  1. I have to agree with what everyone else has said. This is going to take longer than 1 month. I am 5+ months in and I still have a bad day or days every now and then. Most of the time I can pinpoint why, but sometimes I can't. The best thing you can do is go to very basic foods. That way if you do have a reaction you can tell what it is. If you are lactose...
  2. Yes!!! I used to have them all over the backs of my upper arms and on my knees and it is much better than it used to be. Arms are cleared up completely.
  3. Well....is that the only test that he ran? There is a whole panel of tests that should be run to properly screen for Celiac. Anti-gliadin IgA is only 1 of the tests. There are other tests in the panel that are much more sensitive and specific for Celiac. I wouldn't go gluten free until you get some other tests done. Can you ask for a referral to a GI...
  4. Oh my!! LOL!!! I highly suggest the Triumph Dining Cards (or some dining card that gets your point across). You just give them to your server or manager to take back to the chefs/cooks so that they understand the seriousness of your condition. I have been very pleased with how easy eating out has become with these cards now. Of course there is always...
  5. Oh no.....you forgot about it? LOL!! That is something that I would do. I can't believe the bride's cake was messed up!!! WOW!!!
  6. Awww....sorry that you got glutened by Bob!! I haven't used many of Bob's products, so I don't think I have been glutened by them. I hope that you are feeling better today!
  7. I would ask for a copy of your labwork and keep it with your own records. Did they run any other labwork other than IgA? Usually there is a whole panel of tests, but not all drs run them all. Usually it is recommended to have a endoscopy & biopsy to diagnose Celiac, but not all people are diagnosed that way, some are diagnosed by positive dietary response...
  8. I hope you are feeling okay. Let us know. I was one of the ones who posted about possibly being glutened by the bowl, but I also have numerous other food intolerances that could have been the culprit that I wasn't fully aware of at the time (soy, onions, garlic, peppers). That being said, I stick to whole foods for the most part now (chix, steak, fish...
  9. Judy, I hope that you continue to improve throughout the day. Many prayers for you. I have never dealt with what you are going through, so I don't have much advice. Hang in there! ((((HUGS)))))
  10. I would be frustrated with DH too. It is very frustrating that wheat is in so many things that seems unnecessary.
  11. Welcome Uta!!! Sorry to hear that your SIL is so sick. It does take time after being on a gluten free diet to start feeling better. Some people start feeling better right away, others can take 6 mons to 2 years. It may be possible that she is suffering from other food intolerances in addition to gluten. A lot of Celiacs can't tolerate dairy in the beginning...

    ARCHIVED Heartburn

Heartburn was always my first pregnancy symptom. It was miserable the whole pregnancy with DD. My dr finally prescribed something (I think it was Zantac, but I am not positive). For me it wasn't an issue of what I was eating, it was just a pregnancy symptom. Tums didn't work for very long anyway, so it doesn't matter that you can't take them now. Maybe...
  13. I agree with you completely on the positive dietary response, as that is how I figured out my issues after my positive blood test. It is night and day with my experience. There is no doubt in my mind now and I am certainly not doing a gluten challenge and making myself miserable to find out what I already know. DD on the other hand doesn't have any symptoms...
  14. No, he is overall pretty healthy (except for this now). Just frequent stomach aches (no D, but some C), asthma, environmental allergies, anxiety and possible ADHD. He rarely gets sick (cold or stomach bugs). I begged his dr to test him after my going gluten-free and adding all his symptoms up. Thanks for all of the responses. He doesn't appear to...
  15. Looks like they ran all the tests. They all seem normal. Not sure what the blurb means other than tTG being one of (or the most) specific for Celiac. You can have negative bloodwork and positive biopsy, I believe, at least it seems that way from what I have read.
  16. Thanks guys. That is pretty much what I thought, but DH is saying the test can't be right. I think he is in denial. He has a co-worker who is Celiac and was deathly ill when diagnosed, so he has a hard time believing that symptoms can differ person to person. We find out next week when he sees the gi specialist.
  17. I used Cherrybrook Kitchen Chocolate frosting for my cupcakes last month. I found the mix at Meijer. I think that Pillsbury does have some gluten-free, but I don't have my list handy. I'll see if I can find info on it for you.
  18. I haven't read labels for either of those items, but I would be concerned about barley in the flavoring. Maybe they could let you check the labels? Have fun!! That does sound like a good time.
  19. I finally convinced DS's (10 years old) Ped to test him after asking him for the past 5 months. He had wanted me to have the biopsy confirmed on myself before testing the kids. We were evalutaing DS for ADHD with the Ped and I asked again since it can be related to some of those symptoms AND DS complains about stomach aches all the time. His tTG came back...
  20. You poor thing!! Glad that you didn't get sick from it. I think I am going to try it tomorrow!
  21. I really loved the mac & cheese, too, and have been too nervous to try it since my last incident (Santa Fe Bowl). Now that I have been gluten-free longer, though, and I am feeling better overall, I may give it a try again. I have to get some stuff tomorrow....maybe I'll pick it up for dinner.
  22. I agree...very frustrating!! Not only b/c of the issue with gluten, but it would be nice to know what you are eating if you do happen to have a reaction of some sort.
  23. I am one of the ones who reacts to them, BUT, I do have several other food intolerances that could be to blame for that. I can't say for sure that gluten was the issue. I reacted to both the enchiladas and the Santa Fe enchilada bowl. I haven't had any products of Amy's since. I do have issues with soy, onions, garlic, peppers and lactose, though, all...
  24. We do it all the time b/c I am currently the only one who is gluten-free in the house. I also do the gluten-free stuff on top, non-gluten-free on the bottom. I really miss Stouffer's French Bread pizza, but not the way it made me feel.
