  1. I only cook the lasagna briefly (enough to ensure it is no rock hard) Layer your meat, sauces, cheese, spices (I usually hand mix all of them together and add an egg or two -- it keeps the lasagna together and is less messy)
  2. Its possible to be gluten intolerant and not have Celiac disease...Think of it this way, everyone who has celiac disease is gluten intolerant, but not everyone who is gluten intolerant has celiac disease... Hope that helps...
  3. I love Salt and Vinegar and the Cheddar -- I hate the Ranch...to each his/her own....
  4. Grilled Fish Tacos (just like they make in San diego) Get some Halibut, Swordfish or Mahi Mahi -- Grill them with some lemon/lime/orange and salt and pepper Warm up some corn tortillas (or put them in a skillet with a little olive oil spray - don't cook too much -- just enough to let them still be "bendable" and a little crispy) Add cut up mangos...
  5. I take Dapsone (25 mg) once a day. When I get "glutened", I increase the dosage on my own. I get blood tessts 3-4 times a year. For the itchy skin, try some of Burt's Bees Wax lotion -- it helps me!I use the milk and honey lotion -- put it on after you shower. Also, I quit using bar soap -- dries me out too much -- I usually use Dove's moisturizing...
  6. If you've gotten to this point, its time to buy one of those Cuisinart bread machines (with gluten free settings) and make your own (I am at the same point - haha)
  7. LJ, Congrats on Penn State's victory!! that poor Freshman kicker -- thank goodness he got a chance to redeem himself the third time!!! The Big Ten started bad, but the top 3 teams all won their games (PSU, OSU and Wisconsin) -- Iowa got hosed on that onside kick... Go Big Ten (3-4 this year in the bowls-- blech!!)
  8. Hey everyone, During my recent trip to Tempe to watch my beloved Buckeyes beat Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, I was able to stop by Picazzo's and try their gluten free pizza. Let me tell you, it is great and it tastes like real pizza -- two of my friends even had the gluten-free version (they do not have celiac disease) and they loved it!! Our waiter...
  9. I know they also serve onion rings, so I don't think they have dedicated fryers... As long as the meat is 100% beef, you should be fine (assuming they don't put the buns on the grill) -- I would be careful about condomints also -- some fatburgers swipe the ladel into the condomints (mayo) and swipe it onto the bread and then place the ladle back in the...
  10. Scottish, Irish, English, German
  11. "I was frustrated that the two dozen muffins I had made that I could eat (and I don't bake often, and had never gotten these particular muffins to turn out well enough that my husband would eat them), were gone that quickly - with one person eating so many at once. I usually pride myself on making food that anyone and everyone can share, and for once, felt...
  12. I don't know if you have celiac disease or not, but I was almost identical in symptoms (pre-diagnosis)
  13. Not Penn St, LauraJ, 100% Buckeye here --- but I will root for PSU in the bowl game !! GO BIG TEN!!
  14. Lisa, Are you referring to gluten free waffles? I have never seen "Wheat-free Eggo's" before -- and even then, are they gluten free> Also, when dealing with Peanut butter, jellly, really any jarred condomint, you have to have one that is "gluten free" and one that is not (knife contamination from spreading on the bread) Just trying to help...
  15. Famous Dave's BBQ Spice and Sauce has gluten in both. I remember my firm had a lunch there and I had to get a burger (no seasoning/no bun) and fruit/salad on the side.
  16. I also had the Lakefront Beer this weekend-- it was pretty smooth, decent body and a little nutty -- better than Bards Beer in my opinion!!
  17. Carolyn, I agree -- and Carrot Juice works as well!! If you can "juice" your own, mix in granny smith apples and some grated ginger (not much) Bronco
  18. One thing to remember, Her body will have a harder time digesting processed and canned foods. She needs fresh produce, brown rice, fruits, unsalted nuts, and water. Sometimes it takes people 3-6 months before the "D" goes away -- her body needs time to heal!!! Hope this helps,
  19. Feel free to call their Butcher Dept at the store -- talk to the Manager/Supervisor Then work yourself up the chain if they don't know... Unless something is marinated or breaded or battered, meats/fish are pretty much gluten-free... I eat Steak/hamburger and Grill Fish all the time...
  20. Ok, I think this is a case where I thought that sake may have gluten due to the addition of grain alcohol to the content. However, after looking at this article, it appears, it is distilled alcohol (which is technically gluten-free ------ though some people may be sensitive to it) so, it appears Sake is ok !! Sorry for the confusion. Here is the article...
  21. I make "Bronco's Mexican Suprise" Instead of Corn Tortillas, use Fritos or Tortilla Chips Then alternate layers of ground beef, beans, cheese, salsa Yum Yum!!
  22. Which Food for Life product did you buy? White Rice Brown Rice Millet Almond?
  23. Chestnut, You will also find that most of the people onthis board know more about what foods you can have and what you can't versus some doctor. Most doctors have only seen celiac disease in a textbook or two (usually back in Med School) -- they can treat problems, sypmtoms and pains, but they can't help you with your diet (on a day to day basis). ...
  24. Bring your own food to these functions... No one will be as vigilent about it as you will be... Don't let people peer pressure you into hurting yourself -- talk about self-destructive behavior!! Hope this holiday season goes better for ya!!
  25. Diagnosed at 22, but I remember having symptoms for 2-4 years before that...
