  1. Great news! I'm so glad everything is okay. We'll look forward to having you join us again next week!
  2. I think I did okay today. The only exercise I got was pulling weeds for an hour and jogging a half mile. B - 2 chicken tenderloins with about 1 Tbs garlic sauce (I love that stuff!) L - Roast chicken breast, cooked carrots, handful of raspberries, handful of raisins D - Mexican lasagne, lots of guacamole, lots of fruit, lots of salad have a great...
  3. Sure! Whatever helps you the most.
  4. Oh, I so understand. I got up to about 190 when I was on the prednisone too. I HATE that medication! Good for you to have lost that much weight!
  5. Kat, you're funny. When I get down to 158 I'll post it and be really excited! Kristen - congrats on the 4 pounds! I'm down 1 pound in the past week. I think it would have been better if I hadn't had a "free" 4th of July, but oh well. I guess it's up to everyone to decide if they want to post their actual weight or just say how much they've lost...
  6. Good job Cathy! You're moving in the right direction. I got in a really good workout today - exercise bike, arm bike, walking and elliptical machine and then leg machines at our community center. Total of about 80 minutes. B - 2 pieces chicken sausage L - 1 C pasta salad S - a bite of potato salad D - barbecued chicken breast, salad, cooked...
  7. I had severe arthritis that started getting better after 5 days. Eight months after eliminating dairy, eggs, soy, beans and nightshade vegetables (as well as wheat and gluten) I was able to walk 12-14 hours a day at Disneyland with very little discomfort in my feet. After a year I had no signs at all and added some foods back.
  8. I was in Florida. It was an Ener-G Tapioca bun - toasted nicely. Not perfect, but still great to be able to order a real hamburger! (Funny things is, I rarely eat red meat.)
  9. Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great 4th of July! Patti - I'm glad you've decided to join us! Mango - it's nice to see you here too! I did great on the 3rd, but can't remember exactly what I ate. Yesterday was definitely a "free" day. Pasta salad, potato salad, hot dog, black bean salsa and chips, fruit, Rice Divine, more chips... and the list...
  10. My friend snapped this picture of me eating a gluten-free hamburger at MGM Studios a few weeks ago. My mouth was stuffed full, so I had a funny smile, but I was pretty happy! First time I'd ordered a hamburger in 11 years! (I had to scan it in, so it's not too clear, but had to share it.)
  11. Hope you have a wonderful trip!
  12. Oh Janet, I'm so sorry. Yes, you must be a bit upset. I just said a little prayer for you. I hope everything turns out okay.
  13. I have psoriasis too. It started in my scalp and now it's all over. It went away when I only ate fish, rice, some vegetables and some fruits for a whole year. It came back when I broadened my diet, even though I still avoided wheat/gluten, dairy, eggs and soy. Dairy seems to make it way worse. Getting a sunburn (mild) makes it flare-up, then disappear...
  14. I know what you mean about Marlene's. I do a little shopping there, but mostly like to eat at the salad bar upstairs. I get most of my gluten-free stuff from Trader Joe's and Fred Meyer. Marlene's does have Tinkyada pasta on sale this month, so I stocked up on that. There's another health food store in Kent called Nature's Pantry or Nature's Market that...
  15. Welcome Kristen! Glad you've joined us. I know first hand how hard it can be to lose weight while taking care of little ones. I had 3 in 3 years and then we adopted one a bit later. Now, they're 15, 14, 12 and 10 and it's a bit easier. But we still need to find meals on the run and easy to fix stuff. Lunch can be hard. Some of the quicker things...
  16. I keep meaning to respond to one of your posts. I grew up in Bothell! Lived there from birth until age 18. Have you lived there long?
  17. I'm from Federal Way too! My gluten-free kids are ages 12 (son) and 15 (daughter) and have adapted well to the diet. Do you shop/eat at Marlene's?
  18. Jestgar - happy to have you join us! Kathy - sounds like you're doing great getting going with your workouts - keep up the good work! Little d - how can we help encourage you to be totally gluten-free? I know from experience that it's all or nothing. 90% gluten-free is the same as eating a regular diet. Would having a diagnosis, probably from Enterolab...
  19. Welcome Donna! I can't remember - are you gluten-free or someone in your family? Just wondering because I noticed the McDonald's food. I didn't do too bad, but ate a bit too much today. At least I got 30 minutes of exercise in. B - 1/2 large apple with about 1-1/2 Tbs almond butter S - a thin slice of raw goat cheese L - 3/4 C pasta salad,...
  20. I used Mrs. Leeper's "Organic Corn Vegetable Radiatore". It's brightly multi-colored and fun-shaped. It's great in pasta salads, but I've never used it for anything else. I think it was $3.79 for a 12 oz package. I've served it twice in the past month at big gatherings where just my 2 kids and I were gluten-free and everyone has complimented me on the...
  21. Welcome Meg! Sounds like you have similar goals to a lot of the rest of us. Hope we can help support you. Kathy - good for you to get into working out! I did okay today. Was tempted to cheat at a barbecue tonight, but caught myself. B - 2 chicken tenderloins with 1 Tbs. garlic sauce (I know, a weird breakfast) and 1/2 C raspberries S - a large...
  22. Sorry, I should have been more clear. You can add 1/2 C Milk, rice milk, water or whatever liquid you're using.
  23. There's a good recipe in the recipe section of celiac.com. I have used it several times and everyone always likes it. I usually add about 1/2 C more liquid and 1/2 package of pudding mix to it, but it turns out well even without that. (If you do add this, it will make a couple of cupcakes in addition to the cake.) I copied it straight from the recipe...
  24. NGG - I use a cheap version of the Foreman grill for my Panini sandwiches. They still taste great and have those little lines in them. Definitely not worth buying a special panini grill for.
  25. Hi Everyone! Now don't be shy about posting your food intake! It's what helps keep me "honest" - knowing that I'm going to have to write it all out. B - Small banana and 1-1/2 Tbs almond butter L - Salad bar and health food store with chicken breast and balsamic vinaigrette S - About 30 almonds D - Chicken fajitas with onions and peppers, 2...
