ARCHIVED Do You Find You Miss Food You Barely Even Ate?
Rusla replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The thing I miss at this time of year is Thumbprint cookies and shortbread cookies. They were my favorites, but I will live without them. -
No problem. I talked to Adventures in Scuba here they are a 5 star PADI here. They suggested if I don't get a wet suit to at least wear a t-shirt in the water. I am going to buy my own equipment prior to going except the wet suit. As I am losing weight since going gluten-free, I don't want to shrink out of it before I get there and then ending up with...

Thanks Codetalker, Well I did like snorkeling, even though the masks did not fit right, and I had half the ocean in my nose or mouth, I will just get my own. As I live in a place where half to 3/4 of the year is cold dry air and the rest of the time dry air, that alone is a killer for my asthma. I guess if the tanks were moist air it would not be so bad...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get Really Cold Feet And Hands?
Rusla replied to DonnaD's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Has your husband had his thyroid antibodies checked? Just because the blood test comes back normal doesn't mean there is not something going on. I have been cold my whole life, hands and feet. My antibodies were 3.5 times the normal. After being on Synthroid I do not get cold like I did unless I forget to take my Synthroid. -
Breading food also locks in the moisture. But I do agree with why do we need wheat in everything. There is no way we need wheat in hair, skin, toothpaste and other such products. They have used wheat and gluten so much in everything that could be the cause of a great deal of people being Celiac or gluten intolerant. It is just like all the garbage...

ARCHIVED Oil Of Olay Products (in The Us)
Rusla replied to carriecraig's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To say a doctor told them using it externally won't hurt people with Celiac or gluten intolerant. They are either lying or have one of those many extremely stupid doctors. -
Thanks Tiffany, Advair was so bad for me that it put me in the hospital by giving me an asthma attack. I use Ventolin and Flovent. Usually I have good control over my asthmas except when the landlady moves in people who smoke below me. Then instead of smoking outside they smoke night and day below me. The Scuba center here has you fill out a medical...

ARCHIVED How To Make A Gfcf Pizza
Rusla replied to Felidae's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Use goat cheese. Make sure it has no casein in it, so do not pick the soft stuff in the tube. I get the goat cheddar. -
In early March I am going to Jamaica I wanted to take up diving so, that I could dive while I am there. I wished I had known how to dive when I was in Cuba and San Francisco last year. I would like to get some great underwater pictures while I am there, all the ones I missed when I was in Cuba. Now the question is I have asthma but it does not effect me...

A friend has invited me to go with her to Jamaica to her mothers wedding. As there will be plenty of fruits and vegetables that will be fine. However, I would like some advice on any restaurants in Runaway/Montego Bay areas if anyone has been to Jamaica.

I always was woken up in the middle of the night with leg cramps and having to go to the bathroom minimum every half hour. Now since I have been gluten-free for two weeks, I have not had leg cramps and I have maybe got up twice at the very most during the night to go to the bathroom.

ARCHIVED Anyone Newly Diagnosed Starving?
Rusla replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Actually since going gluten-free I am not hungry all the time, went off coke (the drink, not the drug) cold turkey and chocolate. Before I could sit down and eat a whole box of chocolates now one chocolate is just fine. I was always hungry before and even taking my synthroid I would not lose weight now, I have lost almost 15 lbs being gluten-free and I don... -
My last meal was a week long so that my DH could really shine out. So the very last one was Zorba the Greek Pizza from BP.

I use "reply" when I want to reply to a particular post in the many posts on a subject. Then, it also does not require everyone to scroll back to see what that person originally said. Other than that, I use the one at the very bottom.

I want to let all of the B.C. and Calgary people know that the Log Barn from Armstrong BC., which has ham sausage pepperoni, beef jerky, and honey mustard. Right now until Xmas they are in Zeller's Market mall, mall entrance and putting up one in Chinook tomorrow. Their food has no preservatives, fillers, msg, wheat or gluten. They will be posting signs to...

I had my gall bladder out in 1972 after my son was born, right after. My mother had hers out about 3 months later.

Cindy, We had our Yule party on Saturday and a restaurant,my work mates checked it out ahead of time for me to make sure they could do a gluten/wheat-free meal for me. It was a big success. I couldn't eat the desserts but when I looked at the pies, cakes, and cheese cake I knew I could make them gluten-free. So, I was happy because I have really not...

I know many will say you should not grieve over food and there are other things more important to grieve over. The thing is who are we to say who, how, what and why a person grieves. Each person has to handle things in their own way and do the best we can. It depends a lot on the frame of mind of the person grieving whatever they are grieving at that time...

It could also be Thyroid. Now, while I was on synthroid I did still have the odor. Now that I am also gluten-free and on Synthroid, I no longer have the odor.

ARCHIVED What Do You Think?
Rusla replied to menwall's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, many years ago I tested postive to wheat allergies. Then I tested positive to gluten intolerance, and even though the dermatologist didn't think it was, I tested positive for DH and Celiac. But then the Dermatologist was going by what everyone thinks a Celiac should look like. Many, many doctors don't have a clue and the blood test is not always accurate... -
ARCHIVED Glutenyzme Plus
Rusla replied to Guhlia's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am making the stuffing out of gluten-free bread this year and the gravy out of cornstarch. Why suffer when you don't have to suffer. -
ARCHIVED How Cool Is This?
Rusla replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well now everyone will want this, so they can be part of the "IN" crowd. Believe me, I didn't want years of agony to be part of this. -

I get Scott's newsletter also. I don't know where I would be and I certainly would not know nearly as much as I do now, if it wasn't for this web site put up by Scott. He is my life-saver.
