  1. I know it takes a while to feel better. I've been gluten-free for 3 months - and have been very strict re issues of cc etc But my tTg levels are apparently still quite high. does this mean I'm missing some cc somewhere, or will it just take a while longer for my bloods to reflect my good work with my diet?
  2. Going gluten-free might actually effect your results if you've been gluten-free for a while (as in quite a few months) and you do have celiac disease, as you might have started absorbing iron better by now and hence not be so anaemic. however, if your dr thinks it's an issue, it is worth getting tested. bad aneamia often does go with celiac disease but isn...
  3. Thanks for this info about GERD. I need a real wake up call about my GERD as I know I eat too much fatty stuff. It has been a bit better since being gluten-free, but I need to stop eating those yummy gluten-free cakes! One thing I am wondering - could palpitatins/ being really aware of my heart beat be a symptom of GERD? It was really bad in the run up...
  4. Nicole, I really feel for you - I know I couldn't do this without a positive diagnosis. I really hope you manage to find out what's making you sick, and soon. (((((((hugs))))))) Susie x
  5. Interesting. I've never reacted to strawberries before, as far as I can recall. Both my sister in law and my brother in law are allergic to them, so it doesn't surprise me to hear that they are in the top 10 allergens.
  6. I had gluten-free toast, ham (GFDF) & strawberries. I'm suspecting the ham as being cc given that it was processed.
  7. I had my evening meal about an hour ago and within a short space of time (about 20 mins) felt so exhausted that I felt drugged and I also got palppitations. Starting to feel a bit more alive now. I've not had any GI reactions (yet). Everything I ate I've had before. I'm wondering whether it's a cc issue or casein maybe (although I'm pretty sure I've not reacted...
  8. Just thinking out loud here, but could he make the dietary changes really gradually? Praying that you find the right solution for him. Susie x
  9. GERD is my main symptom, yet I was diagnosed with IBS Then all these years later it turns out that it's celiac disease all along. I didn't realise the palpitations and breathing difficulties went with the GERD - that's really reassuring to know, as no one has ever told me! Those 2 symptoms have been a lot better in the 2 months since I've been gluten-free...
  10. For me, stomach burning has always been the indication that I've eaten something that disagrees with me. It stopped for a couple of weeks when I went gluten-free then resurfaced. For me, it's a good indicator of me being intolerant to something. Like Robbin, cheese was also a problem for me. I too have never liked milk - have always known I can't 'stomach...
  11. That's very interesting. I felt really rubbish on Monday - v sore stomach, violent headache, and had to come home from work. I had had a headache the night before as well. I thought I may have been glutened the evening before (not 100% sure as it must have been by cc and, being fairly new to the diet, am inexperienced in recognising when I'm glutened). but...
  12. Thanks so much for this. I replaced gluten containing products with soy containing ones and it came up on my York tests as me being intolerant to soy. I gave it up but have caved in a couple of times and had some really yummy gfdf chocolate cakes that contain soy. I end up feeling totally exhausted. I've been feeling incrediblly tired since being gluten-free...
  13. Is pernicious anemia inherited? My grandmother had it and I wonder whether it could be the cause of some of my symptoms: exhaustion, depression, aching, palpitations, cramps, mood swings. What's the difference in symptoms from ordinary anemia (which I know is a problem for me)? I don't know if the dr has ever tested for pernicious anemia. What is the test...
  14. Thanks so much for all your encouragement. I think I need a trip to the supermarket sans toddler to check out all the possible alternatives. That's what I am panning to do, but I'm feeling so rubbish at the moment, I can't believe all this eliminating stuff is actually going to help. Well, that's not exactly accurate, my GI symptoms are getting...
  15. I've been GFDF since my biopsy on Jan 10 this year. I've done the York test as I suspected various other foods were giving me problems. The list they came back with is enormous! apart from gluten and dairy there's: pork, carrot, broccoli, cauilflower, cabbage, potato, beans, cucumber, asaparagus, peppers, onion, peas, soy, spinach, aubergine, celery, lentils...
  16. Like Nancy I've had to give up loads of foods and am trying to focus on enjoying the cooking. I'm starting to enjoy experimenting with things I've never tried before, but am still struggling knowing what I can actually eat. I've got an appointment with the nutritionist next week, so hopefully he'll give me some ideas! Missing out on the yummy gluten...
  17. I'm in the same boat and would love to see your chart Donna I'm lucky enough to have a very large supermarket close by with a large selection of Asian foods in it. Yesterday, I discovered cassava chips and plantain chips. I've tried the cassava and they're are scrummy - similar to potato chips but tastier if anything. this is great news for me as I...
  18. Hi Betty Just wanted to add that I feel like I'm in the same boat as you. I've been gluten-free since Jan 10 and was great the first couple of weeks, but things seem to have gone down hill from there. I've previously been diagnosed with IBS and have gerd symptoms - and these are playing up. I had IGg testing which showed that I'm intolerant to just about...

    ARCHIVED Aching

Since getting my York results back last week and discovering I'm intolerant to loads of stuff, i've been trying to gradually eliminate and replace things in my diet. I started with the nightshades, as these seem to give me the most problems. Since then, I've been aching lots as though I've got flu - but I'm pretty sure I haven't got flu as I have no other...
  20. I know I'm intolerant to yeast. Does this make it likely that I've got a candida problem? I've got lots of food intolerances and crave sweet stuff and carbs, but I don't know if that's just the consequence of having to adjust to a much healthier diet!
  21. Thanks! I'll need to see if I can source those brands here in the UK. Shouldn't I be having vinegard then? I didn't realise that! That will be why my GFDF mayo makes me feel sick then
  22. Thanks for the info Rachel. I guess I need to find out the underlying causes. Not sure who to go to for that here in the UK though..... Donna, are you getting private medical care? I can't imagine the NHS investigating the possibility of leaky gut (call me a cynic ) How did your test go today? What has your dr said they'll do once you get your results...
  23. just a short list of things I can't have in bread! Anyone have a good recipe that isn't just a corn bread? I'm OK with corn, but don't want to over do it, so would prefer to use a different flour.
  24. I think this is almost certainly a problem for me, especially since my test results show intolerances to numerous foods. For those of you who have concluded you've got leaky gut, what are you doing about it? Anyone had success in using the various supplements mentioned in the helpful link Patti posted?
  25. Thanks for your support Ursula This is such a great place to come for the info and help I just can't get elsewhere.
