  1. Thanks so much!!! My sister mentioned wanting to take me to Atlanta Fish Market...glad that you had success there! I am making a list and will add all of these. Great info!! Thanks for the tip!
  2. Thanks for your post Laura!! I do like PF Changs and Outback. I hear there is a gluten-free chocolate dessert there that I have yet to try.
  3. I am also in Columbus and have only been gluten free for 3.5 weeks. I haven't been "diagnosed" by the gold standard, but had the positive bloodwork and dietery response. I wish that I wouldn't have gone gluten-free before seeing the GI, but didn't know any better. I can't fathom eating gluten again to rule in Celiac, but not rule it out. I may order the...
  4. to try? We will be eating out some, so I am trying to compile a list now (and possibly contact some) before we head down there. I do have some chain restaurants lists, but wouldn't mind trying some local spots for a change. Thanks for any info! Kim
  5. I would love this email as well....we are travelling in March and would like to take it with me. My email is kbouldin@insight.rr.com Thanks!!!!!
  6. That is awesome that you got a diganosis!
  7. Thanks guys!! I feel better knowing that this is normal. Maybe I do need to give me dr a call and go back to 10 mg of Lexapro instead of 20 mg. I had stopped taking my vitamins b/c I hadn't verified if they were gluten free or not (generic) and I hadn't heard back from the company. I am going to call them back today and hopefully start taking them again...
  8. All I want to do is sleep! LOL! I have been taking naps every afternoon when the kids go down (30 min to 1 hour). I also get at least 8 hours of sleep every night, sometimes more and I STILL want to sleep more! The Lexapro I take can make me tired, but it only seemed to do that for the first few weeks and then I was past that (been on it since November)....
  9. Hang in there....it is a very tough adjustment to make. I have been gluten-free for almost 3 weeks and the first 2 weeks were VERY hard. I finally made some lists of things that I could eat (put them all in a binder that I take shopping with me now) and that has helped greatly. The people on this board are so helpful and if you have any questions, please...
  10. Thanks so much for the info! I will give that a try!
  11. Thank you very much! I think I remember reading something like that a long time ago too, now that you mention it. I think the Hickory Smoked threw me off...figuring that they must have added some flavor. I think I am going to go DF for a while and see if that doesn't help. That is going to kill me, as I put cheese on everything, but I am willing to...
  12. I haven't experimented with making my own flour mix yet, but would like to b/c this is gonna get $$ to keep buying the mix. I just made chocolate chip cookies yesterday with Bob's Red Mill gluten-free flour mix and they turned out very close to my non gluten-free cookies. Th gluten-free ones are a little chewier, but still very tasty! Would you mind...
  13. I mean I know that it is pork. It says "Hickory Smoked", but both DH and I looked and saw no ingredient list. I wanted to makes sure it was gluten-free before eating it. I did email Tyson, but they said it could take 5-7 business days to respond. Anyone have any info on that? Sargento shredded cheese lists these ingredients....cheddar cheese (pasteurized...
  14. Well, I spoke with the nurse at my gastro's office and she said that I would have to eat a regular diet full of gluten for at least 4 weeks before the biopsy for it to be "accurate". That being said, she added that a negative would NOT rule out Celiac. I have felt better in the past 2 weeks gluten-free than I have felt in years.....I can't imagine doing...
  15. My daughter was like then when I quit pumping/breastfeeding. She couldn't do soy and the milk based gave her severe D. We tried Lactose free before going to the Alimentum/Nutramigen and it worked for her. She stayed on Lactose free until she transitioned to cow's milk at 14 months old. She seems to tolerate milk fine now.
  16. I have done some research in the past 2 weeks since I found out that I have a gluten intolerance and this is what I have gotten from the manufacturer: Gluten Free: Millstone Flavored Coffees Folgers Flavored Coffees Berres Brothers (they verified Cranberry Cream...not sure about the others) NOT Gluten Free: Seattle's Best Flavored Coffees...
  17. That would be interesting to follow. Great question!
  18. Oh my!!! I can't imagine 2 of her!! LOL!! 4 y/o twins..WOW!!
  19. I was very excited when I heard that! So many kids and adults would be helped by that test. I really wanted to ask him if that was coming why he just didn't test my kids! LOL! My 3 y/o was screaming and making a mess though, so I had to leave. He didn't mention that until we were on our way out. So glad that you are feeling better! I was...
  20. Thanks for your response. I really like my current Ped, but if I ask again and he won't test them, I may have to find a new one. He did seem knowledgable (more than my PCP) about Celiac and talked about how common it is (tip of the iceberg only ones being diagnosed and how many others that haven't been)....he seemed to think that the blood test was going...
  21. Long story short: My IgG was 50, other bloodwork normal. Postive dietary response to gluten free diet. Gastro wants to do a biopsy, but that requires me to eat gluten again (been gluten free for 2 weeks). PCP was fine with me skipping the biopsy for now since I feel better (finally) and I am struggling with recovering from an eating disorder and she wants...
  22. Glad you are feeling better!! Nice to not feel so bad, I know. I don't know that eating gluten for a month for the biopsy would be enough to show damage or not...I think it depends. I started reading Dangerous Grains today and I think they mentioned that it could take up to 5 yrs for damage to reappear after going gluten-free. I am kinda faced...
  23. That completely makes sense to me. I have been faced with a similar dilemma, except I have just seen the gastro dr and she wants me to do the biopsy. Problem with me is that I have already gone gluten-free and don't want that to effect the test results. I am not sure that I could make myself eat gluten again at this point either. The difference off gluten...
  24. Glad that your Mom is doing well now. So are you gluten fee already or waiting for the results before you go gluten-free? I am 33 and have had IBS issues since I had my first child at 23. The drs always said it was a food intolerance and stay away from that food. I did narrow some down...raw onions, raw peppers, all seeds. The diarrhea went away...
  25. I don't know much as I just got a positive blood test myself, but maybe your friend should get a 2nd opinion. The Drs could very well be wrong. It wouldn't hurt to get the second opinion, especially before the bone marrow test. How high was the IgG? Good luck.
