Did a quick search and found a few posts regarding Zelnorm. But I am hoping that someone can give me even more information. Do you feel like Zelnorm works for you? A good friend of mine (who also has Celiac) was just told by her doctor that she is not sure if Zelnorm is gluten-free or not. She told her to stop taking it for a bit. Sure enough, when we called...

ARCHIVED What Is The Best Pre-made Gluten Free Bread?
hlm34 replied to cdiane's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I actually really love the Food For Life Brown Rice bread. Its not totally the same as bread but I actually like it better as toast with butter. I find that its the easiest and fastest quick breakfast for me as i am running out the door for work. I have not tried it as a sandwich bread, but like it for toast. In fact, I might even eat it if I didnt have celiac... -
Hey guys! thanks for all the tips! i sure appreciate it. I have to admit that i am a bit overwhelmed with all there is to do out there so i will take all the personal recommendations (and warnings!) that i can get!! We are staying in Oahu (wakiki beach) for a few nights. My fiancee is a history buff and has always wanted to see Pearl Harbor. Then we are...

Does anyone know if any of the soups are gluten free at Corner Bakery?? I would kill for some soup for lunch today. I emailed them but have not gotten a response yet. Any help would be much appreciated.

so good. they are also dairy free and soy free and vegan, so if you have a very restricted diet they are great. I am gluten-free only, but still love them. ginger snap is my favorite.

i'm not broncobux - but i love Buffalo Wild Wings. I was told that the wedges and ranch are not gluten free. I was told that the potato "chips" are gluten-free though. Apparently, they season the wedges after they are fried but the chips are just plain sliced potatoes (no spice) that they either bake or fry (i cant remember which) and you can order them with...

ARCHIVED Think Thin Bar -so Good
hlm34 replied to hlm34's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
yeah - it describes itself as a "meal alternative nutrition bar". 20g of protein - and lots of vitamin A,C,E and folate as well as some of the other good stuff too. It was definitely a pick me up when i needed a little boost the other day. I never really have high expectations with these kind of bars - but i really liked this one! -

I know that people have mentioned these before - but I was at my Whole Foods stocking up on the Lara Bars (love the ginger snap) and noticed that there were some "Think Thin" bars in a bin above them. They have "gluten free" right on the wrapper. I'd never had them before so i grabbed a few! Sooooo good. I had the German Chocolate Coffee Cake. Yum. Really... -
ARCHIVED Enjoy Life Foods

I actually love the chewy snack bars. Like Becky said, i enjoy the very berry and the choco loco. They make a good snack on the run. They taste like nutri-grain bars to me. I dont know if you liked those before going gluten-free, but i used to really like them. The enjoy life bars are pretty close in my opinion. -
Hi there. I live in chicago and was recently diagnosed with celiac. I was referred to a GI doctor. My doctor's name was Karen Kim and she is at the University of Chicago (in Hyde Park). Great hospital - lots of doctors - wonderful reputation. Anyway, I was given a blood test and tested very high positive for Celiac. This was right away - I was lucky, i didnt...

ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
hlm34 replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I agree. I have never had noticeable symptoms with their fries. never had any sort of stomach problems. I am not super sensitive - but maybe that is why i am concerned the most. just because i dont notice any problems doesnt mean its not destroying my intestines. Gluten was apparently destroying my intestines for years and blocking calcium absorption- but... -

if you have a trader joe's near you - they have the enjoy life brown rice bread in their regular bread aisle. it sells for $3.50. the same enjoy life bread sells at whole foods in their freezer section for $4.99. I personally like this bread. it took a couple of days to get used to. but i have two slices toasted with butter everyday for breakfast. i was diagnosed... -

ARCHIVED Could I Be Anymore Pathetic
hlm34 replied to Firegirl43's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i definitely think that the place i notice my celiac the most is at work. There is always baked goods in the kitchen that someone brought in. Or there are plenty of times where we have meetings over the lunch hour where they order in pizza or something - and then you just sit and stare at that wonderful pizza and realize you can never have that again. Or... -
I agree that skipping fried foods is best, but sometimes its just not possible. I travel a lot for work. The other day i was in the airport and only had an hour to find food and was out of my snacks in my purse. It was 4pm and i hadnt eaten anything all day, and i was starving. i wanted something hot, mcdonalds fries were there and good and i didnt have any...

I used to work at mcdonalds corporate (a long time ago) and they are very very strict about their fries. Probably more that than anything else. They take great pains to make sure that the fries are only fried in clean grease. Regardless of if its a franchise or not, they are extremely uptight about it. I would say that the cross contamination might come from...
