Many others gave great advice and suggestions. I would like to add since you just got diagnosed and went gluten-free the physiological effects gluten can have on the body systems that effect mood like hormones, histamine, serotonin, dopamine receptors in the brain , even cardiovascular palpitations symptoms can cause issues. These maybe more vast then researchers...

ARCHIVED Cigars
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I find when I am damaged cc or exposed to gluten (after strict removal for 4 years) , I am sensitivite to lots of things. It opens can of worms for me food wise and environmental. I have respiratory problems with dust, perfumes, air freshners, fresh cut grass, smoke from cigarettes/ cigars , industrial cleaners and fresh roadwork asphalt/tar. The smoke can... -
ARCHIVED Could it be DH?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Chemist89's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your rash looks familiar to what I get on the back of my arms and front of my upper legs when eating gluten or exposed to gluten. The back of elbow rash I get is more red and the pustules are larger and more fluid filled it burns and itches terribly. I even itch in many areas of my body without skin eruption and I get extremely dry patches as well. I personally... -
ARCHIVED Really fed up, and need some help
Awol cast iron stomach replied to poorlypup87's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi poorly pup, You have many symptoms I have minus the thrush. I have a history of being told stress, undetermined gastroenteritis, GERD, IBS, I'm sure the list goes on, but at this point who cares. I blame gluten for everything. I have spent 2016 pursuing a celiac diagnosis and the firm diagnosis eludes me . I have been able to connect all my past issues... -
ARCHIVED Smelling gluten in air or fried gluten food mood reaction?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Awol cast iron stomach's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for the input. There are also crumbs galore from the baked goods brought in that they eat. That why I no longer even try too sit at the table. Ironically when I first started they did not appear to be such big gluten group. A few people retired and a few new ones came on so the shift appears in dietary preferences has appeared to have occurred. ... -

I know I get short of breath walking in a full gluten infested bread aisle and avoid it as much as possible. Thankfully the average coworker eating a sandwich from home on store bought gluten bread is ok. the whole store aisle a problem for me. I do have a bizzarre question do any of you or have you ever experienced irritability and low mood after being... -
ARCHIVED Can An Allergist Diagnose?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to jk17's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ahhh as those above say it is a diverse path bouncing between multiple medical disciplines. I have had 3 different allergists and 2 gi' s. I believe soon my gi list will be increasing. I however need a break ! I have struggled with gi hospital admitting issues for 18-20 years. My current allergist is more in-depth to the immune pathways than a typical... -
ARCHIVED Questionable Diagnosis
Awol cast iron stomach replied to JacDevo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Squirming itch may be right casein is possible. I struggle with this myself right now in fact. I was diagnosed IBS for 18-20 years and my endoscopy / colonoscopy following gluten challenge in October 2016 showed no signs of IBS. Since a bad cc in March 2016 I had gluten, diary, and 8 foods removed from my diet. My Dr's have difficulty diagnosing me.... -
ARCHIVED Vitamin D deficiency?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to kam00096's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello I had vitamin D deficiency years back and maintain my levels by taking a daily D3 supplement. I suspect I was vitamin D deficient before I was tested. My most recent test in July told me my levels are good and to maintain the dosage I currently take. Your Dr. said take one a day you didn't share what strength/IU they suggested as your maintenance... -

Welcome and I wish you luck tomorrow. I wanted to respond with you being new although I know many others are more experts on DH then I am. I didn't want you to go to bed without reaching out to you. As I am sure this all weighs on you. I am still undiagnosed Celiac/NCGS but have had many many issues and could not complete my gluten challenge (I was...- 3 replies

ARCHIVED Intolerances after going gluten-free
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Jkta's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My apologizes you also asked for symptoms: It depends what I eat and I personally feel I have a threshold based on damage, how long I have gone since last gluten exposure and amount consumed weather CC or given an item that is an actual gluten containing ingredient but told it was gluten-free. My gluten symptoms are the worst I bloat, (i gain 30 lbs... -
ARCHIVED Intolerances after going gluten-free
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Jkta's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My opinion/answer is my experience and reflects my background. My intolerances increase and they were the result of the damage gluten caused. I did not always have them. I believe now I always had a problem with gluten which my story will show I confirmed to myself playing lab rat. The gluten is the trigger (first) the other intolerances came after. I have... -
Thank you for the forum/posts Celiac.com. My journey on this still undiagnosed path continues. Celiac or NCGS who knows, but I always find myself back here with validation in one/many of you. Here I often find myself and it provides comfort, recognition, and clarity despite lack of medical recognition. What is clear is I got glutened in March 2016 after...

