  1. I'm fairly confident that if the tTG IgA is positive that the biopsies will be also. What you describe is something they can see where a patient has a sever reaction (even for Celiacs) to gluten. I didn't have nodules but was never the less the biopsies showed celiac. Nothing is 100% bit that tTG IgA is pretty darn accurate and given the nodules it is...
  2. I was just lucky to have good Drs. who listened really well to what I was telling them, knew very well about Celiac and how to DX it. Anyone in the Twin Cities are of MN that is having possible Celiac issues would get my recommendation of going to Minnesota Gastreoenterology Group, they have several GI specialists and locations in the Twin Cities Metro...
  3. Yeah, it wasn't even 24hrs before the results were back. That's about as fast as it gets. Not to mention instead of taking years to figure out it "only" took about 4 months. The GI group I go to has a PA that is a specialist in Celiac so I have an appointment with him coming up and he will likely monitor the situation.
  4. Thanks for the welcomes. This is the coolest uncool club that I never wanted to be a part of......
  5. Just and FYI, got my biopsies back this afternoon and I have Celiac. So, like people said, positive is positive. Mine was classified as "weak" positive and I most definitely had Celiac per the biopsy.
  6. Well, I wasn't expecting to get the results the next day but I it is official, I have Celiac Disease. I'm strangely happy about that, at least now I know what it is and it's not something worse. Colon biopsy negative so everything good there. Feels good to have a direction after 6 months of chronic pain and not feeling well. Good thing we figured...
  7. From what I read the test is like a pregancy test, positive or negative. You are producing antibodies that you shouldn't be at all, so that indicates something is going wrong. However, small number of people with a weak positive result will have another autoimmune disease that might cause a false positive but that is a pretty small number. My test results...
  8. Hard to give you a solid answer. GI issues are very hard to figure out at times. All of the things you say she is experiencing can be celiac but they can also be Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or any number of other issues.
  9. Well, had the colonscopy and EGD with biopsies done yesterday. Went pretty well, wasn't as bad as I thought. The GI doc says I probably don't have Crohn's which is good. Colonoscpy was negative for pretty much anything of cocern. EGD noted some reflux which I have had in the past but otherwise on visual looked fine. Just waiting for biopsies to come...
  10. Genetic testing is pretty much useless so there's not much to learn from it. Probably need to do all the Celiac antibody tests.
  11. Colonoscopy is generally done in patients who are suspected celiacs for a couple of reasons: #1- to rule out Crohn's or other colon diseases. #2- There is a higher incidence of colon cancer in celiacs Colonoscopy does not diagnose celiac, it only rules out other conditions. An upper endoscopy is what should be done to confirm it but if you've been...
  12. Well, only a few days until I have the colonscopy/EGD with biopsy. I never would have expected to be excited to get a colonoscopy/EGD done but I just want to know what's wrong and get it fixed. Knees continue to kill me lately, now headaches. Hopefully this will be all over soon, because it seems to be getting worse.
  13. My joints have been killing me the last couple weeks, particularly my knees. Can hardly make up stairs these days. Two weeks until my biopsy.
  14. Yeah, it can be anything from bleeding, malabsorption, bone marrow dysfunction (various causes), chemical poisoning........ect
  15. I think that the problem is that non-Celiac intolerance or sensitivity are poorly understood at this point. The common belief seems to be that if you don't have Celiac, gluten probably isn't going to cause damage to the intestines which in turn causes issues with malabsortpion of nutrients which causes anemia. So, I think at this time if they say you...
  16. Hard to say for sure. What sort of testing did you have? Did you have an ultrasoud, CT...ect? The reason why I ask is because there are a lot of different things that can cause abdominal pain. Sometimes the issue is on the right but you have pain on the left. Sometimes pain on the left can be colon issues, pancreatic issues or any number of other...
  17. Drs. are hunan, can make a mistake. I work in labs, been doing it for 12 years. In spite of what people think, many Drs. are not well versed in interpreting lab reports and that is complicated by the fact that no lab format reports the same, use the same units of measure, and they all use different equipment so ranges vary a lot. Some labs, like...
  18. I have not had to have this particular procedure done on my daughter (she's 6) but she's have several other's. When she was 8 months old she had to have a cranioplasty (Basically rebuild of the skull from the eye sockets up) because her plates fused too early. When she was about a year old she had tubes in her ears, then they came out so they went...
  19. I agree, DGP is probably the next test you really want done. Inflammation in the intestines can be caused by many things including Celiac, Crohn's and ulcerative colitis. My guess is that you may also need to have a colonoscopy to rule out those being a possible issue. .
  20. In most states a nurse practitiioner can write scripts for most meds on their own, without a Dr. Some states restrict narcotics/pain meds...ect to Drs. only. I don't doubt this happens though.
  21. Well, might be the internet. Sometimes online communication doesn't go over well, between the poster and reader malfunction on one or both sides. I think we may have been talking past each other and that may have been the issue. If you mean no offense, I accept that and apologize if I offended you.
  22. That's what I thought, but she seems to think I'm saying something else.
  23. Quite honestly, the snottyness was dripping in the post and I picked that up. I'm all for a conversation but you seem to be making it out that I'm against chiropractors when it is quite obvious in my posts that I'm not. Maybe what I picked up from your post wasn't you having an attitude but that's the way it came off to me. I really don't know what your...
  24. OK, not sure why the attack here. Seriously, it's a little over thet top. Now, like I said, I don't agree that judging any group as a whole based on the actions of a few is right to do but anyone who pays any attention to what goes on in the world knows there are a lot of people who do just that. Eitherway, my intent isn't to make chiropractors...
  25. No, not just for this alone. There are a lot of people already suspicious of chiropractors because of some of the things that some of them claim they can treat. The small number of celiacs a chiropractor would encounter is probably not going to make much difference. I'm just saying it's another thing for people be suspicious of. There is a reason why...
