry to pry, but I am concerned about what they are checking... -
ARCHIVED Email From Cracker Barrel
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to glutenfreeheather's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Do they bake their Steak Fries?? I don't see how those fries can be ok -- they do not have dedicated fryers at Cracker Barrel -- I would double check that. The only thing I have had there was a cheese omlette and some bacon/sausage...and I still felt a little bad... -
ARCHIVED Mrs. Leeper's/ Corn Rotelli
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to skurtz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mrs. Leepers does make a decent beef strogonoff, chicken alfredo, cheeseburger macaroni and tuna alfredo -- they are the only gluten-free company I have seen that sells these mixes.. -
ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
Lawsuit = Less Places for us to eat Its pretty simple... Owners of restaurants will run for the hills rather than provide a gluten-free menu if they think they will be sued. This lawsuit does nothing for our cause....absolutely nothing In theory, it may make people accountable, but in reality all it does is prevent restaurants from offering... -
ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
As an attorney, I refuse to support a frivolous case. What is more important? That one family might get rich from McDonalds or that 1 million people might lose chances to eat out at "gluten-free-friendly" restaurants because other restaurant owners are scared of being sued?? Pretty simple choice to me... Think of others?? Tell the family to think of... -
ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
Gluten is a protein in wheat, barley, rye. It is an actual tangible object. Through various processes (distillation, extraction, etc) gluten can be removed from a wheat substance. I drink Ketel One Vodka every once in awhile, but is made from wheat/grains -- through the distillation process, the gluten is removed. Tarnalberry or Richard may be able... -
ARCHIVED New Mcd Statement -- Fries Are gluten-free
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to lovegrov's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
The only thing a lawsuit will do will make it difficult for any of us to eat out at other restaurants. Think about it, if you were the owner of a restaurant and you saw these lawsuits, what would you do? I would say "forget about it" and not try to accomodate anyone -- why risk being sued? Also, I think people should hesitate before using the term ... -

ARCHIVED Distilled Liquors?
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to bozco's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Technically, the distillation process removes all of the gluten (or should) If you are sensitive, you may still react to it... If it helps, Smirnoff is distilled from Corn....always a safe bet (unless you have a corn allergy too) -
