  1. Susie You are right, my NHS doctor thinks I'm 'just' depresssed so I am paying privatly to see a doctor in London. As my PPP insurance won't cover a self referal! There is a lab round the corner from the consulting rooms and I had bloods and got the test kit there. I got to the point where having left my job and inco I just got the leaky gut results...

ARCHIVED New Doctor What To Test For ?

The leaky gut test showed Decreased permeability and malabsorbsion not a leaky gut after all! I'm havn't managed to find much information on this on the net, it does seem a bit odd considering that I don't actually look mal nourished, sadly I could could do with losing weight....... I'm not seeing the Doctor until the end of the month when all the rest...
  3. My new doc mentioned testing me too as I have travelled in Thailand, Japan, Dubai and could have picked something up. I did find some things online but have lost the links due to a network problem. I'll have a look again later and post any info I find again. I do know that they are very hard to detect and also hard to kill! If I have any they are very...
  4. Hi Nancy Yes I am gluten-free and cf, I'v had a few slip ups as I'v been away and eating out a lot but nothing too terrible. The doctor I am seeing Dr , previously a GP, has been in complementary practice for 15 years and amongst other things, treats thyroid conditions with Armour. He tests for FT4, FT3 and TSH, He often treats with T3. He will test for...
  5. Hi everyone I have got some of my tests results back: The printout said they were normal but the zinc would appear not to be within the reference range and I'm not sure why there are two different numbers for it. Also is it possible to have these thyroid results but still have an underactive thyroid? the TSH is interesting as I have avoided all soy since...
  6. Do get copies of your test results. My doctor told me many of mine were fine and they actually were boarderline. I did Enterolab because I had been 95% gluten-free for ages (thanks to all here for the advice). My little girl told me the other day that I know far more than any doctor about these problems, ( I don't I'm still learning but it is nice to...
  7. yes, there are multiple issues going on, lack of vit D in a low light climate, lack of light and seratonin production. I'm moving to a warmer sunny climate for this reason. My entire family have SAD symptoms in the winter. I even bought a 'SAD lamp' for my office (which had no windows).I want to live my life, not hibernate for 6 months of the year! I...
  8. I feel much worse in winter and have Fibro too. One interesting link with fibro I discovered this week is that symptoms of a low thyroid (many of which are exactly the same for Fibro) are worse in winter because if your thyroid is a bit on the slow side it has to work harder in winter to keep the body warm and running. I'v had my thyroid checked out and...
  9. Hi Matt My story is similar to your except i'm 42! If you have private health insurance I can give you the name of a lovely gastro consultant in London I think he may also have an NHS clinic if your GP would refer you. PM me if you need the details. I found him through a uk coeliac branch, my friend us currently undergoing testing with him and I plan...
  10. I am doing the test tomorrow. Patti that link was really good.
  11. Enterolab also test for Gluten sensitive genes as well as the 2 celiac ones, my pair are linked to more neurological symptoms. Perhaps your lab only looked for the main genes?
  12. I'm living near Cambridge at the moment and am moving to Toulouse in the summer. Lifestyle bakeries Open Original Shared Link sent us a big box of samples, lemon cake, crumpets, fresh bread (which is available on prescription and is the only one my little girl will eat) bakewell tart, all of it was wonderful! I have the big Waitrose gluten free list...
  13. My Ex husband wasn't ....... but even that is suspect as he has Alopecia and was the father of my coeliac daughter I had 2 mouth guards, a 'soft' one for my upper teeth made by my dentist that cost £200 or so ($300 ) and one a hard thin lower one made at a London Dental hospital and covered under the NHS. (this is the one I still use occasionally)...

ARCHIVED New Doctor What To Test For ?

Hi thomas, interesting site but I needed a UK based doctor who my regular GP and my new one when I move would respect the opinion/test results of without question. I checked out a lot before choosing him! Avon Complementary Medicine is the central office for the practices of Dr David Dowson, a specialist in Complementary Medicine. Dr Dowson was a general...
  15. I used to find my mouth guard under the pillow in the morning.... Perhaps my subconcious wanted to tooth fairy to take it away.... The tinnitus is common in grinders and fibro. My Fibro bible 'Fibromyalgia & chronic Myofascial Pain' Devin Starlanyl' Open Original Shared Link has lots of info on the link between the trigger points in the masseter...

ARCHIVED New Doctor What To Test For ?

Hi Heli You are right, I have pretty much diagnosed myself. I did have Igc testing in 2003 and it came up wheat, milk, & cashew nuts (which i don't eat anyway). I need a correct medical diagnosis if I have a thyroid problem that needs treatment also I am moving to another country soon and don't want a new Doctor thinking I'm a self diagnosed food allergy...
  17. My OH used to do this, I get my own back now when he snores
  18. I was surfing and came across Open Original Shared Link 75% of fibro sufferers have TMJ/bruxism so that explains a lot. I am a bit baffled that my tinnitus is really bad at the moment 'cos I don't seem to be grinding much, probably because I'm not having to do month end accounts anymore! Prozac is supposed to make it worse according to my dentist but...
  19. I grind my teeth and have since I was a child. I tried mouth guards but couldn't get on with them I clenched more and got headaches. I seem to be doing it less now that my stress levels are better. I have worn down and fractured some teeth and had root canal work and a gold crown. I'm just wondering if it is linked to gluten & neurological problems...

ARCHIVED New Doctor What To Test For ?

    Thanks Lynne .
  21. This is interesting, I saw a new Doctor today and amongst other things he said I may have a problem with my Gallbladder. I do have a lot of pain in my right shoulder but had a dx of 'partial impingement' and had the tendon injected with steroids and botox in the trapius (sp) muscel (neighter worked much). I don't eat much fatty food now but if I do I get...
  22. I used the french version from Open Original Shared Link 2 weeks ago and they worked well. I printed out several and used them when necessary. I don't know how accurate the German ones are as we don't speak German, perhaps Ursula could comment? Donna
  23. I read the whole post too, and I own a Mother obviously from the same batch as yours! I think they must have had a common sense bypass during production
  24. hI Moongirl I'v just got back from my new doctors appointment with a test kit for it! Open Original Shared Link The gut is a major primary interface between the individual and the environment. Disturbances in gut function can result in devastating ill health effects on the individual. Increased gut permeability can cause absorption of potentially toxic...
  25. I also have Intense curiosity, thank God, otherwise I think I would be in the funny farm by now! We had wonderful seafood and vegetables in France the other week. DILIROTH my girls are still laughing about your 'twin' to our cat drinking the goldfish water! D
