ARCHIVED Quick Help Please....
wolfie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For some reason I swear I picked up Classico pasta sauce, which I know is gluten-free. Anyway, poured the sauce in my pan and it is Bertolli 5 cheese.....the only thing on the label that I would be suspicious of is "spices" and "enzymes". It is made by Unilever, though, which I think clearly marks gluten, right? Thanks! I am hoping that I can eat the... -

My first visit to Ted's Montana grill on a gluten-free diet was not very positive....the server and staff seemed very put out by my requests. I followed up with an email to corporate with some questions that was never answered. Fast forward to last night......my friend and I went to a concert and Ted's was the closet thing to gluten-free friendly around...

ARCHIVED Negative Bloodtest..now What?
wolfie replied to jodster's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hmmm......I thought once you were diagnosed, you were diagnosed. If you were diagnosed as a baby, why would your drs now question it? Are you following a gluten-free diet now? If not, maybe start there and see if that makes an improvement on how you feel over time. I have seen plenty of people post here who have tested negative, but have had a positive... -
ARCHIVED Red Robin Restaurant Exton Pa --to The Rescue Again
wolfie replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Good for you for following up. I am interested to hear what that franchise has to say. Keep us posted. -
Tinkerbell...glad you had a wonderful dinner! Judy, hope your MRI goes okay...many prayers for you. Also, I would email or call Red Robin's corporate office regarding your experience there. I emailed them about a positive experience in the past and they were very pleased to hear about it. I can only hope that they would want to know about the negatives...

ARCHIVED Additional Food Intolerences
wolfie replied to StrongerToday's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My food intolerances usually occur within 2-6 hours, but sometimes it can be a little longer for me. It does make it kind of tough to figure out sometimes, especially if it occurs in the evening or later at night. It could be lunch, snack or dinner. I tend to eat very much on the safe side for now, though, so that does make it easier for me. It took me... -
ARCHIVED Whole Foods 365 Brand
wolfie replied to jerseyangel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Please let us know what they say in their response to you. I may just have to avoid that brand now, too. The more I go on, the more I am convinced that I need to stick to whole foods....veggies, meats, fruits and trusted gluten-free companies. I have run into too many issues recently and my tummy is tired of it! LOL! -
ARCHIVED Hams For Easter
wolfie replied to jknnej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Waffle Syrup

I really like the blueberry ones...the plain & apple cinnamon are good too. Did not care for the flax ones, but I don't think flax agrees with me so well. -
ARCHIVED Whole Foods 365 Brand
wolfie replied to jerseyangel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Funny you should ask this....I just emailed them yesterday to check on the gluten-free status of their frozen tater puffs. There are no gluten ingredients listed, but I needed to double check b/c both days I ate them, I had lots of cramping/gas, which usually only occurs when I get glutened. They wrote back with this response: The 365 Tater Puffs contain... -
ARCHIVED Hams For Easter

Hormel makes some that are gluten-free...they are listed on their website www.hormel.com You can order the Honeybaked ham without the glaze (the glaze has wheat starch in it), but I would call and speak with the manager and make sure that they can do it. -
ARCHIVED Oh Happy Spring

I have also confirmed that the generic Loratidine (Equate, made by Novartis) is gluten-free. I called on 3/7/2006. You can find it at Wal-mart and it is a lot cheaper than the brand name. -

Just heard back from Log Cabin (Pinnacle Foods) April 10, 2006 E-Mail Address: kbouldin@insight.rr.com Dear Ms. Bouldin: Thank you for taking the time to email us. Our Log Cabin® syrups are NOT gluten free. Our Country Kitchen® syrups are gluten free. Contact us again if we can be of assistance in the future. Sincerely, Desiree V... -
ARCHIVED Grits
wolfie replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have also been looking for a replacement for the Quaker grits. I can only find Quaker or the store brand in the store. I did see that Whole Foods carries Arrowhead, so I hope to find those when I go tomorrow. I really like grits and hope that I can find a safe choice. -
ARCHIVED Relief?
wolfie replied to CarrieBoo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I noticed a pretty quick improvement with the gluten-free diet.....like the first couple of days. I also had been diagnosed with IBS and told to follow a high fiber, whole grain diet......no real improvement there, except more pooping...go figure. The only time I saw improvement was when I did South Beach for a while......cut out a lot of the grains and... -
ARCHIVED Waffle Syrup
wolfie replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Okay, here is some info that I found..... Delphi List lists Log Cabin, all varieties gluten-free as of 3/25/2004. I did send another email off to them today, as the phone number I had was not good. I will update here when I hear back. They also list Mrs. Butterworths original as gluten-free and I have an email into them as well. I think that... -

ARCHIVED Waffle Syrup
wolfie replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Log Cabin original, Aunt Jemina Origianl or Mrs. Butterworth's original. All 3 are gluten-free. Be careful about other varieties though, such as butter flavor, Lite or sugar fee. I have not checked all of those out, but maybe someone else has. I eat Van's gluten-free waffles everyday for breakfast! -
I take Lexapro and have had no issues with weight gain. My dr prescribed this over other SSRIs b/c it is supposed to be very weight neutral.

ARCHIVED My Very Expensive Lab Work Is Back
wolfie replied to Carolita's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Carol... Only my IgG was positive, too. My IgA was low. I was going to do the biopsy, but had gone gluten-free first and then found out that could skew the results. Plus, I felt a lot better on the gluten-free diet almost immediately. I still have up and down days, but overall, there is no doubt in my mind that gluten and I are NOT friends. The... -
Which of the flour blends did you use? was it the 4 bean or the featherlight blend? I think I have the featherlight blend and am anxious to give it a try in some of my old recipes! Thanks! Nevermind...I see you say the multi-flour blend! See what I get for speed reading? LOL!

ARCHIVED My Blood Work Was Very Expensive - I'm Very Upset
wolfie replied to Carolita's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Maybe you could combine those 2 into 1 appointment? That may save you some $$. I know it stinks....we have a high deductible, too. Most of our well care is covered at 100%, but a lot of testing/urgent care stuff isn't. -
ARCHIVED My Blood Work Was Very Expensive - I'm Very Upset
wolfie replied to Carolita's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
OUCH!!! Sorry that you have to pay that out of pocket. Is the dr aware that you are paying that amount out of pocket and that you really can't afford another $60 for them to tell you to eat gluten-free? There could be other health issues related to Celiac that he/she wants to discuss with you, though. Good luck!
