  1. Thanks for the great advice. I have a treadmil at home, so that is why I was sticking with walking. I don't have a bike (or a decent gym in this podunk town) but I do have a pool in my apartment complex! And swimming is MUCH easier on my knees and back. I had knee surgery 5 years ago, and that corrected an hyper-extension problem in the right knee, that I...
  2. Ok, so I have read the last couple of pages of this thread, and maybe I will be jumping in and changing the subject, but I need help losing weight!!!! I have tried D@mn near everything, just short of gastric by-pass. I tried weight watchers, L A Weightloss (what a joke), pills, bla bla bla, and then went gluten free last year (and really got the hang of it...
  3. Ah! I am FROM Alabama! I lived in Birmingham! And I just got home from a trip there! If I would have seen this post I would have insisted we all get together for dinner! I had a hard time eating out while there because I wanted to go to "southern" places and eat BBQ and they thought I was nuts for not wanting bread! Anyway, hope you find a doc and a support...
  4. I have had wonderful experiences at MY Outback (but not so great at other Outback's) because they know me now and the manager makes my salad personally and gets everything fresh from the walk-in cooler so it hasn't been sitting on the line by the croutons and breads. They are really great. I have had good experiences at PF Changs, but not great. It is about...
  5. I tried it and was also dissapointed with the selections that were in the database, but I was pleased to find out that many of the items I was concerned about were ok, according to Gluten Guard. But like you, I wondered just what the large database contained since it seemed like half of what I tried to look up wasn't in the list.
  6. Ditto. I am eating M&Ms right now. And I love a snickers every now and then! And 3 Muskateers.

    ARCHIVED Pf Changs

I just want to add that I have had great experiences in Vegas, Birmingham, AL, and Austin, TX, PF Changs locations. I am always polite and stress very sensitive nature (not that you didn't). I havn't had any problems. I don't chance it will the "gluten-free soy sauce" because it looks just like the gluten-filled stuff, so I can't be sure the server didn...
  8. HAHAHA!!!!! Lets all go to their office with biology books and throw them at them when they leave for lunch, (ok, just kidding for those of you on here who take stuff like that seriously!)
  9. I am A+ and my hubby is 0-, and he refuses to give blood, and I bug him to death about it.....
  10. To the best of my pharmacy technician knowledge, all contact solutions have to be gluten-free because the solution has to be isotonic, meaning that it can pass through the membranes of the eye and not affect the blood pressure (meaning the saline solution has to be the same salt/water ratio at blood). Gluten molecules are too big to be isotonic, and are not...
  11. Both are gluten-free, but many, and I mean a whole lot, of people build an intolerance to neosporin and have to use something else, like bacitracin or polysporin. You may have a reaction (that looks like a rash) and have to use a different ointment.

    ARCHIVED Pf Changs

I had that happen as a sushi place in Vegas. Guess I made such a stick with the server that they sent ofer the HEAD CHEF and he explained that they put malt vinegar in the rice/water steamer to help soften the rice, and that made it not gluten-free. Just wanted to let you know incase you hear this again somewhere!!!!!
  13. Yeah, I am in the same boat. I was on Lexapro, Celexa, Ativan, Xanax, Welbutrin, and the list goes on, of meds that my doc tried to help with the depression and mood swings. 6 mos gluten free and I am off of all meds! I actually started having manic episodes on the meds because I was at a "normal" level when I was gluten free. So he had me wean off of them...
  14. That is so cool! I will so be checking them out !!!!!!!!
  15. Ditto. I have a sub. I like the food ideas. And all of the adds for companies that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.
  16. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES (I am very overweight).
  17. I am really thinking about getting one because I have passed out before after eating "hidden" gluten. I am much more diligant than I was then, but I still want to make sure the Emergency Professionals know something important like that. I agree, that Celiac is not as life threatening as some other issues, but the Fire Department that came to my car in the...
  18. I agree with Ursula, but I just want to add that I read an article tonight about Millet, amaranth, quinoa, and other grains and how they are not gluten filled, but that they are simular, and may cause some people to get sick. BUT, I don't know of anyone who gets sick from these things. And I don't. And I eat things made from them. So perhaps the info you...
  19. Oh my gosh! Me too! I HATE commercials. In my area, it is either for food, or a car dealer. And they are so much louder than the show, so I am always muting it, and then missing the first few seconds of my show because I look away to do something else. Anyway, I, too, have been hating the Pizza Hut (are they the ones doing Stuffed Crust? or is that Domino...
  20. As far as I know, all of mine are gluten-free. Not all of the Eminence line is gluten-free, but if there is anything in it, it is wheat germ oil, and I know the jury is still out on just how bad that is, but I don't use products with it in there anyway. You should start one! Sounds like a plan!
  21. (I know you weren't asking me, but I just wanted to add that I played the tenor sax for many years-through middle school, and high school- and then donated my sax to a student that needed an instrument for band. I miss playing! I can still remember the notes/finger placings! I wonder if there is a local group that I could play with around here.......do you...
  22. I, too, LOVE Bare Minerals. I used to use Mary Kay (and I still like the company and a lot of their stuff) but when I went gluten-free my body seemed to get more sensitive to alot of other things. I would breakout with make-up that I had been using for years! But I never had a problem with BE! And I have slept in it and no breakout! I love how easy the foundation...
  23. Ah! I just found the song that has been half-way playing in my head for 20 years! LOL!! Thanks so much!
  24. Actually, I get Eminence from my local spa (where my aesthetician was the one who noticed a difference in my skin when I went gluten-free) and she suggested an organic brand. She found this stuff for me, and liked it so much, that she started selling it there! They have a website too, double-u double-u double-u dot eminenceorganics dot com. (I was spelling...
  25. Ah! I love Mary Kay. I used to sell it (and I am still a consultant, but I don't use a lot of their stuff anymore). I like the Bare Mineral foundation much more than the MK foundation. And their nail polish has gluten in it, by the way. One of the mascara's did too, but they phased that one out, so if yours is less than 3 months old, then you shouldn't have...
