However, Honey Baked Hams HAVE GLUTEN IN THEM, THOUGH...I was crushed for a day or two when I found that out...I got over it when I figured I could make my own honey glaze and it tastes the same... AVOID HONEY BAKED HAMS!!! I do like Hormel's Cure 51 Label Hams -- they're very yummy!!!!! -

I thought Butterball turkeys were gluten-free (you have to throw away the gravy packet) From CLan Thompson's site: Butterball Turkeys: frozen: Manufactured by Butterball Turkeys. Gluten free: Yes. Vegetarian: No. Verified: 11/18/04. Comments: No gluten present in the basting material, but don't use the gravy packet. -

I think most dieticians do not know the minutia of Celiac Disease. They can pretty much tell you what is in many gluten free books' intro chapter, but beyond that, they are of little help. Unless you find a dietician that has celiac disease (what a good career choice for someone!!), you are better off reading, researching and becoming a well-informed...

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to GlutenGirl144's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Green bean casserole.....I have had my frustrations with this dish... Can anyone help out here? I think this year I am going to try "canned green beans" -- in the past, I used frsh green beans that I boiled for 10 minutes, but the consistency never came out like "grandma's" I added the Progresso Soup and baked it for like an hour -- the "casserole... -

VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to Skijoe's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Joe, If you have symptoms (like me) then you have to weigh the pros and cons...Is it worth a day or two on the toilet with stomach aches, pain, dizziness and a general sense of malaize for 4-5 days... Do I trade that in for a 15 gratification of pasta???? Personally, I say no If you have no symptoms, this is a tougher question. Those folks don... -

Smunkeemom- thanks for the recipe - I have a similar one -- I just hate the preparation/cooking/clean-up/etc of making Fried Chicken. I'd love to be able to go down the street and pick up a "bucket" of the Colonel's Recipe and go to town without cleaning anything besides my fingers/face Rachel, Bards Beer is a very tasty gluten free beer. ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Turkey
VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to ruddabega's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ruddebega, You can have a great Thanksgiving, but you will need to prepare. In previous years, I used to make my stuff the day before and just "nuke" everything when everbod else ate (i know it stinks, but is safe). Nowadays, I just buy a "turkey breast" or "drumstick" and cook it myself. I also make my own mashed potatoes, my own stuffing and buy... -

Distilled Alcohols (vodka, gin, scotch, etc) do not contain gluten. However, some people are more sensitive to the fact they are wheat/grain based than other people. It depends on your sensitivity. VegasCeliacBuckeye replied to tiredofdoctors's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Don't be so hard on yourself.... We all have our bad days -- nobody's perfect. My friends tell me all the time that they are amazed how I can control the diet and how I can order so confidently at restaurants (this is primarily due to being a waiter/bartender/cook for 10 years before I got my law degree). Anyway, a few weeks ago, I was at Z Tejas...