ARCHIVED Awol follow up
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Awol cast iron stomach's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for replying gluten-free in DC. I know I failed to finish and I readily admitted it to them. I also told them initially I wasn't willing to do the challenge that I'd prefer to be gluten-free and wait for technology to catch up with me. I knew however they would not order endoscopy if I did not do a challenge. I'll take your sage advice and consider... -

Awol cast iron stomach replied to Awol cast iron stomach's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Ironic Truth, Thanks for Replying. Wow I get bad joint pain too. So my opinion especially if he is eating gluten is to get him tested. I wish I had been tested when I was eating gluten 8 years ago . I had tried 8 years ago initially to figure out what the heck was going on with me and my immune system. I started with a GP, went to Allergist/Immunologist... -

Hello everyone, Thank you for the many months of support. I was unable to get through the 14 day gluten challenge. I made it 6 days stopped due to d and all my other symptoms and dehydration issues. Then I had to go gluten-free a few days ate one more day of gluten. So I was unable to do 14 days. They did both colonoscopy and endoscopy. They said no... -

Awol cast iron stomach replied to Awol cast iron stomach's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thank you all. To clarify it is both endoscopy and colonoscopy procedure for me next month. Both are being done at the same time. I am under 50 but it's 2 with 1 stone approach. Just lucky I guess -that is complete sarcasm. I am concerned about both so advice on either prep is appreciated. I am most concerned of my gluten challenge and appreciate all... -

Awol cast iron stomach posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My story continues I have now reached intolerance discovery in addition to exploring if I fit celiac or ncgs not ibs as was thought for 19-20 years in the medical world. I went gluten free without diagnosis because my husband and I were the only ones to see I had gluten issues as my health issues escalated 3 years ago. My cousin is a diagnosed celiac... -

Awol cast iron stomach posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well I went to rheumatologist as next step in my long journey since glutening in March 2016. My celiac diagnosed cousin suggested it as a next step for me based on my months of issues since glutened. In a nutshell can't be ruled in by testing results my own body's symptoms tells me I can't be ruled out. To recap I have had GI issues a lifetime diagnosed... -
ARCHIVED Shingles or DH?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Kurasz's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Kurasz, I am glad you are finally getting the necessary guidance and healthcare you have been needing. Many on this forum I have read for one reason or another don't have the gold standard results /official diagnosis. Some may find pursuing that exacerbates health issues further. The Dr gave you the most important part stop eating gluten and avoid... -
ARCHIVED Shingles or DH?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Kurasz's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I agree the burning is not constant but it is as if when it subsides in between breaks the central nervous system still has sensations lingering. When I removed the gluten and I was healing it did itch more. I think mine burned and itched as my body was trying to heal even before I figured out gluten was the source that ills me. So it was a cycle of burning... -

Awol cast iron stomach replied to Kurasz's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hello I am sorry you are unwell. Has anyone done a skin biopsy for you? I know it is said DH is typically as ravenswood said bilateral, but my personal experience (although I have not been formerly diagnosed keep in mind -my IBS diagnosis from 20 years ago sticks despite my personal findings and beliefs) is my right elbow flares before my left. My right... -
Just chiming in on the vitamin water suggestion as a culprit. The original poster I think is speaking of plain bottled water. The one responder suggested if it was a vitamin water it maybe an issue. The reason this person may suggest avoiding vitamin water but did not elaborate is due to sourcing of the material from which the vitamin was derived. Vitamin...
